Saturday Morning Quarterback: South Hills, Charter Oak, West Covina, Rosemead and Rowland all impressive again

For quarter-by-quarter updates of tonight's games, click link

Friday's results
South Hills 27, Northview 14 -- The Vikes came out with the tricks and looked like they might hang around for a while, but the Huskies were too big and physical.
Charter Oak 42, Damien 21 -- Hmm, should we start rethinking No. 1? After all, they're undefeated. Impressive Chargers, very impressive.
Baldwin Park 10, El Monte 0 -- After getting humbled last week, Braves defense does it again.
West Covina 20, Los Altos 7 -- Okay, so the Conquerors are the best 0-4 team in the Valley. The Bulldogs didn't play particularly well, but still good enough.
Rosemead 45, Temple City 14 - - Panthers keep smashing area teams, but they get South Hills next.
Rowland 42, Covina 21 -- It's looking more and more like the Raiders are back, beating up on another Valle Vista league opponent.
Ayala 42, South El Monte 21 -- It has to be tough when you can't stop anyone. But then again, they were 0-4 and rebounded last year.
Azusa 47, La Puente 17 -- This is what the Aztecs needed after last weeks hiccup against Aquinas. Back to scoring and scoring big.
Duarte 55, Sierra Vista 39 -- Falcons were losing this early, but came back and rolled a double-nickel on the Dons.
Workman 26, Bassett 14 -- In the wild, wild, Montview, don't forget about the 3-1 Lobos.
Glendora 28, West Ranch 24 -- Drew Kaluzny scores on quarterback sneak with nine seconds left to rally the Tartans to victory.
Nogales 28, Montclair 14 -- Nobles finally get in the win column, and beat a decent team to boot.
Diamond Bar 33, Troy 28 -- After a penalty on its Hail Mary, Brahmas get another chance and win it.
Walnut 14, Arroyo 10 -- This had blowout written all over it, but the Knights hung tough all the way to the end.
Montebello 42, Wilson 14 -- With or without Tim Gilmore, Wildcats need to find a way to slow teams down.
Pomona 21, Gabrielino 14 -- Another Valle Vista league wild-card keeps on winning.

the New England Patriots had no idea how to stop the Miami Dolphins "Wild Hog" direct snaps to Ron Brown either. 5 plays - 4 touchdowns. it happens

LA Insider,

Since you need an education, I will give it to you. The LA Frosh team has four coaches at their practices. With four coaches you can effectively have 44 kids playing at the same time. You run two offensives and two defensives one coach watches each one. You can then have kids rotating out every 5 plays getting all the kids involved. If you are questioning that can work then talk to last years frosh coaches at Wilson that is how they ran their practices.

Now you bring up the score of the last game, no one is questioning the talent on the team. This team is going to end up somewhere around 6-4. With the talent they should be 5-0. As Fries has said in the past, this is the most talented frosh team in LA history. If that is so why do they currently have a 3-2 record? Coaching, example; why is it that this team had no clue how to stop a double wing and wing T offense (San Dimas/West Covina)? That is coaching and that is LA two losses on the season.

Says 7:30 on my sons LA schedule.

LA fans,

What time is game tonight?

7:00 or 7:30?

thanks

SEC,

Appreciate the response!

My questions ARE for real.

Trying to get a feel for the mindset of folks LIKE LA Insider.

tcbruin

Are you really looking for an answer, or just being rhetorical?

As there are no rings handed out at the frosh level, the answer to your winning/development question has to fall on the development side. If you only have 20 kids who understand the fundamentals of the game every year, you're set for failure as they reach varsity level. Lack of depth may not show through pre-league, but come league, and playoffs, you're baked.

If frosh reserve teams are not important to a continually winning program, why has LA had them, since the beginning of the DeSpain years in the early 1970's? LA may have recruited a nugget, or two over the years, but the core of the team was based on homegrown kids, some developed from frosh reserve.

I think it's a dis-service to the "bottom" 30-40 kids on the team, that they are not allowed a chance to show they can perform even at a reserve level. Remember these are 14 year old kids, and they've got four years of growing yet to do. How many potential nuggets are being discouraged from the game due to the lack of attention they currently aren't getting?

LA Insider and others, questions - What is MOST important at the Frosh level: Winning or teaching/developing players skills?

Is a Frosh reserve team important to a HS FB program?

LA Insider

FAIL

OH,

And please explain the drill that two coaches can run with 80 kids that is an effective use of time and makes the team better. PLEASE outline that one for us all!

Go to any HS and you'll see the same thing...the 20-30 kids who play doing the team drills and everyone else just standing around.

