Football: Tribune Super 33 Poll

1. Charter Oak (7-0-1) -- Lou Pa's Chargers reclaim the top spot, and not just because of Bishop Amat's dismal offensive showing against Loyola. The Chargers' lone tie against Rancho Cucamonga looks mighty good after Rancho defeated Los Osos on Friday, the same team Amat lost to. Also, you can argue the Chargers beat Diamond Ranch more convincing than the Lancers. Case closed.

2. Bishop Amat (6-2) -- We weren't as tough as the L.A. Times, who dropped the Lancers from their Top 25 poll. It's been a great season, no question about it, but how disappointing will it be if they finish 0-3 in the Serra. This week's game against Crespi is as do-or-die as it gets, because they're not beating unbeaten Notre Dame on the road the next week.

3. San Dimas (8-0) -- Considering they didn't have Nico the Linebacker in Friday's 56-46 victory over Baldwin Park, we're not dropping the Saints after their defenseless effort against the Braves. They're still the top dog in the Mid-Valley, and something tells me they're going to prove it on Thursday against surging Northview.

4. South Hills (7-1) -- The loss of defensive stalwarts Wayne Goss and Chris Bowden (to injuries) is difficult to replace, regardless of how much depth the Huskies have. Coach Steve Bogan says they can absorb it, but history tell us otherwise. The Huskies meet Rowland to clinch a share of the San Antonio on Friday, then finish with West Covina and the playoffs to follow. Obviously, these injuries are happening at the wrong time.

5. Rowland (7-1) -- The Raiders proved they belonged by knocking off West Covina; their lone loss came against once-beaten California; and they're tough defensively, allowing an average of just 11 points. Is this enough to topple South Hills? Yes, but don't expect the Huskies to be caught off guard like the Bulldogs.

6. Rosemead (6-2) -- The Panthers are rolling through the Mission Valley League, but still can't crack the top five of the Mid-Valley Division polls. I don't know what else they can do. In all their wins they've scored 40 or more points, and their only losses have come against South Hills and Harvard-Westlake.

7. West Covina (6-2) -- The Bulldogs are South Hills' biggest fans this week, hoping Bogan's Huskies knock off Rowland, which would give the Bulldogs a chance to play South Hills next week for a three-way tie in the San Antonio. Of course, West Covina needs to beat Nogales this week for that to happen. And of course, we know they will.

8. Glendora (5-3) -- The Tartans shouldn't fall too far after a close loss to undefeated Chino Hills. A victory over Chino this week pretty much locks a playoff spot, and keeps them in the hunt for a Sierra League title. If Ayala knocks off Chino HIlls this week, the Tartans would play Ayala in the finale for a chance to finish in a three-way tie.

9. Bonita (6-2) -- Charter Oak may be the favorite to win the Miramonte, but the Bearcats are in the drivers seat, already 3-0 with a nonleague game against Walnut this week. Bonita will host the Chargers in the league finale, and the way they're playing of late, they've got a real good shot.

10. Northview (6-2) -- They've finally got some offense to go with that great defense. After struggling early in the season to score points, the Vikings have found their groove and can shake up the Mid-Valley Division with a win over San Dimas in Thursday's Valle Vista League title game.

Rounding out the top 33: 11. Azusa (7-1), 12. Walnut (5-3), 13. Diamond Bar (4-4), 14. Diamond Ranch (2-6), 15. Arroyo (3-5), 16. Pomona (5-3), 17. South El Monte (4-4), 18. Damien (1-7), 19. Duarte (3-5), 20. El Monte (3-4), 21. Workman (5-3), 22. Baldwin Park (3-5), 23. Covina (2-6), 24. Western Christian (5-3), 25. Los Altos (0-8), 26. Sierra Vista (3-6), 27. Mountain View (2-6), 28. Wilson (0-8), 29. Ganesha (2-6), 30. Nogales (1-7), 31. Gladstone (1-7), 32. La Puente (1-7), 33. Bassett (1-7).

The pure fact that anyone evencontemplates if Azusa could beat Damien regrdless of how well Azusa is doing really puts the stamp on how bad the Spartan program has become. How has it come to this?

