Bishop Breakdown

We'll post a Bishop Breakdown thread on Monday's to evaluate Friday night's games, the players, coaching staff's, and the next opponent.

With the coaching staff in place, this feels like a make or break year at Bishop Amat. It's probably not fair to expect too much from Steve Hagerty and staff in their first season, but there's nothing like the excitement and emotions of a quick turnaround. Whatever happens, week-by-week, we'll follow the ride.

Last week: Bishop Amat 47, Damien 24
Oct 10: Diamond Ranch (1-3) at Bishop Amat (3-1)

Hagerty's a great quote, here are some of the things he said in today's notebook.

On the bye week: "We will eliminate it next year. I think high school kids are better when they get to grow every week. When you take the week off and you can only wear helmets, it messes up the routine. I don't like the interruption."

On excitement of 3-1 start: "I don't like to get giddy about anything. They were asking (Alabama coach Nick) Saban about rankings, and his response was, `Do you remember who was ranked first at this time last year? Do you remember who was winning the Olympic marathon halfway through the race?' Winning right now is great for the program, it's great for the players, but I'll be happier if we win when it matters."

On competition: "In all honesty, and this is no disrespect to West Covina, but wins like that don't get us ready for the grind. They're important locally, but it doesn't get you ready for the big-time teams we're going to face at the end. It would be great to be 6-1 when we get to league, but if we end up 6-4, I don't see how you feel good about that. I'd rather be 0-7 and end up 3-7 with a Serra League title. I'd take that in a heartbeat."

On perhaps scheduling South Hills: "That's more up to South Hills. When we played them in the summer (passing league), there were people lining the fences. It never dawned on me how many people thought they could measure something from that. We wouldn't be opposed to it at all."

Fred says: Personally, I think Charter Oak would have the best chance of competing against Bishop Amat next season. Adam Muema will be a senior, and think of the storyline if Thropay's the quarterback. Good stuff, right?

KS,

Alumni donations have been on the relative decline since the Clinton administration. Many alumni have been at odds with the former St Paul principal for quite some time. As soon as MSGr Swordsman is gone, things will really be looking up.

I always enjoy amat grads sparring. Makes for interesting blogging. One thing that hasn't been brought up is the current economy. Isn't it possible the lack of donations at Amat has to do with individuals tighting the old personal purse strings?

BS,

An Alumnus is defined as someone who *attended* the school. Each of the colleges I attended send me alumni correspondence (with an envelope for donations of course)

So Rix is a former Amat player, an alumnus (just like You. Me & 73), he just cannot benefit from calling himself an Amat graduate - something that if you talked with him you would know he regrets.

The football coach should hire the most qualified assistant coaches available. Is there a QB coach more qualified out there knocking down the door? Certainly not last years.

If you went to the school when you say you did then you probably have other friends that fit in the same category as Rix. I do. Deans of Discipline in that era were known for their periodic "purge" of students. None of them, nor I, want to be judged by the kind of person they were when they were 17. Do you?

Record aside, all you have to do is see the attitude surrounding the program to see that it has "turned around" from the last couple years. As an alum I'm sure that THAT is what you can be proud of.

And if you are around as much as you say, then you know that the decline in alumni giving is far greater a function of MSGr than it is anything related to football. When he leaves - the dollars will return at a much greater rate.

bs or ba,
I walked the halls with Kevin his older brother so were even. I am there plenty and if you have a problem with Rix than so be it.Just say you personally don't like him and it ends there. As far as the 3 wins being your measuring stick just look at the way we are playing and being prepared for the games and what goes on on the sidelines during the game . There is a huge difference then what was going on the past few years even before Verti. As far as seeing you at AMAT how am I going to recognize you unless you wear a t-shirt that has - I am bs or ba -printed on it. No need to get angry , but the way you're attacking Hags and Rix it came over kind of personal , that was the reason for the last line in my comment. It was written in jest.