Once again...THIS IS HIGH SCHOOL! We don't let every Dad standing on the sidelines come out and coach so we can have 15 drills going on at once. If you don't like it, then go back to JAA or PW, thanks.

Anyone of you haters see the Frosh football game today? Wow, those coaches sure suck huh? (read with sarcasm!) LA DEMOLISHED La Serna this afternoon!

Ummm...last time I checked this is HIGH SCHOOL, not JAA or PW.

JAA and PW is about letting everyone have a chance and making kids feel good about themselves.

High School is about learning real life lessons like COMPETITION. You parents must have jobs where everyone earns the same amount of money and if you suck at your job they let you keep it, even if there is someone who can do it better than you. Or better yet...if you're rude to your boss and break all the rules of your workplace they just overlook that and let you keep working there.

See this is exactly what happened with those kids who "quit". One wasn't very good and got beat out. The other couldn't stop from breaking team and school rules. Why does that make the coaches bad people or bad coaches?

Sorry but I have to agree with Seing Eye Coaches. These coaches put multi kids in starting spot that have no clue what they are doing. One of their starters had been in two or three tackle drills before he was starting. That was the kid that had the blown coverage on that easy touchdown WC had. One of the kids told him he needs to cover the flats in the coverage they were in. The only problem was that the kid didn't know what the flats were. This is also the kid that quite the team two or three times, but Frez talked into coming back. But don't worry, he's fast. I got one better than that, in the first game of the season one of our first year tight ends was blocking on a easy touchdown. He bear huged one of the defensive player and throw him on the ground. He jumped up all excited about the great play he made. When he got to the sideline the coaches explained to him that you can't grab players on offensive. I guess something they forgot to teach them. But like Frie's said the most talented LA frosh team in LA history (2-2). I guess what does that say about the coaching. Well got to go, 45 minute drive from work.

LA Insider.

You said;

"Both of these guys have coached at LA for decades and have seen more talent come through that place than most coaches will their entire lives. What makes you think that all of a sudden they have lost their ability to evaluate talent? These are the same guys who helped LA win MULITIPLE CIF titles!"

If these are such excellent coaches, why have they been relegated to the frosh team? Hmmm...

Let's not be naive here.

LA has cut the freshman reserve team program this year, and cut the away game buses down from two to one, so now only half the team travels to away games. Probably not great for the overall team spirit, but in your opinion, who cares if the bottom half of the freshman roster gets neglected, and decides to no-show as sophomores. they suck anyhow, right? As long as we get back the 20 (some both way) starters everything will be fine. I mean we really only need those 30-40 bottom dwelling roster kids for their spirit-pack money anyway, right? Where would LA's program be without that extra $8k-10k a year? Hmmm... Probably non-existent, huh?

LA needs more, and better coaching at the lower level. Any coach who only incorporates hitting drills twice-a-month, and then wonders why his players can't tackle someone's grandma on roller skates, is seriously lacking coaching skills.

These coaches on the frosh team evaluate the kids, they decide which kids have a chance to play varsity ball. They work with those 20 kids and the other 50 kids are on the outside looking in. The coaches aren’t going to waste their time with kids that they don’t feel have a chance to play at the varsity level. That is why you have 50 kids that stand on the sideline all practice, every day with nothing to do that is the LA way. Knowing a little of how the LA program worked in the past I will say this much the recruiting angle is gone, being that the coach that did most of the recruiting is no longer involved with the program. So, what that means is LA is going to have to start developing their talent, with coaches like Fries that isn’t going to happen. LA needs to get coaches at all levels that can develop the talent that they have, they have done a very poor job of that in the past, and it has to chance.

LA INSIDER SO TRUE!,
I admit not at LA but elsewhere my kid played HS football,,, all four years as a backup and never ever a starter. I looked at it as he is not better then the guy in front of him and that how football works. Not because he did not work his a-- off but the talent was better then him plain and simple. This was not any of the coaches fault nor was it any of the kids fault, it was what it was. He got to play and when he did he made the most of it never complaing but always being a team player. When parents can realize the HS game is competition and stop looking at it like the star they once had in JAA or Lil League then they will get it. We never quit or gave up as a player and parent and just accepted our role. Tough as it was we never blamed anyone. Played four years and made the best of it. Thats a real player

LA Haters:

I always love when parents criticize coaches on their decision making and choice of players.

Do you think the coaches WANT to lose? Please tell me what their motivation is to play the BAD players? Do they get paid more? Are the parents of the bad players bribing them? You claim they are "family friends"? Who exactly is a family friend of either of these guys?