Saints still have a record of 8-1.... GO SAINTS!!!!!

GO AZUSA GO !

Enjoy your run ...
But get ready , come playoff time , you'll see some locals that are MUCH toughter than your league opponents. RHS will be looking to earn some

R E S P E C T !

Yeaahhh i'm for REAL!

I love the game of FOOTBALL JUST LIKE THE NEXT GUY! EVEN IF, IT' IS HIGH SCHOOL BALL! FOOTBALL, IS FOOTBALL...

I didn't want to exaggerate on the numbers! But there's been more than 100 fans at Citrus College! BELIEVE THAT!

Our homecomming game at Citrus was almost sold out!

Come on, were small city!

BIG DAY TOMORROW FOR AZUSA!

AZTEC PRIDE!

Are you guys for real with this stuff? Who really watches Azusa football? Hundreds you said...lol! That's good stuff. I've seen more at a pop warner game. Hey, whatever, you guys are winning and that's all that matters so much love to you Aztecs, good luck.

"Tell that to all those AZUSA FANS, watching the games at CITRUS COLLEGE,if it matters ??? There's been over a hundred of fans watching these games"

100 fans or more?....that's funny but it is a start. Come to an Amat game and you'll appreciate what 5000 die hard fans are really like.

They better be ready.. Stancell is over rated and the huskies are ready. That was a fluke against west co. They were flat. Tomorrow you all will see. Stancell needs to be quiet and play...

AZTEC PRIDE, Aram feed these morons for years. Gave all the attention to "big" schools and never really made this blog about sports or kids or anything positive. Just bickering and flaming each other out. Some people have nothing better to do than think they are superior to evryone or tell bloggers what does and doesn't cut the mustard.....JUST LIKE IN HIGH SCHOOL.

Sign of the times my friend, sign of the times.

Great to see you guys have your success. Enjoy it and just like high school...how cares what people think. Especially when these morons always think the world REVOLVES AROUND THEM- again JUST LIKE IN HIGH SCHOOL!

Aztec PRIDE!!! Best of luck

SHUT YER TRAP!

A YOU LITTLE MORON!, Why don't you mind your own little business. I don't appreciate when people come in HARDCORING, THINKING THEIR SOMETHING AND RUNNING THEIR MOUTH. TWO CAN PLAY THAT! I got the same keyboard buttons just like you there(PAL)!

If WOULD you have noticed, There is a question directed to me, by my fan, SGV FOOTBALL FOLLOWER, who keeps busting my B*LLS!

Excuse me, I didn't know this BLOGGING BOARD was reserved only for the top teams you mentioned!LOL... BY THE WAY ALSO, WHO is the majorty your talking about?(YOU)LIKE YOUR OPINION REALLY MATTERS TO ME!

Tell that to all those AZUSA FANS, watching the games at CITRUS COLLEGE,if it matters ??? There's been over a hundred of fans watching these games.

AZUSA is on the verge of doing something, it hasn't done in awhile. So if like don't like my self promoting (DIATRIBES),(5 cent word) don't FN read it!

THIS OUR MOMENT AND YEAR!

AZTEC PRIDE!

The real reason why no one gives a flying hoot about AZUSA is because they are a fly by night. Here today gone tomorrow. Cannot hold a light to the SH's, CO's, LA's and Amat's and even BP (who were great in the late 70's and 80's).

I think the majority of the bloggers really don't care if Azusa wins or loses except for AZUSA PRIDE because we've got "bigger fish to fry" . Even Azusa Past doesn't think much of his old school. The only Azusa fan and blogger is Pride, and frankly, I'm getting tired his self promoting diatribes.

Beat a worthy opponent on a consistent basis and then you have the right to come here and brag.

Aztec Pride,
It's not about having faith or being weak in believing the Aztecs will win. It's fact, they wouldn't beat the big boys. Although I would like to see Azusa do well and win league, I haven't really followed them with any faith. My kids attend a different school, which is a bigger school. I'm not sure when they last won league. Good luck.

