Tribskin Pick'em, your predictions and ours

Steve Ramirez and I will go head-to-head throughout the season, and I will update our records each Monday on the Tribskin Pick'em thread.

Robledo: Last week (10-4)
Ramirez: Last week (9-5)

I don't think either one of us were that impressive, but Robledo takes the lead in week one, knowing that Western Christian would beat Gladstone and that Rancho Cucamonga would beat Damien. Steve picked Happy Rock and the Spartans. We both got it wrong with Muir, who beat Diamond Ranch, and we both missed Glenn over Sierra Vista, and Gabrielino over La Puente, which too me was the upset of the week. Steve managed to stay close by picking Workman over Mountain View when I had it the other way around.

Hey Valley Overviewer, luck was not needed tonight to secure a win 4 the Giants.. Nor will it be needed throughout the rest of the season but thanks 4 your input!! Last week shoul've been a victory if not 4 a few mental mistakes..

DON FROM WHITTIER...do you sometimes call in to sports radio talk shows? There is a guy from Whittier who drops "bombs" on the shows from time to time. Always well versed and knowledgeable.

Is that you?

Of course if Amat player Los Osos ten years ago they would have won. Los Osos opened in 2002.

That would have been creampuff scheduling.

COJO,
Due to the usual scheduling scariness, I probably won't see C O play REAL football this season until the Damien game on Week 4.

Pioneer and the rest of the Del Rio will surprise a lot of teams this season, just not you guys; Chargers by 2 or 3 Tds.

I went to HS in Whittier many moons ago but have had sons playing with and against kids from a bunch of local schools including C O and S H for almost 20 years and have managed to keep touch with many of the families one way or the other.

Some guys collect stamps, I follow HS sports.

Don, did you happen to see Chargers vs Aliso N ? Allen was off on his pass attack but tough on his keepers 2 tds. Ran over and thru A N Ds. Williams 2 sacks and multiple tackels. Perri was good and Clapper solid. Pinoneer looks solid on paper, see if they can contain the bookends. By the way are you a CO grad or SH as you seem well versed on both. Viva football

Spell Check...
it's a blog, not a college paper...

DBARDAD,
Sorry, you got me. I don't know much about prep football. But it doesn't take much football knowledge to see that Diamond Bar lacks a sufficient player pool to field a competetive team. They will get beat this week by Walnut... and it's not because Walnut is a powerhouse, it's because DB just doesn't have the numbers. I'm not ripping DB, it's just how I see the game. We'll see how it goes - maybe your boys will pull it out???

Hey Just Wondering,

You need a serious spell check on your work before posting.

Mustang4Life,
Muir v. Oaks Christian - Great game between two top notch programs. Slight edge to OC based on their QB play. They took on a tuff team in Bakersfield the other week and won going away. Their tale back (#32 - I think his name is Johnson) will be the most highly recruited back from CA in many years when he's ready to graduate (he's only a junior). They enjoy tremendous coaching and financial support (must be nice having a dozen millionaire parents on the team!). So the way I see it, OC +10 or so. Should be a fun game to watch.

Just Wondering are you kidding or you know nothing about the prep game and are just guessing. Walnut over Diamond Bar by 24 points.. Have you even seen this years Walnut team. They may win 2 games this year. Garey and Nogales. Walnut has some junior talent that will not get it done this year but will be in the hunt next year. Do you lab work my friend. Diamond Bar 24 Walnut 14

Fred,

Good to see you picked SEM over SD. We won't let you down. Some of us watched SD last week, and we are not impressed. We'll get them by 14 points.

why is there no love for this town? Glendora is a solid team, for the past 7 seasons we've been a solid team

im turning my name over to tartanstanglover now.
stangs should of won by more dranch has just spirlin it will be a decent game but colony is way to fast for u.
glendora upland rematch of playoff ot thriller
hope they win glendora!

just wondering is right. amat suckssss

Dranch is sorry , They cant throw the ball down feild! and the o_line can't block worth sh!t ! What game were you watching? what did Dranch do right in friday nite game?

Are you kidding me mustangforlife ...Oaks Christian will win in a BIG WAY !
Muir won Friday , but DR would win if you played them again . Muir is in for a world of HURT come playoff time .Muir is not what they used to be , the 80's are OVER !

Muir vs. Oaks Chrisitian ... think about this 1

Sorry, meant to say "credit for getting beat by #30 and #7" Not #71. LO and OL are great teams, but Amat should be better! Amat should and could be in the top five in the state. The program needs some energy from someplace. We'll see how they do!