Amat 73...Boo hoo..my feelings are hurt...Let's clear the air here. I'm Hagerty's age and walked those Amat halls with him. I'm not sold on him! I need more than 3 wins to toot his horn as to how he turned this program around. Rix, well, not a fan..Again it is what it is..As far the girlfriend thing, dude, come on! Hey, get out of your basement come to Amat and you'll see me there..Yeah, I'm so out of touch..Get a clue, loser

ba or bs,
I can guarranty you those alumni dollars are coming back to the fold. All it took was for Msgr. to realize how much money he was losing due to his bad judgement on his last choice for our football coach. Before anyone starts this is no knock on Verti, he was just not prepared or ready for the job. If you don't think Msgr. took into account those losses in the choice for the new coach then you are sadly mistaken. Just when did you graduate and how much are you envolved with AMAT because that might have something to do with you being so out of touch as to what goes on at AMAT. Or is this all sour grapes because Rix stole your girlfriend when you were at AMAT and maybe Hags gave you to many detentions.

Many will agree with what I have to say. Now, whether they respond on the blog, who knows. This is the reason Amat is where it is. Amat is losing out on alot of money from alumni who feel the same. Listen, bro, IT IS WHAT IT IS...

There are many Amat Football players from 1996-2002 that do not like Chris Rix. Plain and simple. These were guys that knew him as a teammate, student and person. They only know what they knew of him then. I suggest that they try to talk to him so they can get a fresher idea of who he is. If they don't want to, fine. They are entitled to keep their same opinions. Heck, he earned them.

Hagerty is doing a good job and shutting up all these idiot lancer fans in the stands. I was tired of their act the past six years. They pretend to be fans and talk crap the whole game. Nothing to b!tch about now. Thank You Hagerty for making these idiots shut up and my family can enjoy games once again.

BS,

Using your logic Difiori should only be coaching at DeLaSalle where he graduated from?

Now I love Coach D as a coordinator or a position coach, and you sound like you're on his bandwagon, but how quickly you forget...HE left us too... by his own accord... twice!... as an adult - not a HS kid.

Left us to go to Temple City. Left us to "spend more time with his family" and coach at La Salle.

We welcome him back - AND WE SHOULD! Why not others?

The bandwagon is off and running! Listen, when Hagerty has a couple league championships and a couple CIF titles (at Amat) then we can start banging his drum. Too early in the game! As for Rix, are you crediting him for McClanahans talent? Rix has been trying to weenie his way back into Amat for years! Verti wasn't the only one turning him down. Rix can coach all he wants, at Santa Margarita. Why did they fail to mention all of that? As far as qualified coaches on Hagertys staff? I can name one. A no nonsense good guy. A few years ago players were under the impression they would be playing for DiFiori but got Verti. you're drinking too much of your own koolaid cuz no one ever said they had to be Amat alumni to coach. Amats wins, so far have been a collective effort. Amat 73, I think our QB's would've dne fine without Rix. He can coach all he wants, AT SANTA MARGARITA! He can tutor those fine young boys on HOW TO CHEAT! Verti and the others these past years made the right decision when they kept turning hm down. Lancers 1775, what years did you play at Amat? I played all 4 and ya know, my mommy didn't have to get me that coaching job at Amat.

it's obvious BS played in the Verti era - who was one of the biggest Rix bashers. Rix volunteered to coach for him and Verti turned him down twice. how'd that work out for him?

does anyone know why certain comments do not make it to this page? initially, i thought i was doing something technically wrong so i tried to submit several times to no avail. can anyone explain the policy?

BA BS , WHICH YEARS DID YOU PLAY AT AMAT?

You do not have to be a Alumni to be on the coaching staff at Amat. This guy BS BA does not know what he is talking about. Then I guess Ken Norton Coaching at USC Is wrong and their tradition is whacked. Qualified coaches are what Hagerty put in place. Tradition of Amat never left, got shaken the past two years, yes, Restored by Hagerty absolutely. Amat season will end where it ends this season after 4 games they are 3-1 and those 3 wins are alot better then what this team has done the past two years. With 6 more games I woud say thats a huge improvement. Credit that coaching staff and the players who bought into the plan of Hagerty. Verti had no plan and you see where that got him. This team is being coached this year and good things are happening.

ba or bs,
We all know the story on Rix and how he was asked to leave AMAT. He broke the rules and the school took action. What is the correlation between then and now as far as he's a coach and that is what he was hired for , to coach. As far as Hags he has brought back tradition with team and respectability to the program. Now as I can see if you have a beef with Msgr. stand in line because there many before you who feel the same way. Also what political garbage are you speaking of that Hags is continuing at AMAT. By the way I am no particular fan of Rix but he is doing a good job and guess what ,he is a former AMAT player just as all the players who bailed last season because of the past regime and transfered out. They are all former players not fellow alumni which no one is intending Rix to be.

i'm not sure i follow the logic. since rix did not finish at amat, he shouldn't be brought back as a coach? hagerty's wrong for having someone who's eminently qualified to tutor young quarterbacks coach at amat? please explain as i'm not able to follow that logic.