OKAY ,BACK TO FOOTBALL!

RHS RHS RHS .

Any questions ?

Growing up in the 70's until now we all have seen the same changes more or less .

I grew up a ULTRA consevative & for the MOST part still am VERY conservative .

I will not say to much , I'll let Ronnie do it for me . This is part of his final speech , one I will never forget.

"Well, back in 1980, when I was running for president, it was all so different. Some pundits said our programs would result in catastrophe. Our views on foreign affairs would cause war. Our plans for the economy would cause inflation to soar and bring about economic collapse. I even remember one highly respected economist saying, back in 1982, that "the engines of economic growth have shut down here, and they're likely to stay that way for years to come." Well, he and the other opinion leaders were wrong. The fact is, what they called "radical" was really "right." What they called "dangerous" was just "desperately needed."

And in all of that time I won a nickname, "The Great Communicator." But I never thought it was my style or the words I used that made a difference: It was the content. I wasn't a great communicator, but I communicated great things, and they didn't spring full bloom from my brow, they came from the heart of a great nation--from our experience, our wisdom, and our belief in principles that have guided us for two centuries. They called it the Reagan revolution. Well, I'll accept that, but for me it always seemed more like the great rediscovery, a rediscovery of our values and our common sense.

Common sense told us that when you put a big tax on something, the people will produce less of it. So, we cut the people's tax rates, and the people produced more than ever before. The economy bloomed like a plant that had been cut back and could now grow quicker and stronger. Our economic program brought about the longest peacetime expansion in our history: real family income up, the poverty rate down, entrepreneurship booming, and an explosion in research and new technology. We're exporting more than ever because American industry became more competitive and at the same time, we summoned the national will to knock down protectionist walls abroad instead of erecting them at home. Common sense also told us that to preserve the peace, we'd have to become strong again after years of weakness and confusion. So, we rebuilt our defenses, and this New Year we toasted the new peacefulness around the globe. Not only have the superpowers actually begun to reduce their stockpiles of nuclear weapons--and hope for even more progress is bright--but the regional conflicts that rack the globe are also beginning to cease. The Persian Gulf is no longer a war zone. The Soviets are leaving Afghanistan. The Vietnamese are preparing to pull out of Cambodia, and an American-mediated accord will soon send 50,000 Cuban troops home from Angola.

The lesson of all this was, of course, that because we're a great nation, our challenges seem complex. It will always be this way. But as long as we remember our first principles and believe in ourselves, the future will always be ours. And something else we learned: Once you begin a great movement, there's no telling where it will end. We meant to change a nation, and instead, we changed a world".

A change is coming people...

Whether WE like it or not!

I hope everyone VOTED!

AZTEC PAST!!!

I can't believe what i'm reading!!! WHERE'S YOUR FAITH MY BROTHER??? DON'T EVER REVEAL YOUR WEAK- KNEED TO YOUR FELLOW BLOGGERS... (IN FOOTBALL), YOUR ALWAYS THE TOP DOG UNTIL YOU LOSE.( AHAHAHAH)!

You mentioned that AZUSA COULDN'T WIN ANY OF THOSE TEAMS? Well will just have to always ponder that wont we, and believe me, I won't lose any sleep over it.

Hey remember this! AZUSA, wasn't even projected to win the LEAGUE, per Cal Preps, and this Friday, can be the DAY we take the FN LEAGUE!!!

AZTEC PAST, can you tell me,when was the last time AZUSA has won the league?

What would happen, if AZUSA and gladstone would merge??? YEAH, WE WOULD BE JUST AS GOOD AS THOSE TEAMS YOU POSTED!!!

Come on (PAST),DON'T START GETTING WEAK ON ME NOW! I'll tell you what, i'll request to have the AZTEC DANCERS for you, when AZUSA playing in the play-offs!(WE CAN'T LOSE)!LOL...

P.S.

Like JIM HILL states, "KEEP THE FAITH".

SGV (FOLLOWER).

How can you say that AZUSA can't win any of those teams you mentioned? That's your point of view, and will just never know won't we? There's two games left in the season, and are biggest goal right now is to win the League! So your assumptions are about as worhtless as your moniker.