Both of these guys have coached at LA for decades and have seen more talent come through that place than most coaches will their entire lives. What makes you think that all of a sudden they have lost their ability to evaluate talent? These are the same guys who helped LA win MULITIPLE CIF titles!

No, I think a more likely explanation is that YOUR KID IS NOT AS GOOD AS THE KID WHO BEAT HIM OUT FOR PLAYING TIME!

Stop being "that parent" who coaches hate. Maybe the reason your kid got beat out is because he has a parent like you who taught him that he DESERVED the position rather than that he had to WORK for it!

One last thought...this aint Pop Warner or JAA anymore. Things change in HS. Get a clue or transfer already. No one feels sorry for you or your kid.

Man you Los Altos Parents sound like the Amat Parents the last two years. No one likes change only if it is for the better, but if it is for the worse people bash it every chance they get. Verti was for the worse and look what happened, now Hagerty so far is for the better and look what has happened (Amat fans are happy) Los Altos parents you have to live with it for now and weather the storm until it is proven that you either made a mistake or that he (your coach)pulls you through. It takes time especially when you hire a young coach (Verti and Aguilar).

I will say this much their is some major issue on the team when it comes to playing the right players in the correct positions. Some of the parents major concern is with the development of their kids. They have around 25 kids involved in practice and the other 35 kids stand around and do none thing all practice. They have around 20 kids that have quit the team already. Their is zero development of the kids, that is what the parents are upset with and why the team is doing so poorly. The coaches need to get all the kids involved and need to start teaching them how to play football. This coaching staff is a joke and LA has lost and will continue to lose players due to their inability to teach these kids how to play football.

Future LA Parent

Coach Fries isn't the problem when talking about getting talent to the field. Godinez is the bottleneck in that department. I don't know what his standards are for judging player's abilities, but it's seriously out of whack.

But, and LA frosh parents listen up, apparently the father of the teams worst qb threw a b**ch fit at some of the coaches, and "higher ups" about his son's lack of playing time, and the coaches caved in, and are going to give the little tyke some game snaps.

"Honestly if freeze is head coach next year. I will be looking into other options."

other options! you sound like your kid is a first round draft choice. you sure know alot about the freshman squad. is your kid that good you are scouting highschools. give me a break your kid is on the team (or was) and your just upset because he or (she) was not starting.

You know who,

Since you are talking out of your a$$, the only coach that coached JAA, left a month ago. If you are going to try and say that freeze is a good head coach you are in the minority at LA. Freeze is a line coach. The skilled position players are good alethics but not the best players, real big difference. It showed at the WC game. Blown coverages on defense. On offense real issues, receivers no tech., backs make to many cuts need to hit the hole, qp tech weak and not mobile. All I and some of your varisty coaches are saying is real poorly coached team. Honestly if freeze is head coach next year I will be looking into other options.

Know one needs to kiss his A$$ for playing time. He plays the kids who are going to give LA a chance to win. Coaches are threatening to leave? Let Godinez and Freeze know so we can send them back to the Junior All American leagues too.

I talked to one of the Varsity coaches at LA they told me that the real issue on the Frosh team is the coaching. Freeze is over his head, he is a line coach, not a head coach. Those two kids that left the Frosh program were both second string, no impact to the program. The team has talent but Freeze has no clue how to develop the talent. The younger coaches on his staff have threatened to leave if Freeze doesn’t make some chances. Actually, two younger coaches quit on Freeze earlier in the season. The comments earlier about Freeze playing kids that kiss his a$$ and friends of the family is nothing new to the LA program and Freeze. Freeze has been known for that for decades, but the coaches at the varsity level didn’t really care in the past. The reality of it is in the past LA didn’t develop talent they recruited talent at the varsity level. Times have changed and Aguilar needs to make changes at the Frosh level or Freeze is going to destroy the program. My son will be a freshman next year, I went to LA as a kid and I have concerns if Freeze will be coaching the freshmen team next year. I don’t want to put my son in a situation that he is going to win or lose his spot off the field.

Rhodes will get rode like the Mustang he is along with all the other ponies in the "Nut". See ya on 10/17, the Dub "C"....Love this game.....

May I make the same suggestion to you! You were the one firing shots first. The point is don't cheap shot the kids!!! They're kids!!!!!

I don't know if Jim A. at Northview is a great coach or not, but I do know he played some form of pro football and was a big time college qb. Does this translate to being a great coach, not necessarily, but most likely, he knows more than you and me combined about what's best for Oscar. You can't make chicken soup out of chicken sh*t. You talk about not talking bad, but you are ripping the coaches who are part of the program and are more attached to this team that we are...got an idea for you, go grab a whistle (3.00 bucks at the store tops)and coach a team.

