Tribune Top Ten Poll

South Hills QB Cameron Deen opens on Friday at Ayala.

Note: Charter Oak jumps up two spots to No. 2 with Bishop Amat dropping to three and Diamond Ranch falling from No. 3 to No. 6. Bonita and San Dimas move up a notch to No. 5 and 6, respectively.

Tribune top ten rankings
1. South Hills (0-0)
Ayala should be a good test in opener
2. Charter Oak (1-0)
With Allen, Muema, most balanced offense around
3. Bishop Amat (0-1)
Blew third-quarter lead, won't get easier at Orange Lutheran
4. Bonita (1-0)
53 points in win over Covina, and still was a struggle
5. San Dimas (1-0)
Huge win over Los Altos, Mid-Valley clash with South El Monte next
6. Diamond Ranch (0-1)
Schedule gets even tougher. Will they even finish .500
7. West Covina (1-0)
Easy win over El Rancho and with Blair next, should be 2-0 going into Amat game.
8. Glendora (0-0)
Rematch with Upland after great second round playoff win last fall.
9. Northview (0-0)
Los Altos of the past would crush VVL teams, but not this year.
10. South El Monte (0-0)
Mid-Valley test with S.Dimas, go with the Eagles in this one.

Note: The Tribune's super top 31 list comes out next week after each team has played at least one game.

kiss my plaid

You see why you shouldn't talk trash.

Prove something then talk. Glendora should be out of the top ten now. Just an average team, nothing special and no year of the tartan crap!

ok soo san dimas fan,

i have to admit u guys do have some talent, but you guys are really doubting south el monte they are young but there offense is explosive. with garay coming back and manny acosta at reciver the secondary is going to get ripped apart and lets not forget neiko padilla the jr has speed and power, dont be surprised if you see couple broken ankles out there but if the d line steps up i think south el monte comes up on top

should be a great game

GOODLUCK EAGLES!!!!

so when glendora comes out and rolls over upland.. again will it be just and UPSET? or will you dumb asses finally come out and say glendora is a good team, or when they roll through the league.. again did we just get LUCKY? or are we just that good... AGAIN!!!

donkey boy,
You are slipping. You are starting to use a capital A in AMAT when you post.

What do you mean we are no longer number one? Do you know how many CIF titles we had 20 years ago? this is Amat dare you! We could go 0 - 10 and have the right to be number 1.

I am sure hoping you played to the end JO. You did and at the end of the game you came home with a L on you record. SD overated? teams do not start getting a good feel for the season until around the 3-4th game. If you are not hitting on all cylinders by then look for a long season. This goes for all teams not just LA.

Jo,
And Los Altos will get punched in the mouth again by Northview Thurs. So where should that put you on next weeks list...you guessed it..not in the top ten and nowhere to be found. Even with a loss at Orange Lutheran the Lancers will stay in that top 5 until they start playing those next three games after that. SGV teams, West Covina, Damien and Diamond Ranch. Then we will see how it shakes out.

To all those why Amat number 3? Play the first two games of our season tell me how you would stack up and tell me where we would place you. I do not think any SGV team including our supposed best CO and SH could beat Los Osos and Orange Lutheran out of the gate. It is not the W-L it is also the level of competition you play.

Fred:

Lets get real here. CO first three games are against teams that went 9-21. They seem to be taking a soft approach to the pre-season. # 2, I doubt it!

What the hell is amat number 3 and san dimas is way overrated La played to the end what game were you watching.

Just Wondering and Don,

The only way SEM gets a win over San Dimas is if the Defensive Secondary don't play up to their pontential. The rest of the team is virtually overwhelming.

Prediction:
Good Secondary: SD 42 SEM 17
Bad Secondary: SD 28 SEM 24

amat at 3rd? come on now fred. they should have dropped lower. more like 7 or 8th

Don,
I think you're right on the money with SD slapping down SEM this Friday. The Saints played poorly last Friday and beat Los Altos. Albeit a week LA team compared to past offerings. Saints look strong this season and thier assignment to a new CIF section might lead to a CIF championship??? We'll see.

There is nothing like a list to set folks off. These Trib top ten rankings are very interesting. One might even wonder whether Mr. Robledo and Mr. Ramirez planned together to work a few Bulldog and Tartan fans into a blogging frenzy.

Nah, nice guys like that couldn't ever be that conniving.

South Hills – Huskies ought to smoke Ayala, week 2 is the real test
Charter Oak – Hard to proclaim the Chargers the most balance O with S H right here over their heads
Bishop Amat – 4 pt loss to L O, now they take on one of the top 5 teams in the section, hmmmn
Bonita – JMO, but I think the next three teams listed could whip BoHi right now
San Dimas – Limit mistakes + control ball with studly running game = Rings
Diamond Ranch – There must be more happening in Pantherland other than just missing a QB
West Covina – Hard not to see these guys at least in the SE quarters
Glendora – Ya gotta wonder how these guys got way down here without even playing a game yet
Northview – Great Baseball Team; see you at the Lidle
South El Monte – Ask me after the Saints do a beat down on these guys Friday

atttention prepfootballjunkie, amat is #1, until your co team or anyone else in the sgv can beat them, ask farrar why he doesn't schedule them anymore, he couldn't beat them.ask bogan at sh the same question, ask glendora, amat will sweep wc,dranch and damien.3 and 7 or 7 and 3 stilll the cream of the crap in sgv

Realisticly Amat is going 5-5 and at seasons end this will get them in the top 5 of the Tribune rankings,, based on whom they played. If not 5-5 and they go 4-6 it is a another dissappointment for the Lancers. If they should go above 5-5 and go 6-4 or better then they will rank in the top 3. I do believe Amat will miss the playoffs again by not winning one league game vs the likes of Loyola, Crespi and Notre Dame. To win 2 out of three in the Serra will be difficult, If they pull off the unthinkable then wins will have to come against Sherman Oaks Notre Dame and Loyola because they are not going to beat Crespi.

San Dimas wouldnt even take a matchup with Glendora, and Since Charter Oak is 1000 x's better then glendora, it would of been a good game with san dimas and glendora right?

Good rankings I just think that beofre the season is over Bonita and Diamond Ranch wont be as good as everyone thought. Those two teams always seem to find a way to play their worst games against Charter Oak. Also it will be interesting to see a 1-9 (Amat) team be ranked at the end of the year. Finally why couldn't we have seen a Charter Oak/San Dimas matchup this year? Rumor is that Charter Oak tried to schedule but San Dimas wouldn't take the call.