As far as ranking go, come on, they changed weekly! THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT CARE ABOUT THAT ARE, AMAT AND CO BLOGGERS.

I've been following AZUSA Football and Baseball for the last four years, and there freshmen and Jv teams have been winning the league the last couple of years.Yes,it all starts from the underclassmen, and works it's way up.

So this years Football and Baseball teams are no fly by nght teams, or a having a cinderella season,"OR WHO HAVE THEY'VE PLAYED".

I knew they would be contending for the league championships, just like they won LEAGUE in BASEBALL, and by the way went to the second round of the CIF play-offfs and almost beat St. PAUL.

Did you read my post regarding Coach Beltran? all I said was, that he was a great coach, and never stated it all starts with the freshmen coach turning a program around? Don't make things up!

Well i'm sure you'll be the first person on this board, telling me I told you so, (IF WE LOSE)!!!

AZTEC PRIDE TO THE END OF THE RUN! ALL GOOD THINGS MUST COME TO A END!

AZTEC PRIDE

I was impressed (like I stated in my other post) with Azusa when they played Duarte (I was there and watched the game). I gave you guys some love. But you have answered my question about how you think they will do in the playoffs and I quote
"Hopefully we can get to the second round of the play-offs and keep this run going" So deep down, you do not feel they can win a first round game? I was impressed and think if they played good they will be alright in the playoffs. How far can they go do you think?

As for Saturday Freshmen games those are usually reserve games where the back ups get to play so they get game experience if Azusa had their starters playing against CO 2nd 3rd and 4th string then you realize that game meant nothing even if they were playing backups that game is like a practice.

Azusa is ranked higher in the valley then they should be, because they have a good record (and like I said they are playing well but not to the big boy standards yet) but again the combined record of the teams they beat this year is 12 wins vs 45 losses, not a very tough schedule. They could not beat Walnut, Diamond Ranch, Diamond Bar or even 0 and 8 Los Alots.

You also stated that this team has been playing good for 4 years together and you are giving all the credit to a Freshman Coach. Don't you think it was the previous Head coach that started these boys on the right track and molded their work ethic and drive to get where it is? He was there with your boys in his first years and turned around a struggling program to make the playoffs? Now they have a chance to win league. Maybe he was not the right guy and the new head coach is better but I do not think a Freshman coach for any school is the reason a program turns around. Freshmen coaches are what they are freshmen coaches and they are that for a reason because most are just learning football or are on their way out of coaching football and want less responsibility. I have never heard of a Freshmen head coach turning around a program.

Two questions.

Any thoughts of a diffrent outcome if Diamond Ranch plays Charter Oak before playing Bishop Amat? I think of Damien's and DR's performances against CO and BA and wonder who had the biggest affect of those teams. Clearly playing against BA changes teams. In my pinion.

The second question really goes to Santa Margarita. What would Charter Oak do against SM? How about Loyola? Notre Dame?

I don't have the correct answer. No one does. But clearly it is a question with an answer. And it's one everyone can agree should play a role in the Top Ten list.

Last year I thought Bonita should "enjoy" the Top Spot because they were undefeated at the time much like San dimas today. The next game they lost big if I remember correctly. Maybe San Dimas should be No. 1 seeing as it doesn't matter whop would beat who but who sells the most papers. Making San Dimas teh No.1 team would surely do that. But then everyone would bag on San Dimas without mercy. So san Dimas be glad Fred hasn't cursed you with that distinction.

Go win a Championship and enjoy the run. Glad to hear Kyle Withem is soon going to be laying wood on people. Best of luck to all teams, even Rosemead.

Aztec Pride,
Ok, I'm an alum of the Aztecs. The last time Azusa played CO @ the varsity level, I was there! Of course they had one of their strongest teams ever with the merge of Royal Oak and CO. I've read all your blast for A-Town and their good season. Hope they continue, but Know this. Azusa could not hang with any miramonte teams, except Wilson right now. Your Aztecs are handling their business in the right league, but slow down on the idea of taking on the big boys. That includes all the top 10, as they would bring you back to reality. Have the warrior beat the big "A" drum, but slow your roll. Good luck.