The best 5' 7" quarterback I ever saw was a guy named Ron Cuccia. He played at L.A. Wilson in the late 70's. In three years, he never lost a game and set the national mark for passing, which has since been broken. He was not a pocket passer. His shotgun was 12 yards deep and even then he would throw on the run. When he was under center, they ran some I and some option, which he rolled out of and bootlegged the opposite way to get outside the pocket. One of the greatest football players I have ever seen. Just some food for thought!

NV supporter,
Well, you did get one thing right. The offense does need to change something in order for it to get the ball moving down the field, but you missed my point completely. Oscar does have talent. However, at about 5'7", Oscar has trouble being a drop back pocket passer. Within the offense they have now, rollouts, sprint outs and bootlegs could easily be put in to the offensive package to accommodate Oscar. Also, in that package, if you have Jones or Farmer on some crossing routes. When they catch the ball, they will be in space, which is perfect for them to make big plays. Remember, they are not big in size either, only in heart. Plus, when you sprint out, put Jones and Farmer on the same side and have them run some combination routes or deep outs and corners. With their quickness, it plays to their strengths. Lastly, once they have success throwing the ball, then the opposing defenses cannot put 8 in the box. This should help the running game.
These kids are playing their hearts out for their school, their coaches and mostly for each other. If you are a true NV supporter, then stop the name calling and be positive. It's not about you, it's about them.

I am not a relative or a close friend. I don't know the kid, but I feel it is unfair what you are saying about him. In high school football, the leader of the team is the coach, and the players do what they are told. The coach is supposed to know more than the kid. The coach is supposed to put the player in a position so that he can be successful. That is not happening. I'm not saying to take it out on the coach either. I'm saying that their should be some perspective here. No, you are not saying that Oscar is a bad kid, you are being more destructive than that. He doesn't get paid, nor is he on scholarship, and the ticket to the game is only 7 dollars, so cheer, don't jeer the kids!

True Northview Football Supporter

Who has the better QB
Northview(ROBLES) or Pomona(RAMOS)?

Walnut player,
You got a lot of spunk, & I'm glad to see Walnut win a few games, you may not want to gauge WC on how they did against Amat cause there is a weee
bit of difference between Amat and what you guy's could do, see you when league starts.

Well Northview Alumni, what do you have on the bench that can lead this team with consistency? True you do need a QB that moves your team up and down the field, but if coach is running the ball that means he has no faith in his QB to throw the ball or his O-LINE to protect the QB long enuf so he does not throw a pick. If this QB does not get it after 3 years then your coach is not coaching and sinking or swimming with this kid. If there is someone better you better make the switch before League starts or you are going down fast.

From one NV Supporter to Another, no one is saying Oscar is a bad kid or doesn't try hard, but that's not enough to be the starting quarterback at Northview. This is a talented team that needs to be led and he just doesn't do it. We're going on 3 years now and unless you have relation to the young man or close friends, your judgement can't be that swayed to actually think he's doing a good job...tell me you watch the game and besides a 4th quarter touchdown pass when the game was already out of reach, what other form of consistancy has he shown all year or last...as the last alum said, unless Coach A is a gynocologist there's no helping this p....

Also Tillis got beat out in JAA, jump ship there and went to play JAA elsewhere. He does ride the pine at Hampton College, wonder how long it will be before he decides to bolt from there. He is what you call a Musical Chairs Quarterback with no talent ever to start. In love with the glorified part of the position but cannot play worth a lick.

I think he's implying that Tillis got beat out at Damien and left for Amat - where he got beat out and left for Los Altos - only to be beat out again.

LA Insider

Not to get off track, but Blake Tillis? You can't be implying that he got beat out by a better QB, as in Junior Tamayo? JR. was so bad...

See, I'm at a loss for words, that kid was so bad. Inconceivable, is how I would dexcribe JR's lack of talent last year.

Back to freshman. The team does have some talent, but the coaching staff is doing nothing to develop it this season. Aguilar, and Burke (if he's still around) are gonna wonder why next years talent wasn't getting PT this year. I'd like to see Fries', and Godinez's faces when they try to explain that.

LA Insider, are the parents of any/either of these players 'involved' in the nonsense?

WHAT HAPPENED....FAT AMAT GRADS WITH RAIDER TSHIRTS HAPPENED

Seeing Eye Coaches:

Good Riddance! Both were upset that the coaches were benching them.