Just a comment from an Amat graduate...Great to see Amat winning games, but back on top? Too soon to tell, don't ya think? Too many people giving Hagerty a bit too much credit! Hagerty bringing back Amat TRADITION? I think not!Just a tidbit of info: AMAT QB COACH CHRIS RIX is paraded around as a FORMER AMAT PLAYER. CHRIS RIX was KICKED OUT OF AMAT AND PLAYED HIS LAST HIGH SCHOOL SEASON AT SANTA MARGARITA! MY, HOW AMAT FORGETS, RIGHT MONSIGNOR?! What a slap in the face it is to those LANCERS THAT GAVE THEIR SWEAT AND LOYALTY ALL 4 YEARS! So, for those who think HAGERTY is bringing back the AMAT TRADITION, sorry folks, he's continuing the political garbage that has become AMAT. I'm sure I'll be getting many responses from the CHRIS RIX BANDWAGON. Save it people, IT IS WHAT IT IS!

that's funny

Amat has changed over the past couple of years from a power house to a school that is struggling with the change of head coaches. 4 years ago amat played mater dei, servite, santa margarita, loyola, and st john bosco yearly in league. Everyone respected them because they came out of the league with a couple wins and dominated the san gabriel valley easily. CIF changed coaches changed and league changed. New coaching staff did not do so well and they go 5-5 and 3-7. And yet they still dominate the SGV. Any charger fan, huskie fan, spartan fan...any fan in the san gabriel valley knows that if they beat amat, the chances are slim to win. Amat has tried and scheduled them to play but from recent past events no one will play them unless their team is "the" team. So no matter how much you critics talk about how amat is down and they are just asking for attention, Your wrong. Amat is proving a point that even though they are in a League NO ONE in the valley will ever be in (Playing Notre Dame, Loyola, and Crespi) they still prove that no one at the moment can compete with Amat. Yes Charter Oak scored the same points and have a high scoring offense, but the Coaching staff that Amat has this year is prepared for any task. The players believe in themselves and know they can win. So please rethink what you say about Bishop Amat because even though they have had rough seasons, they still dominate and so far they need to Schedule you To PROVE THAT FACT! and as for league i wish them the ultimate best because i know it will be incredibly tough for them to go 3-0 or even 2-1.

On Blue!

west covinas 4-1 and their only loss is to Amat, and beat glendora. that should get WC some props, ya think? not an opinion just what happened.

Ok then your right but hey what about amat they played West Covina and i wouldn't give them any special ranking you the sgv because they got destroyed by amat.......let's see amat and charter oak have both played and i am going to say that both teams won by pretty much the same margin of points plus amat had the homefield advantage so really i think in a game right now CO can hand it to Amat thats just my opinion REALITY CZECH

CO dropped BA and SH won't schedule-for the same reason-they'd get beat. make sense if you beat teams in an area-you should be ranked in that area. why would you have to schedule teams from OUT of the area? And the 1st 3 teams CO beat were garbage

YOU know everybody has a right too promote their school but the one thing that gets a lot of people mad is how cocky AMAT bloggers, fans, alumni, etc.. are. They think that now that they are 3-1 gives them the ticket to number one in the SGV. they have played teams that South Hills, Charter Oak and even West Covina have played. I say if Bishop wants to prove something that they are a SUCH A GREAT school I say they move into a tougher area or just schedule teams that are of such GREATER COMPETITION and then they can honestly say they are a TRUE D1 school because all I see is a school desperate for attention because there program has DEEPLY fallin in the last 6 or 7 years. THey play the same competion that your AVERAGE sgv football team plays in the PRESEASON. So I think that if they want to be the true best in the SGV play teams in SGV like the likes of CHARTER OAK, SOUTH HILLS, ETC... PERSONALLY I THINK CHARTER OAK OR SOUTH HILLS CAN TAKE bishop amat ANY FRIDAY NIGHT I SAY THEY SCHEDULE CHARTER OAK OR SOUTH HILLS NEXT YEAR!!!!!!!

rock,
Hell of a coincidence that the sun came out and you appear on the blog. Coming out under your rock to get your daily dose of sun . I have stated many times before we are headed in the right direction but it is to early to tell. We still have some tuff games ahead of us including next weeks with DR.If we continue to improve and get a couple of wins in league we will be there. If we are fortunate enough for that to happen , we could go along way seeing as the teams in our league will give us the type of competition a team needs to go far in the Pac-5.Now that I have answered your question,I have one for you . What is an asx wipe ?