I agree with SD Mom in wishing both teams GOOD HEALTH.

But for the WIN....GO VIKINGS....The Darkside is coming!!

SAT Game...

You weren't there! I'm not going to come on this board and say sometning that's not true!Your going to tell me those were freshmen reserves? GET OUT HERE...

Let me see if you could answer this question Mr (CLARIFY). Couple years ago your team played at Citrus College, against El Dorado.

Tell me the score on that game. Yes, I was there too.

AZTECS PRIDE!

Saints vs Vikings thursday night... I wish both the teams good health... but for the score GO SAINTS....

To clarify Aztec Pride statement of Azusa Frosh team playing CO 4 years ago he is correct they did play and it was a 7-7 tie. The game was played on Sat against CO's Frosh reserve team....

JUST FOR SHI.S AND GIGGLES HOW MANY PLAYERS FROM AMAT LIVE IN CHINO, CHINO HILLS, DIAMOND BAR, PHILLIPS RANCH.....MAYBE HALF?....

Amat will be haunted forever by their glory days. Old fashion fans and old fashion football. Two way skill players do exist and it won't break up chemistry. You don't have to use them all the time. HS Teams do watch film and it could be a perfect time to add a little surprize not a scramble. All or nothing to get to the playoffs. The Raiders and Amat have the same story.

i don't think azusa should be ranked so high. i don't believe that they can beat D Ranch, or Walnut. or maybe even damien. these ranking are being based on record, not strength.

azusa one and done in the playoffs like every year. werd up

Your so right Jcaz! Two games left for league play! It's been great time watching high school football. This season has been great for AZUSA!

I've met some great people in the stands and made good friends over the years!

Hopefully we can get to the second round of the play-offs and keep this run going!

AZTEC PRIDE!

Just tribbin a little early here.

Wow, it's already Tuesday. That means only a few more days for some more high school football.

It's hard to believe that the season is almost over with is'nt it ?

Just a few more weeks to go for most, and maybe if we are lucky, a couple of more weeks for some others.

As for this Thursday night, I think i'll go to the Northview-San Dimas game because, it's closer to me than the rest of the games, and also because it seems to be the most intersting Thursaday night game, out of all of the others, to watch this week.

As I said earlier, I am a big time football junkie.
And this year, because of the way the schedule has played out for the Lancers, I have been able to see quite a few of the local teams play.

It's been fun. And to tell you the truth, I wish there were allot more people out in the stands to watch these games.

As I said earlier, High school sports are such a great value. Many of you folks should consider going to see some of these games, and BTW, I am not speaking of just high school football here.

With the change of the seasons, there are allot of other sports to watch as well.

Have fun and stay safe and warm out there. The weather is really starting to change.

I would love to see Rosemead against San Dimas. A few sports writers who I have spoken to feel that the Panthers have a shot. Good luck Koffler and get past that first round!

Just Wondering what's the correct spelling of the word "claim"

Better yet..."Bishop Amat, don't feel to left out" should actually read "Bishop Amat, don't feel too left out."

Finally, "So, yes they can be in the conversation" should actually be "So yes, they can be in the same conversation."

Just Helping...you practice what you preach!

Amat could be running out of gas towards the end of the season and playing the likes of the Serra is a huge hurdle to handle. Change and play kids both ways , absolutely not!. You go with what got you there to 6-1 and do not jerk with the chemistry. If they go 0-3, fine the other teams had more talent but to scramble now would be diasterous, talk about confused trying to cram these defensive studs into the offense? keep it as is, work the line harder in their blocking schemes, throw some short and long passes and mix in Gaise and Anderson and let the Defense do their thing. The offense needs fine tuning and they are working on it this week. I see Amat coming to play friday and beating Crespi. This season is not over for Amat. The coaches are too good to go out FLAT now.