The QB got beat out fair and square by a kid who was better than him.

The RB has been getting suspended from the team and school for getting into trouble.

Kids today amaze me. If they get beat out for a spot then it's the coaches' fault. If they get suspended for violating team rules then it's the coaches fault.

You think these kids are EVER gonna succeed at the Varsity level? Case in point: Blake Tillis!

Like I said...GOOD RIDDANCE! LA may not win a game this year, but at least we don't have to deal with egos and assholes all day long! Our kids have class and work their asses off! (we're just not very darn talented this year)

"Charter Oak 42, Damien 21 -- Hmm, should we start rethinking No. 1? After all, they're undefeated. Impressive Chargers, very impressive."

In my opinion, for Charter Oak to earn a number 1 ranking over Bishop Amat, the Chargers would have had to dominate Damien in a fashion that exceeded Amat's performance against the same team.

Judging from both games, the Charter Oak/Damien match was a close one until the 3rd quarter w/ Charter Oak only managing a 1 touchdown lead until a series of game altering interceptions.

In comparison, the Amat/Damien game was a mismatch and was over before halftime. Although Damien outgained Amat in total yards, Amat's defense was on the field more often due to Amat's quick offensive strikes that occurred.

I normally do not care about anything about local polls. But if you are going to include Amat in your poll, please give them the respect when they have earned it.

Charter Oak #1? Sure, after Amat's next loss. Until then, nooooooo way.

Walnut football will be in the CIF count on it. Those who belive Rowland and WC are a shoe in and look the other way on Walnut are going to get a big surprise. We respect Bogan and SH but West Covina and Rowland we are on par with and we will settle it on the field. This is the Year Walnut goes CIF. Do not count us out just yet we have a good mix of talent and coaches.

LA Frosh update...

If anyone cares two more players have left the LA Frosh team. A starting RB, and a backup QB. They are still attending school at LA, but have quit the team.

SHHS WILL WIN........YEA SOUTH HLLS WILL BE TESTED FROM ROSEMEAD JUST LIKE HART DID...SHHS 56--ROSEMEAD-MAYBE 14..RUSHING YARDS UNDER 50 FOR BIG MOUTH TRE...GOOD LUCK SHHS..DO YOUR TALKING IN THE FIELD.........ROSEMEAD WHO HAVE THEY PLAYED ANYWAY...3 WINS OVER STRUGGLING TEAMS, YEA THAT MAKES THEM A REAL TEST/THEAT FOR SOUTH HILL FOOTBALL.GIVE ME A BREAK..

Walnut.. Get ready for fourth place. Between south hills, rowland, and west covina it will be a long october and november for you. But good luck. Let your pads do the talking. Talking sh** hasn't won a game yet. Just letting you know the top 3 teams in your league aint no push overs and unlike you they have all played someone. El monte has a tougher non-league schedule then you guys do. Good luck though.

Joe Amat I think you just might have created Bishop Amat's new recruiting slogan:

"WHAT HAPPENED....AMAT HAPPENED!!!!"

CLASSIC!

sending minors across the border with beer drinking dads, and pedophile priests into one of the most dangerous drug cartel ruled cities in the northern hemisphere is just plain stupid. no thanks! i'll stick with public education thanks but no thanks the final tally on those institutional pedophile cases hit a billion dollars just in the state of california. that's 1 billion witha B what are the odds that pedophile priests exist in mexico? again no thanks. hey nechwarmer maybe you can support the retired nuns in santa barbara who just got kicked out to pay mahoney's bills. Jesse Illi and Ricky Johnson? and your big o-line. What happened that nite over at Bishop Amat? Your team is Normal and Walnut will expose that some more as well. Walnut is peaking at the right time and come that first league game in Mustang Land WC will find out who this 4-1 team is. Second place is ours this year. I will give my props to SH but never to WC. WC is way overated. Your coming to the NUT to get your a--es handed to you.