Rock

AMAT 73 doesn't "know all."

He just knows more than you.

Let Amat run up score with starters playing all the way and smash them by 80+ points. Then everyone can be happy we are the king of the SGV. Geeze we beat WC and Damien and everyone goes nutz. We are supposed to win those games? Why so you can flip the coin and claim what a bully we are being. Maybe we should move down to D5 like baseball and just Beat everyone down then you can say wow playing Mary of the Star HS your team should be playing Orange Lutheran..well we did and Won ...Get over it we are having a decent year so far. Critics geeze !

Rock,

What did "do's and don'ts" say that makes you think he's an Amat guy?

FYI-OLu is a Division 1 school whose only loss is to Amat. "Win the games your supposed to?" That's not always that easy now is it. Ask OLu. Or Glendora. USC. The Patriots. Any Friday, right?

How does a D1 school "schedule up" anyway using that theory? There are no divisions higher. The "up" part of their schedule is ahead.

As is, CalPreps ranks Amat's schedule as the 10th toughest of the Top 40 teams in the State, MaxPreps has it 8th.

Playing in the 4-team Serra League (which CalPreps ranks as the toughest in California - even over the Trinity league) creates an interesting dynamic when it comes to scheduling.

Typically playoff caliber teams have a couple of bottom feeders in league like Wilson, Nogales, or Ganesha (although sincere HUGE props for their improvement this season!). This makes your 10-game schedule a little reasonable. If you consider that these local games may replace a couple of those kinds of teams, and are MUCH tougher at the same time - it makes the schedule a bit more manageable.

Plus scheduling a couple locals obviously allows for the relative comparisons needed to overcome the local propaganda.

The reality is unless Amat wins big (8-2, 9-1, etc) and goes deep in the playoffs, the knock from clowns that come on here will will always be that teams like South Hills and Charter Oak achieve more in the playoffs... so they "must" be better.

The comparison after a couple local games allows us to quiet that ... just a bit.

rock,

you are wrong again. damien made the playoffs last year.

rock,
Someone comes on here to make a comment about spell check and you go into a rage on AMAT.What and where is the connection between the two. Speaking of bs why don't you just tell us your true feelings. By the way OL is d-1,pac 5 and a member of the trinity league . As for rock is that your name or the place you crawled out from under.

The do's and dont's,

Be careful what you say...Karma could come back to bite you! I will get back to you when Amat fails to make the playoffs this year. So far, they beat an over rated div-3 OL team, beat WC, and a Damien team who did not make the playoffs last year. WOW!! That's an incredible accomblishment for the only Div-1 team in the SGV who by the way, is also rated number one by the Amat Tribune. Amat is winning the games they should be winning considering all the hype. I want to see how much BS you talk on here when they get blown out in league.

scheduling up can advantageous for schools, but ad's and coaches should assess where they are in terms of program and talent before scheduling the upper echelon teams. as for amat and olu, i wouldn't consider that scheduling up for amat because it's a div 1 pac-5 school itself. i guess talent would determine whether or not any team amat schedules could be considered as "scheduling up". i just don't see it. ultimately, amat should be seen in the same light as any divison 1 power if talent and program permits. you know, i guess amat's recent performance has really lowered its expectations. i think those expectations will continue to rise in coming years.

Fred,

That's pretty funny. Btw, if sports writers were required to have played ALL the sports they cover....well, we'd have NO sports writers. Keep up the good work Fred!

Yes, I played futbol.

Living Legend asks why would CO play Amat? Why does anyone in the valley play Amat? To get BETTER! Yes they may have been "SMASHED" (IYO) but by playing the better teams, this makes you a better team. So I am all in favor of putting them back on our schedule, but that decision is not mine to make. The comment you made about CO being beat by 4 touchdowns was exactly what most of here on this blog thought O LU would do to Amat this year. But that’s why we play the game….right?