DREAM ON SAINTS FOR REAL. THEN WAKEUP AND THANK THE CIF YOU DONT HAVE TO PLAY CHARGERS

sgvpride.
Are you trying to say that there are only D-1 teams in the OC. Come on now , I think the big tank was talking about other SGV teams going out of the comfort zone of the SGV and taking on some competition. He did use CO as the example not AMAT.Why, because we do play those teams like were suppose to as you put it.

Saints4Real...

I don't think Bonita can beat CO... but you're correct... if they do, you can't keep SD below CO.

I think SD has about 4 players that play on both side of the ball consistently and several others that get a number of reps on both sides...

Frequent two way players...

Barbone
Joseph
Doll
Brown
Thrall

Reps on both sides...

Salm
Smith
Hoskins
Mantilla

Of course I'm likely missing a few players... but it's safe to say SD does a lot of two way playing... Seems to work for them...

Ok, i will give them Bonita. That was great. But Los Altos thats another story.

I believe several teams have players that play both ways. SD sure does. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

an outsiders opinion,
I believe #1 is fine and that san dimas is where they should be. Im sorry, but the Valle Vista League is not as hard as what the top 2 teams are in.

WTH Chuck, nonsense! San Dimas beat Bonita and Los Altos, which are in the same league as Charter Oak.

When Bonita takes it to Charter Oak next week, San Dimas WILL be TOP DOGS in the Valley!

San Dimas 48...Northview 28

GO SAINTS!! GO NICO & D.J.

Amat is suppose to play those teams!!!!
Geez get over it.....you guys suck in your division! But in the sgv amat is the best

Boy oh boy how times changed. In responce to big tanks post guess what the reply was from SGV as to who could stand up to the O.C. You guessed it ,AMAT .Using our win over O Lu. As far as our players going both ways I beg to differ. We did not lose that big to Loyola to have to push the panic button . Let's work on getting that offense in sync as it was earlier and keep the defense fresh as they have been doing a hell of a job this season. Playing them both ways just takes the gas out of them by the 2nd half. That's what it did the past 2 years. By the end of the game we had nothing left in the tank.

How many two way players does CO and SD have? Well I can tell you, Amat has maybe 1 (Lenhart). It's time to roll the dice...Amat needs to play all their studs to go both ways against Crespi. This is war, you got 2 more games left, screw the politics and the rules. Like someone said in another blog, it is all or nothing!

breaking news...

You win. Grammer doesn't matter on a blog. It's like a text message I guess. But the fact remains - San Dimas is undefeated. Teams have scored plenty of points against the Saints - but the Saints have scored more! Let's remove the Saints from the conversation - that's what you mentioned in your first gramatically proper post. So, Amat will likely get beat by Crespi and Notre Dame in the next two weeks. Riddle me this - which other team in the SGV would have a better chance of beating Notre Dame or Crespi? For that matter - which team (other than Amat) would have a chance against Orange Lutheran? Again, CO, SH, SD (woops... can't use SD in the discussion)... might be able to beat Amat and thus beat Notre Dame or Crespi or OL... but on a consistant basis, Amat has a better chance of beating these teams than any other SGV team. So - there's your football take. Amat might not be number one on the Tribune's list - but they play the tuffest schedule and are really the only team in the valley that has any chance of beating these tuffer teams... and they don't have a really strong chance... at least not this season.

Hey Big Tank, since there are no real high school blogs in O.C., you guys are welcome over here, in our house, the SGV. Where prep football is talked about.

How do you figure Los Altos 0-8 and Wilson 0-8 ranked above Montview Teams with 2 or more wins? Or Damien 1-7 over Workman 5-3

OK I understand the Montview league SUCKS but what does that say about the integrity of your Ranking Criteria?

OH Big Tank you make us cry! You big bully! Waaa!

Any reason why we cannot enjoy our high-school football in this part of the Southland? Does it harm you/insult you or take money out of your pockets when us long-time fans of SGV teams spend a little team talking about such?

Anyone on here making the case that the SGV is a powerhouse capable of beating most of the OC teams? Like we were capable of "back in the day"?

We can have as much fun on our meaningless blog as you can on your meaningless blog.

Big Tank, what happened when Bishop Amat played Orange County giant Orange Lutheran? That's what I thought.