Northview football

Robles, Jones and Farmer are talented players, but they do have difficulties on offense. In part, because they have had three different offensive coordinators in three years. Also, three different offensive lines in three years. In professional football, players are given years to develop as individuals and as cohesive groups, and those are professionals. In high school, you have weeks, and these are just high school buddies that like hanging out with their friends to play a game. Just like last year and the year before, the offensive line is inexperienced and needs time to develop. They have only one starter back from last year on the offensive line. So, whoever called Oscar that name and said he should be replaced obviously knows nothing about him or football. Yes, he does have trouble getting the ball knocked down on short passes. So, maybe they should roll him out more because he has a great arm. He has worked extra on his other skills. Like I said, he throws a great ball, with time in the pocket, he can run and he can take the punishment of being hit in the back when he stands in the pocket that extra second. Anyone who has played football knows how difficult that is and would never say that Oscar is a coward. He took a pounding as a sophomore, and part of his junior year. On friday, he again stood tall in the pocket. After being pulled by the coach, he kept his head in the game, came back later to make a big play in the 4th quarter. Again, he held the ball long enough for his receiver to get open, delivered the ball on the money and took another shot in the back as he delivered the touchdown pass. So, he has mental toughness and maturity as well. I don't know who you are but that doesn't sound like a coward to me. Maybe you should look in the mirror! These are just high school kids, don't pick on them. This is just one part of their high school experience. Don't hide in this blog and rip that apart for them. That is cowardice!

Do the right thing,

I dont believe that youre writing at 6:56 am with passion in your fingers and dont have a kid involved in the program at damien. Alot of readers on the blog can read right thru the lines on this one. Your point of change is correct however but the admin at damien has been around so long that they really dont care what parents or people think they are going to do things the way they see fit. You dont have to send your kid there. You can choose to not be a part of the nonsense. Its like people that complain about howard stern. Then just dont listen! And believe me these problems at the school are not just confined to football. People, use your heads.

mrman1,

I'm still unclear about the point you tried to prove last year. I believe you said that the school can't win, but we did.

What point was proven?
That the school football team managed to win despite your blatant biases against the school administration and AD?
That the school football program won despite the hexes you put on the team?

It still doesn't make sense to me that you continue to put down the school's football program based on your own negative experiences.

By the way you talk, you seem to have confidence that you can do a better job coaching, right?

Perhaps, you coaching the game online or coaching a video game may be more suitable.......

GO WARRIORS!!!

Damien football has the worst coaching staff in the valley. There offense is the most predictable I have ever seen. They call the worst time outs I have ever seen. And why is their best QB sitting on the side lines. I will answer that for you. So the coach can have a two year starter. How about trying to win now coach. This is a fine example of why they are terrible. They are a school that year in and year out have good athletes but in the end the coaching is the tell tale sign of success. I feel sorry for these kids. Last year should have been the best O-line Damien has had in years but once again the line coach showed us how bad he is. On the Def. side of the ball not much better. I have seen this for a long time at Damien. I have never seen a bunch of lost LB's in my life when it comes to a passing game. It's time for DHS to get a new staff. And i mean clean house. I know they will not pay much. So it will be tough to find a good staff but I hope for the sake of the kids they do. This is a shame. I think it's time for the coaching staff to do the right think and step down at the end of this year. I don't even has a kid that attends this school.

Damien football has the worst coaching staff in the valley. There offense is the most predictable I have ever seen. They call the worst time outs I have ever seen. And why is their best QB sitting on the side lines. I will answer that for you. So the coach can have a two year starter. How about trying to win now coach. To LP_Alum: I did let it go, but I just wanted to prove a point about last year. Well I hope you guys enjoyed that 2007 league title, because I see another 10 years before you get another one. Hernandez will be gone by the end of next year because he will wake up and smell the coffee. The administration and especially the AD are a joke. I don't blame any coach for leaving there to head to greener and better pastures.

There still is alot of baseball going on for high school in the fall will you be giving any info on this.

democrat logo= jackass

You're a funny guy. who has walnut played. DIAMOND BAR LOSS. Noone forgets. Wait til' you guys get to see the big boys in your league. have you seen West-Cos O-line. WOW. With Jesse Ili and R. Johnson. Not to mention the D-line of South hills and Rowland. When you guys get to league you won't physically match up. Arroyo got killed by northview. A team that both south hills and rowland beat. Im almost positive you wouldnt beat northview. Keep playing a weak non-league schedule and keep getting thrashed. Better Luck Next year walnut cause like an old co-league of mine would say " I guess this year just aint your year"

cant we all just get along?

funny how the host will leave pro-liberal statements and anti-McCain statements, but deletes those of the other side....just another sign of bias

Northview '89 Alum,
You said that Jones, Farmer, and Robles put the coach on the map? What map we talking about? The same one that South El Monte, BP, and Temple City are on? I've seen this team play since coach has been there and it's got to be hell calling plays for Robles. He's brutal and a p....! Unless Coach A is a gynocologist, I don't know if he can fix this pu... This offense can not drive more than 50 yards on a drive and it seems the only touchdown passes come from their running backs and receivers on trick plays. I like the jv kid getting a shot...what has oscar the p.... done to keep his job or get any ink?