P.S. Hand DR their hat next week! Good luck the rest of the year.

Fred you dont get it do you...why would CO play Amat.....last time CO tried to man up they got smashed and they were loaded, talking about CO being loaded....so even with Adam as a senior they would get beat by 4 touchdowns....did you ever play football?

Lancer 2Dn was just telling it the way it is.

Not need to get all bent out of shape spell checker.

As for Eric...well, of course he is entitled to an opinion (if it's a valid take), but as I re-read his post, I wonder what value a take down like that has on this blog if the issue happened two years ago ?

I'm glad I'm not the only one that heard the pamper story before.

LA insider,

Coming in to talk spell check. Well why the hell not there is not much talk concerning his football team Los Altos as they are headed for the cellar very early and there is no light at the end of the tunnel. 1-9 2-8. Fire Felipe already. He is a Kiffin waiting to happen.

I think it is highly unlikely that eric is a Amat Alum but I will research it by looking into the yearbook and narrowing it down so if u are posing eric why don't u save me the trouble and time and just say that u are not an Amat Alumni if u are thats fine u are entitled to your opinion

Easy E:

You can send ur kid(s) elsewere ! Read the post below, it was written by someone who has connections to Long Beach Poly by the name "Dennis". As in Hershel Dennis from LBP & USC.

"spell this..."

WELCOME TO ENGLISH 101 MORON:

A LOT: "Many"

ALLOT: "To distribute."

Unless Lancer 2DN was trying to say that "South Hills is losing DISTRIBUTE of players this year" then Spell Check was correct and you are wrong.

Why do dumb people feel the need to come on this blog and pretend that they are smart?

I must say I really like where Bishop Amat is headed and I think Hagerty has done a fine job. With that I think Hagerty should be coach of the year even if Amat only finishes at least 7-3 with a playoff birth. He had to rebuild a team from the ground up and he brought along one of the finest coaching staff Southern California has ever seen to help him. I have had the opportunity to meet a lot of the top head coaches in Southern California such as coach Rolinson of Mater Dei, and Coach Smith from Servite, etc. etc, but there is just something about Hagerty and Amat. A genuine guy who believes the best will play regardless of age or background along with the tradition Amat used to have and how he wants to bring that back…what parent wouldn’t want their kid to be apart of that. My nephew played at Long Beach Poly and at USC as a running back and would love my twins to go play at Poly. But a great education, mixed with safety, tradition, and a return to glory team…The Dennis twins will be at Amat next year as freshman. To all the parents with incoming freshman who have kids who love an education plus a football tradition…come to Amat….CIF champions 2012. I’ve been reading these blogs the last month or so, and I like how Amat has that love and hate relationship with the other sgv bloggers and schools. That’s when you know the difference between a high school football team and a High School Football Team.

eric,
If you really are eric and an alumni what is your point in reposting something long past. If you truly are eric the alumn why didn't you do anything about what you saw happening. If you do have the pride that you state I am sure you would have spoken up at the time and maybe these people would have listened or maybe not but to stand by and do nothing then you were just contributing to problem as much as they are creating it. Now please answer this question. Exactly what is your point?

Eric,
you are a poser from Monrovia. Let me get this straight, you went to the Amat game vs Monrovia in Riverside right? If you are so ashamed of your alma mater playing down in D5 baseball why the hell did you show up to begin with. Yes to see Amat play and win?. Playing the Poor Monrovia card, they rightfully deserve this championship is down right stupid of you. What did you go to the game to people watch? Which side did you sit on Monrovias because you felt sorry for them or on Amat because you are ALLEGEDLY a Alumni. Stop being a poser and get out of here and go to a blog and give your 2 cents on how the US is going to clear up this great Depression of ours.

Pupland#1
you can pay to watch the games like everyone else. the best your going to see is in passing league. let your cousins coach schedule a game and let the boys on the field determine the outcome.

classic-a repost about the Amat/Monrovia baseball final from two baseball seasons ago!
NOW you're really reaching!
Eric either isn't really a graduate-or got cut in '94

Spell Check,
Thanks for your teachings. He did get you to read his post which is what this is all about. By the way Allot is a word. You spelled it incorrectly. This could get real fun if we all go after one anothers spelling.

