CIF announces basketball changes
The new CIF-Southern Section boys and girls basketball playoff divisions were released on Monday. There are many changes, so go through it and tell us what you think. L.A. Times chief Eric Sondheimer gives his take in today's story.

You're right-divisions have nothing to do with leagues.

You've got a pretty good idea. No, not the 20 foot baskets - the adjustable divisions. That's exactly what they are doing.
The new plan starts each school in their appropriate state enrollment level. then they move Up or DOWN based on the number of playoff wins that their school has over the past four years. As soon as one season ends - the season 4 years ago drops off and the new one takes it's place.
On the plan teams can move up a maximum of 1 division and a half - or could move down as well if they have no playoff wins.

Makes about as much sense as 20-foot high baskets to stifle tall players. Teams change annually. Power shifts along with talent. Set up playoffs each year based on the results of won-lost record of each team. Should be easy to seed with computers to rate potential performance.