Walnut? Who's that, where is that. If this was tennis, I'd say you are right on. All Walnut, if at best, 4th or 5th place finisher. Stick to wiffle ball son.

602,603,605 .............man those guys are fat lineman? never seen or heard of that before.

WAR PANTHER, MORE LIKE ROSEMUD WAR PUSSY(CAT), JJIMENEZ... AND YOU KNOW WHAT MUD SPELLED BACKWARDS.

Bulldogshi-,
After we beat down Sonora this Friday, your sorry a--es are ours come the opener, yes you are coming to our field and we have a surprise for you. This is not the same Walnut team that you have been facing in the past. SH is good we all know that but second place is not yours automatically we will have a say in it this year. Walnut 28 WC 14

South Hills fans talk ...

Rosemead fans talk ...

TM

I'M BAAAACK!!!!

LET THE HATERS HATE! ITS WHAT THEY DO BEST!

FEAR THE MEAD!!! WAR PANTHERS!!!

WOW a Walnut Fan .where did u come from . Have you taken you MEDS this morning. You went to the Covina and Arroyo games is that all you have. What great expectations you have "I think we can take second in the San Antonio Leage" No Balls to say you can Beat an overrated South Hills team. Bringing it on. LOL Wait I can't stop laughing You went to the Covina and Arroyo Games and You Think Walnut is Good LOL . Have those two teams even won a game yet? Like I said Bring it On! GO BULLDOGS

John Mccain is going to lose in a landslide ...and he knows that ..thats why he has that "Female Dog" doing his dirty work for him...We all remember when John Mccain said that Rev Wright Bs was off limits right??? Well look whats happening now? Palin will be a BIG reason Mccain is going to lose...She runs her mouth about issues she knows absolutely nothing about!

john mccain

John Mccain will be worst than George Bush and we all know the state of our country is in now because of the BUSH PLAN.

Screw old man Mccain

barack obama will make a terrible president. i approve this message

SHHS, no killer instict? No, just flat when they start off. For a team with an offense with 6 returning starters, I could say they are big and physical. I would venture to say their OL is one of the biggest in the SGV. All averaging 602-603 and 260 lbs, thats just averaging, three of those OL guys are 605, between 260 and 295 lbs. Once that offesne gets started, I don't see Rosemead stopping them. Yes, Rosemead has a pretty good program, but I don't think they compare to some of the power houses in the east end, like CO and Amat. That's not including Los Altos and WC, all big teams.

Rosemead 45

West Covina will lose to Walnut. I was at both the Covina ans Arroyo game and they have a very good team this year. These Mustangs are coming to get you. Second place finish in the San Antonio is theirs this year.

when SHHS plays a tough team they seem to backoff and have no killer instinct. Rosemead will test them the way La Habra did. I can see SHHS winning a close game but on the road does not help them. This one could either way. I like SHHS In a toss up game. 24-21

West Covina will lose to south hills yet again
and I approve this message

South Hills groupies remember 2001! Rosemead is a good team just keep talking your trash we could use as motivation this Friday!

4 more days to "SMUDGEPOT"

GO SAINTS!!

Great for the SGV..Amat gets a Televised game vs Diamond Ranch.fox sports. Lancers big in this one. 38-14.

Time to go to the Back up QB Northview, I am not impressed with your no.1 QB. HE LOOKS LAZY

COME ON VIKINGS: I have to agree with you. The offense line is not bad. they can only hold the line for so long. Robles has to get rid of that ball faster. and i agree nv needs to throw the ball more.

LA PARENT

WHERE ARE YOU? DID YOU FALL IN A HOLE? WHERE'S THAT RECORD TO SPEAK OF.

DIDNT EVERYBODY TRY TO TELL YOU 1-9 or 2-8.

WHERES ALL THE TALK NOW?

LOL

vk alum -- are you kidding me, Robles has been NOTHING but a disappointment, he can not get it going. i think either he is not as good as the ink he has been gettingBECAUSE WE ALL KNOW -- THE OFFENSE HAS NOT DONE ANYTHING SPECTACULAR IN 3 GAMES NOW!!!! or robles is believeing too much of the ink and too full of himself. either way - he better get it going or just like last year -- HE WILL DISAPPOINT.

INSIDER

Dont worry Insider, this RB isn't that good at all.

Just look at the teams they played and won. Not one of them ranked under 600. When they played a ranked team, they got CRUSHED.

We'll crush them too!