I am an AMAT alumn '94. Let me share with you all who read this, there is a new breed of Lancer followers that alot of alumn are not proud of. Things have changed at the school. I was in attendence at the game with my wife and child and was pretty embarrassed how the AMAT faithful was acting. My wife and I witnessed the 'AMAT Mom' slide the soiled pamper under the SUV parked next to her car where she had just changed her infant. Funny because the SUV she slid it under had the golden "A" on the rear windshield! We were appaled at this especially because there was a trash can within sight. Things only got worse on our way to the gate as we witnessed several blue and gold costumed AMAT fans openly drinking beers and what appeared to be wine coolers. As we entered the game and it got under way I further couldn't believe how 'Classless' our fans have become.
As far as the Lancer Baseball team, I am aware of the situation with the drop in divisions and all that. That is beyond the players control. The bottom line is my school markets itself (recruits) by how many CIF Championships it has. An easy way to add to this total is to drop to the lowest division possible and win as expected. We robbed Monrovia of its right to have been Back to Back Champions of Division V.
The entry below me brags about how our team beat upper division teams all year. This is because that is where we belong! As far as others saying that we should be worrying about, other bigger topics going on in the world, that is an irrelavant statement for the simple fact that just because we choose to share our insight and experience from the Championship game here doesn't mean that this is all we are doing and I speak for 99% of the people on here. This is why Aram created it. So why don't you go elsewhere, to other blogs for worldly topics?
Bottom line again is Monrovia was robbed by CIF. As for my alma mater, I think I'll be sending my kid elsewhere. The days of where AMAT stood for gracious pride, compassion, winning and class is over. I am deeply ashamed that AMAT has become a wasteland for these working class parents that don't think more to carry themselves better and sent an example. There is a time and place for everything. Bars were made for drinking. High School's were made to educate our children and enjoy their accomplishments as they shape their lives into responsible adults and prepare for the future. How can we ensure this if parents are carrying on the way they did acting like uncivilized immoral classless drunkards? Yes, what happened and how parents and Alumn carried on and acted made just as much of a story as what happened on the field. I really don't see it getting any better.
As for Mr. Tolegian, ignore what was going on all you want. Everyone that had any kind of awareness of what is going around them knows AMAT is going downhill.
Apologies to Monrovia. They are the real Division V Champions. I feel really bad about what I witnessed and am very sad to see what my school has become.
Ashamed to be a Lancer,
Eric

LANCER RDD2;

YOU FAILED AGAIN! (ALLOT)???
A LOT!
(BOGAN KNOW BEST...???)LOL..
BOGAN KNOWS BEST!

(CANNOT)???
CAN'T, OR TWO WORDS, CAN NOT!

( PASSES SPELLCHECK)?
SPELL CHECK IS TWO WORDS!

The other stuff is just, yada, yada, yada! KEEP TRYING THOUGH!(WE ARE AMAT)NICE SLOGAN!

Hagerty is no fool. He will take on a SGV team if they want to play Amat. From the West, Rosemead to East, Glendora and everyone in between. Thats is such a great recruting tool for him to get the best players to enroll at Bishop Amat for Education and of course football. You have to almost guess after this season the intrest in Amat has grown on WC,Damien and any other parents of players that are hearing of this upswing over at Amat. JAA team from CO on the sidelines? Problems in HH in both schools. This coach is no fool, he is spreading the word and will soon be the coach that kids and their parents want to play for.

Keep On Truckin' Lancers .

Go Get some MORE respect each and every game . I already like what this new HC has to say , seems like a focused group over there now .

FIGHT ON
TM

I was one who lined the fence that passing league day. True you cannot gauge a matchup by that. SH looked better then Amat (in passing league). If South Hills wants a game next year with Amat, identical outcome will happen as this year WC game. Lets face it South Hills is losing allot of players this year, most notably Cameron Deen, Amat is bringing back a very talented team with Starting QB McClanahan coming back next year. It would be the wrong time for South Hills to try Amat next year but they will not inquire, Bogan know best...This year may have been a good matchup, but I think Amat wins by at least 2 TD'S over the Huskies. On Winning League and when it counts, Amat has just as good of chance as the rest of the Serra league. Hagerty has been there, he knows exactly what playoff CIF football is all about, he will have the Lancers ready. DAMN, I HOPE THIS PASSES SPELLCHECK.