Historically Los Osos and Orange Luth are very average compared to Amat. Ten years ago both LO and OL would get clocked by Amat... they (LO and OL) wouldn't even get mentioned in the same breath as Bishop Amat. Lets face it, there was a time when Amat was in the conversation with teams like Long Beach Poly, De La Salle, and Corona Centienniel. Now they want credit for getting beat by #71. I've said it several times, Amat is better than their current program. They need a shot in the arm in the worst way. Los Osos and Orange Luth are very average when compared to what Amat could be! I'll stand by that till the cows come mooin home!

-Don
drops and penalties kept covina in the game? how bout 7 trunovers keeping bonita in the game. podley and his gang didnt see them coming. i saw a lot of positive things in covina. expect a W this week.

Just Wondering- you said "Amat continues to struggle against average teams." Los Osos was the 30th ranked team in the entire state and OLu is #7! When does Amat play those "average" teams?

Some great games coming up this week... Here's my 2 cents worth...

Northview v. Los Altos - LA +3 (unless Longoria goes, then they win by more)

Ganesha v. Gladstone - Gladstone +14, but you gotta feel a little sorry for Ganesha. Good boys trying real hard... they'll get there's some day!

South Hill v. Ayala - South Hills +17. Average Ayala team against a top notch system at SH. All SH All night.

San Dimas v. South El Monte - San Dimas +21. Too many weapons for SD. Line play will be critical.

Duarte v. Monrovia - Monrovia +7. This might be the best game of the week to watch. Very evenly matched and could go either way.

Covina v. Rosemead - Rosemead +14. Good things happening over at Rosemead. Lots of offensive weapons. Again, line play is critical on both sides of the ball.

Arroyo v. Temple City - Temple City +10. Normally I'd go with Arroyo here, but I don't think they'll match up well with Temple City's offense.

Bishop Amat v. Orange Luteran - OL +21 or more. Amat continues to struggle against average teams. They have some great tools and lots of tradition, but tradition won't win this year. I hope Amat gets stronger and stronger, their program needs a shot in the arm.

Blair v. West Covina - WC +21 or more. I think this will be the blow out of the week.

Glendora v. Upland - Glendora +3. This could go either way, but Glendora just seems like they're ready to make some positive moves.

Pioneer v. Charter Oak - CO +about 100. CO all night, no chance here for Pioneer.

St. John Boscoe v. Damien - SJB +21. No work at all for SJB. Damien is really average this year.

Clairmont v. Bonita - Clairmont +3. Another close game and Bonita could easily be on the +3 side of things when the buzzer rings.

Montibello v. Baldwin Park - BP +10. I like Baldwin Park this year. If not for San Dimas, BP would be the league winner.

La Puente v. El Monte - Too close to call. La Puente looks better on paper but I haven't watched either of these teams practice or play, so no strong opinion either way.

Sonora v. Wilson - Sonora +21. Wilson has big issues as pointed out on this blog. They've aparently lost their #1 back (and maybe the top back in the SGV) to a suspension. There is some talk that he'll be playing, but it's just talk at this point.

California v. Rowland - Cal +10. Too average teams from their respective leagues.

Garey v. Nogales - These teams are both poor this year. This could come down to a couple of big special team plays. The winner - who the heck knows???

Diamond Ranch v. Colony - Colony +10. Colony is good this year and DR is not at their best. DR could pull this one out, but it would really be an upset.

Walnut v. Diamond Bar - Walnut big like +24 or more. Poor old Diamond Bar just doesn't have sufficient play pool to field a competetive team.

Firebaugh v. Bassett - Firebaugh +21. Firebaugh has a really good team this year. Lots of returning seniors and a great overall program.

Marshall v. Azusa - Azusa by 2... maybe by 1. Final score Azusa 3, Marshall 2. Couple of powerhouses here!

Keppel v. Workman - Keppel +10. Just a better team, nothing special on either side of the ball in this game.

Sierra Vista v. Montclair - SV +21. Big win over a substandard Montclair team.

Calvary Chapel Downey v. Western Christian - WC +21 - even though I go to a Calvary Chapel!

Have fun boys and stay safe!

Fight On

Fred,
USC - OSU thread would be cool! You might end up with USC - OSU comments on all the other threads if you don't designate one for the game... kind of a Wilson High School thing if you know what I mean...

go buckeyes.

You guys want an Ohio State-USC thread on Saturday?

The USC/Ohio State game will be allot closer then what experts are saying. As of right now the Trojans are 10 points favorite. This is not Virginia USC wins this game by not by more then 10 points. Take the Buckeyes and the points.

Just watch & see how well the Panthers do this week ...I predict 28-10 win . And watch the Trojans DESTROY ...

THEE Ohio State University
