Girls Soccer, who to watch out for?

The photo above is of South Hills junior forward Natalie Maxey, arguably the area's best returning player. There are many other significant players back like Wilson's Aleina Dominguez, Charter Oak's McKenna Gordon, San Dimas' Ariel Shore, Walnut's Krissy Slusser, Glendora's Emily Wood, and St. Lucy's Lynsey Brown. With games and tournaments starting next week, what other players and teams should we look out for and who has the area's best team?
This is how are top ten finished last year
1. St. Lucy's
2. Walnut
3. Diamond Ranch
4. South Hills
5. Charter Oak
6. Los Altos
7. Arroyo
8. Glendora
9. Bonita
10. Bishop Amat

Here's the breakdown of Miramonte League Girls Soccer:
1) Charter Oak - The Chargers had a fantastic team last year but just couldn't put things together in the end. CO is the only team in the Miramonte that returns their playmaker...McKenna Gooden. Their youth and Gooden should be enough to get them the league title this year.
2) Diamond Ranch - The loss of D1 recruits Lauren Montenegro and Kristy Kruger will hurt the Panthers. But returning center middy Hayley Cain should dominate. Keep an eye on this one folks, she is a BEAST in the middle!
3) Los Altos - The Conquerors graduated a handful of key players last year. League MVP Chelsea Rozsa, leading scorer Jenna Hulion and first team-all leaguer Ariel Chen. Not to mention the loss of powerful center-mid Ashley Richardson to a knee injury. But the Conqs always seem to find a way to squeek into the playoffs. Look for outside middy Lauren Stupin to lead the Conqs on an upset run over Bonita.
4) Bonita - The Bearcats just aint what they used to be 'round these parts. They had an awesome start to last season, but then faded quickly in the second half of league. Bonita loses arguably the biggest impact player in the league last year in Deb Musa. If they can find someone to step up and fill Musa's shoes as a legit scoring threat you can bump them up to 3rd place.
5) Wilson - The good news is the Wildcats were MUCH better than their record shows last year. Five of their seven league losses came by one point! And their only win of the year came at the end of league against eventual league champs, Diamond Ranch. And, their three best players from last year were underclassmen! The bad news is that two of those three are NOT returning! Hands down best player on the team, Aleina Dominguez destroyed her knee in club a couple weeks ago and will miss the entire season. physical presence Roxy Mehldau has a "medical condition" that will keep her out the entire season. The only impact player returning is sophomore Amber Ittner at forward...but who will get her the ball with Dominguez out?
Oh, by the way! With the Miramonte League dropping down to CIF Division IV this year, look for the three playoff teams to make some noise!
I'd love to hear some updates from other leagues!
SGV Dad,
I haven't been out to any of the practices yet and missed their scrimmage against West Covina so not much to say. They are loaded with talent so makes coach's job much easier. Hopefully they are able to take the upcoming Western Christian tournament coming up next week.
Sure is...Can't wait for the boys thread! By the way, it's a blog for anyone to see and post.
Isn't this for girls soccer???
Was at the Los Altos vs La Serna boy's soccer game today. It was the first game of the soccer season for Los Altos and they looked solid...Kevin Martinez scored a hat trick with the final score-5-1 LA. If you have not seen this kid play, he is a joy to watch! He is a former ODP player and a former U-15 National team member.
Fred, Why did you delete my previous post?
hello fred, my friend... Just thought i would let you know that Khalalah Todd is back. We will just have to take it one game at a time. And you know Layla is someone to keep your eye on. Enjoy your holiday and now back to football... See Ya
SL Loaded with talent again. Lots of returning players and incredible new talent. Should be ranked #1 for SGV this year too.
thats kool i guees but wheres ganesha at?
i know we havent had a good team but watch out for us this year cause we are packed with lots of good players we made a difference in volleyball it wont hurt to make a difference in soccer
Speaking of the Regents I hear you have a new coach. How are things working out? I also heard that Glendora and Charter Oak have new coaches.
You are right, but soccer is.
2 comments, looks like futbol not too popular in the sgv!
Walnut lost a few good seniors last year. Hopefully, they will be able to have some players step up into those positions. I don't really have high expectations for the team this year. With that being said they stunned me last year by going as far as they did.
Go Krissy!