I normally don't write on meaningless blogs, but someone turned me on to this one and I have to laugh at any SGV school thinking their rankings mean anything outside of your valley.

Charter Oak might beat Bolsa Grande or Marina, but none of the OCs top 25. Have Lou or Dominick give Edison a call we have a couple of open slots in weeks 1 and 4.

BTW, beating Rancho or any Baseline is not exactly much to brag about since they were moved from DII to DV now is it? Schedule someone from the Little Ocho or some schools from the land of the dirt people (Rivertucky) or Norcow.

Big Tank

AZUSA HAS NOT PLAYED CHARTER OAK IN HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL IN OVER 20 YEARS

IF AZUSA PLAYED ANYONE IN THE TOP 5 THEY WOULD LOSE BY 50

Just Wondering,

No need to focus on punctuation and grammar, its kind of childish... sorry if that is not the proper use of an ellipsis.

I believe #1 is fine and that san dimas is where they should be. Im sorry, but the Valle Vista League is not as hard as what the top 2 teams are in.

Your probally wondering why AZUSA is ranked so high! I'll tell you why. Lets go back (4)years ago when these seniors were freshmen, and under COACH BELTRAN,AND BY THE WAY IS A GREAT COACH, and who for the last several years, his freshmen team has been unbeatable!

AZUSA'S FRESHMEN TEAM,PLAYED CHARTER OAK'S FRESHMENS TEAM, AT CHARTER OAK HIGH SCHOOL (4) YEARS AGO, AND ENDED IN A 7-7 TIE GAME.

Now these same players, are now seniors, and our having a great year! How do I know that, because I was their four years ago!

And for the record COACH BELTRAN, is a assistant Coach for the AZTECS this year!

This season is not a cinderella season, like Fred stated on his last previous article! These now seniors, have been playing outstanding football for the last several years. That is why we are ranked that high!

AZTEC PRIDE!

fan,
Where do you see the faithful trying to justify why we should be number 1. Nobody is writting on here we should be number 1 . I for one am saying based on the formula SD should be number 1 , no losses = # 1. I believe every other one of the faithful is stating the same. Now if you want to put in all the if's and or's and well's, then if the moon is full or the tide is high well AMAT is number 1. :-)

SAINTS DESERVE THE #1 SPOT IN MID VALLEY... WHO ELSE IS UNDEFEATED??? THEY EVEN HAVE FRESHMEN AND THEY HAVE GREAT COACHES...

SAINTS HAVE HAD A GREAT YEAR... THEY DESERVE THE #1 SPOT IN VVL.... AND THEY EVEN HAVE FRESHMEN ON THE TEAM.....AND GREAT COACHES....

WOW! Who would have guessed that the Amat faithful would come on here and justify why the should still be #1. Even after they said these rankings don't mean Jack! Watch out girls your slip is showing!

hey just wondering...

skip me with the english lesson lets talk football

u were quoted saying SD could perhaps beat amat

and my reply to that was if BP put up 46 amat could hang 80 on san dimas...no joke

i love when people run out of good football takes and they fall back on old faithful and talk about someones grammar

breaking wind,
The only way BP puts 46 on the board against us is if their varsity plays our freshman team.

Why have SD at number three when they have not lost. You can try to justify CO's number 1 by saying the TIED team X who beat team Y because team Y beat AMAT and then say because they played DR tougher the AMAT.Well you don't need any of those equations when it comes to SD . They've beaten everyone that has lined up against them. Now if you want to try to use the if CO played SD they would beat them ,then if AMAT played CO you know who would win that one. Give SD their due . As for AMAT put us at number 5 below Rowland but above Rosemead.

I've cracked the formula.

After three years and minute after minute of careful study, I have finally managed to figure out how Fred and Steve come up with their top ten (33) list every week. Go ahead and play at home, it's fun.