Fred- lets me be totally honest- i was at the LA-WC game on friday-the score was totally decieving-the game was very one sided- LA was dominated the whole game-the score should have been a lot worse- LA has major offensive problems- ONE FIRST DOWN THE WHOLE GAME-the only so called offense is the running of Mario Carrillo- very poor playcalling- LA has major problems-they will only win one game this year- VS. WILSON- they are winless for a good reason!

BIG DEAL..ROSEMEADS OVER TEMPLE, THE WIN IS OVER RATED.ANSD TRI IS OVER RATED HE IS NOTHING BUT A BIG WHINER, AND A SHOWOFF ONLY PLAYS WELL WITH WEAK TEAMS. AND BACKS OFF WITH GOOD TEAMS..JUST WATCH THE SOUT HILLS GAME, YOU KNOW WHAT AM TALKING ABOUT..OR MAYBE HE WILL FIND SOME EXCUSE NOT TO PLAY..JUST LIKE IN THE HART GAME.....COACHES STOP TREATING HIM LIKE NFL STAR..HAHAHAH.

This a prime example of a above average HS football player that will not get to the next level, aka College. Tra will be remembered as one heck of a HS player in his day but will end up in a JUNCO. Sad but true. This kid needs to get it done in the classroom as well. As of right now he is a star at the HS level but still has that HOODRAT mentality which will get him nowhere real fast. As a parent I would be ashamed to see my kid speak like that while interviewed.

Act Like A Student Athlete

The most important thing, he needs to get into and English and Speech class.

Regarding the Rosemead Temple City video with Miquel. great Job great questions sorry tre had to act like a cocky little clown
Tre, Son you are not in the NFL which means you don't have to act a fool in front of a camera when doing a interview. Just do the interview act like you represent your school with class. If you want to do some stupid little shout out go get a you tube page and a camera and act like a doofuss all you want to. But son you represent Rosemead HIGH SCOOL. Your in HIGH SCHOOL act like a student athlete and not some idiot clowning for the camera.

mrman1,

We're all alive and well.

As I can recall, you didn't do too much talking at all last year.

Wait, don't live in the past, right? I'm sure that is the first comment that crossed your mind.

Regardless, I think you'll be better off if you just let us be.

Just as I had recommended to you last year, let it go!

I'm sure you feel a hell of a lot better by putting down someone or something, like the school. Junior high school is over. It's okay to move on.........

In the meantime, keep on fighting Warriors!!!

To LA COMPLAINERS,

"The Play calling sucks..."

Out of curiosity, what EXACTLY sucks about the play calling?

FYI; I've attended most of the games and the play calling seems appropriate for team that has no GENUINE QB.

Hey fred went to the sh nv game and it was great. Sh has great playmakers.but one thing i have to say is that nv needs a new offense!!! stop tring to run the ball coach. Stop being a little girl and trust your strongest part of your team the wrs and the qb. If you noticed when we scored or moved the ball it was robles throwing to farmer or jones. come on and that was embarrasing when you took out those 2 amazing playmakers and tried to run some wing t bull crap. And to top it off you take your starting qb out for some dumb reason and portrayed to the crowd that you were throwing in the towl. Those 3 kids did nothing for u to take them out like that. If you would think for a minute when robles threw or when you let him throw to prob the best 2 recivers in the valley we MOVED the ball and scored. Has some faith in your kids and let them play the game by throwing thats the only way your gunna get anywhere. Trust coach everyone in the stands are not blaming the kids for not scoring, they are always blaming the stupid play calls you make. Run run run we cant run the ball darn it. change to that dang covina offense and i bet you would win a cif championship ring. Remeber Jones, Farmer and Robles put this program and you on the map. with out those young kids you would be NO WHERE. and i think i speak for all the old alumni. i graduated class of 1989 and i would love to see my Alumni bring it back. Just trust your kids and throw the hell out of that ball!!!! Tell him fred

The only reason Amat gets alot of hits because its the same 5 amat bloggers responding to some idiotic comments. someone says they suck, they give paragraphs of how they dont. it just goes on.

thats the way uh huh i like it.

kc and the sunshine band

I think being without a doubt and being objective that Bonita has the hottest team around. I wish Giovanni Meyer was playing this year because he looked so hot in a uniform, but we still look great.
Sincerely,
Henry Guerrero

Really BAD the past few days .

MODERATOR ....???

TM

you got that right chuck!

Kurmugin-Los Altos and South Hills have over 2000 students. Amat has under 1500

Tom Carroll should have been out of the dugout and off the sidelines around the time Dick Larson left. Whats the point hanging on? But I still dont see how all this can be blamed on him. His son is the coordinator on the defense which has given up huge chunks of yardage and that kid that got hurt should have known where that cart was