Begin with all teams at 0.000000

Steo One: Take the number of games won and subtract the number or games lost.
Step Two: Subtract .5 for every game tied
Step Three: Add .5 for every reference to your schools name in the blog over the previous week
Step Four: If you know the difference between “body of evidence” &“strength of schedule”, add 1
Step Five: Add 2.5 if your Head Coach can pick Fred Robledo out on the sideline
Step Six: Subtract 3.33 if the Guru cannot find your home field
Step Seven: If your Head Coach's last name ends with a vowel, a Z, or an S, subtract 3
Step Eight: If your Head Coach's last name ends with a consonant, add 1
Step Nine: Add 2.5 if your team colors include gold
Step Ten: Add 3 if you have played “really good” teams, 1 if they were OK, and 0 if they sucked

EXTRA BONUS POINTS: Multiply your total by the difference in height between Eric Songheimer and FJR if you can name the head football coach at Edgewood High School in 1973.

If Amat beats Crespi Friday do they go back to number one based on beating a top team or do they remain at 3 based on CO and SD undefeated record?..

Hey, breaking news...

Let me help you with your English a little...

You wrote, "bishop amat dont feel to left out i have you ranked #1 in the valley in making excuses"

It should read, Bishop Amat, don't feel to left out, I have you ranked #1 in the Valley in making excuses."

Then, you wrote "and just wondering if you give up 46 points to baldwin park your not in the conversation haha (sorry aints oops i mean saints)"

It should read... And (by the way, here in the United States we don't start new sentences with the word and) Just Wondering, if you give up 46 points to Baldwin Park, you're not in the conversation. Haha (sorry aint's, oops, I mean Saints)

Finally, I should point out the fact that I didn't give up any points to Baldwin Park as you cliam. The San Dimas Saints did... and still won! So, yes they can be in the conversation. My point wasn't about who Bishop Amat could play from the San Gabriel Valley, it was about the teams from other places that BA does play that SGV teams could not consistently hang with. And by the way (there I go starting a sentence with the word and)... I'm right.

Hey Fred;

We could have also made history today, if you had placed AZUSA in your top ~TEN~ list! We just missed it by one vote!LOL...

AZUSA'S, happy were ever you placed us on your list Fred! This is better then DAVID LETTERMAN'S, top ten list.

AZTEC PRIDE!

bishop amat dont feel to left out i have you ranked #1 in the valley in making excuses

and just wondering if you give up 46 points to baldwin park your not in the conversation haha (sorry aints oops i mean saints)

Boy,
It's tuff for BA to take a hit as the result of such a low scoring game... particularly a game against a team that would have been even more heavily favored over CO, SH, SD, ect... Bishop Amat should simply disregard these Tribune lists. They are, for lack of a better word, different from the other teams. Could Charter Oak beat Bishop Amat? Maybe. Could South Hills or San Dimas beat Bishop Amat? Perhaps. Could CO, SH, or SD beat Loyola, Orange Lutheran, Notre Dame, or Crespi? NO CHANCE! Maybe a win here or there... but this **list** thing of the Tribune's is the perfect illustration of 'apples and oranges'...

Having said that... I think keeping San Dimas in the #3 spot is appropriate. They have something to prove, and this Thursday will be their opportunity. South Hills will have to show up big on offense due to their depleted defense. This season has been somewhat improbable... and the deeper we get into the season, the stranger the story lines become... Too much fun!

Here is the Big Question in reguards to The Amat Program:

Where do they end up in the top ten should they lose all of their league games and go 0-3. OFF the list completely?

Does a West Covina leap Frog Amat because they had a wining record and make CIF? or does West Covina remain below Amat based on getting blown out by Amat 46-6?

Good list.

But, CO's signature performance is a tie? With a team that beat LO in overtime? After LO beat Amat by 4pts in the first game of the season sing a different QB. Hmm.

And that 23-7 victory was *substantially* more convincing than Amat's 17-6 win (after taking a knee THREE times with just under 2 minutes to go in the DR red zone to run out the clock-when a TD would have made it 24-6) Hmm.

I wonder of CO would have any "dismal" offensive performances if their opponents didn't have a combined 20-51-1 composite record against relatively week competition themselves.

That sure is a mandate to me. Case Closed? If you were my attorney I'd want you to make a better case than that.

Hung jury?
