Tonight's Mid-Valley Division quarterfinal
Paraclete (8-3) vs. Northview (9-2) at Covina District Field, 7:30 p.m. -- Robledo (Northview); Ramirez (Northview)
Let's just say it was a good thing I wasn't at the track yesterday. Monrovia and Temple City swept aside my prediction there would be two teams from the Montview in the Mid-Valley semifinals. I don't know if San Dimas was in the holiday spirit on Black Friday, but they sure were in the Christmas mood coughing up four fumbles in less than six minutes to fall behind 27-0. But it wouldn't of mattered anyway, Tra Sumler was the best player on the field and Rosemead is a better football team. Then I lost the South Hills over Diamond Ranch game, but at least it came down to the wire. Maybe playing tough schedules toughens you up after all. The night was completely lost, at least a few predictions were spot on with Rowland, Charter Oak, West Covina and Upland (sorry Glendora). What does all this mean? That since I'm 0-for-3 in Mid-Valley predictions, Northview doesn't want me taking the Vikes over Paraclete tonight. Someone called this morning and asked me to make a switch. Nope, I'm sticking with it. No way the Valle Vista doesn't get a team in the final four after the year it had. FYI, we won't have quarter updates, but I'll update the scores on the thread.

Comments
Only a couple people could think Robles of Northview is a great player and we won't see another player like him at NV for a long time...and that has to be family related. Nothing against Oscar personally, but come on don't even link him to AROD #44 and ho them two did this or that. #10 was a hindrance to this team and the "slip" on his 4th down was a perfect play to sum up his last two years- Slippery!!!!

What a waste of 8.00: You dont know crap! They may be out of the playoffs but they still won league (3 way tie last year) 2 years in a row. Move on. You bore me!

C.I.F PLAYOFFS?
The wounds haven't healed yet! So stop running your mouth! Go play with your WI station and quit bad mouthing. Yeah our run is over, but don't think we wouldn't love to be in the hunt.

BigMLover, didn't mean to hinder your argument, just had to come to the defense of my favorite team.
New York,
That makes the series even at 4 wins apiece, was their any other games in the 90's between WC & M-Town? I also wish Monrovia good luck, I hope Maddox gets you guy's a ring, but that will be a tough road to travel.
Posted by: Dan | December 1, 2008 9:29 PM
WTF are you talking about? You must have a serious case of loser denial. Good luck to you in the "semis".
Posted by: CIF PLAYOFFS? | December 1, 2008 6:41 PM
Another houdini act from Oscar Robles. No Offense from Northview. That Defense could have been scored on. Northview parents dont kid yourself, Northview is a wrestling Baseball and then football school. Chokers is all I can say.

Don,
Margaret is entrenched as the AD/Softball coach and does a great job. Andy Gavel is an assistant AD that helped with the boys side the last time I ran into him.
Good work on the Catholic Encyclopedia.

Paraclete
Pronunciation: \pa-rə-klēt\ (that's parahcleat for you atheists playing at home) ;{)
From the Catholic Encyclopedia:
Paraclete, Comforter (L. Consolator; Greek parakletos), an appellation of the Holy Ghost. The Greek word which, as a designation of the Holy Ghost at least, occurs only in St. John (14:16, 26; 15:26; 16:7), has been variously translated "advocate", "intercessor", "teacher, "helper", "comforter".
From wiktionary.org:
an advocate, especially the Holy Spirit
To Joe Amat:
Joe, I thought Margaret Neill was the AD at PHS. Did that change?

FH,
You're right... I might. I'd just like to downshift on the heavy-duty smack talk... a bit. When it's clear it's in jest - we have fun with it... when it sounds angry it doesn't go over as well.
But I'm with you on the new stadium for sure... as long as it's not the way MSGr has it planned. That revamp of campus design makes no sense and is just MSGr being MSGr

How do you even pronounce Paraclete. Pair-rah-clete or Par-cel-let?

CIF PLAYOFFS
since the last entry has probably unhinged your cerebral cortex, I wanted to mention some stats.
azusa was averaging 40 pts a game, against TC 0 pts.
aztec QB was Montview's leading rusher - against TC 9 yds rushing.
7 consec punts in 1st half, 3 1st downs for the entire game
aztecs had 420 yd average offensive production - against TC 131 yds total.
They had beaten Duarte earlier in the year(44 -6 ?)and were coming off a solid defeat of Covina. FJR and others like yourself had Azusa down to beat TC.
Whether you find it a travesty that TC is in the semi's or not does not mean much. WE ARE.
And a final thought for the blogger who said TC "outcoached" Azusa. Temple City's head coach has been on leave and unavailable for 3 weeks. Try making the semis without your head coach.
Peace out.

Fat Head- Don't get too cocky about your eastside CO team. In the regular season they only beat one team with a winning regular season record (Bonita 6-4). Additionally, the combined regular season record of the teams they beat was 25-65 (Two teams were 0-10, one 1-9 and one was 2-8). Nothing againt CO but you need to keep it in perspective. Go RHS Panthers and RCHS Cougs.

CIF PLAYOFFS,
Do your crying to CIF about the bracketing. Bottom line is like I said, you play who comes your way.
Have you heard the Stang Fan whimpering about getting DR in round one?
He, like you is home watching TV, but at least has the class to deal with it.
You need to suck it up my friend, obviously you have not been around playoff structuring very long - and seen the strangeness year in and year out. Get off the excuse wagon. This is what happens.
Your reading comprehension scores are drawing down the curve for the rest of us.

OMG Azusa only played 2 teams all year who did not have a negative cal preps rating. BTW they lost to both of them.
Posted by: CIF PLAYOFFS? | November 30, 2008 8:57 PM
Thanks Goldenarm you made my point and I still don't think you realixe it. You are using A loss to Monrovia and beating San Marino as evidence that your team is a CIF semi-finalsit caliber team. LOL. And like I said I don't care if Azusathinks you can play cause they would not be my idea of a measurig stick. This weak ass bracket should have been set up so the 4 best teams Paraclete, Northview,Rosemead and San Dimas met in the Semis. Those are the only good teams in the division. The Montview is weak and except for Mnrovia who is ok so is the Rio Hondo. I can think of about 30 4-6 or 5-5 teams that could beat Azusa and Arroyo and be in the semi finals

Joe Amat,
Where have you been? I expected your response regarding Paraclete a couple days ago on the other thread.
Posted by: New York | November 30, 2008 4:34 PM
FWIW,
Paraclete had not won a game in something like seven years before Steve Hagerty left Amat to become their head coach. Shortly thereafter they won FOUR CIF titles in a row and have not looked back since. A handful of former Lancers are still on campus in Lancaster. For you old timers... Cleo Martinez is a counselor and was their Principal for a long time, and a former Amat basketball assistant was the head basketball coach and assistant baseball coach while being an AD for the Spirits for quite some time.
The culture sure has changed in the desert

Posted by: bobbradstreeet | November 30, 2008 4:04 PM
Dan and BigM,
Monrovia (not M-Town) beat West Covina in 1994 and 1995 as well. That was right after WC was in the Division TWO semi-finals. Now we have Maddox...Expect Monrovia to close the backdoor with transfers and to become a mid-division power. We will soon schedule and beat upper division teams again. Remember how Diamond Bar's only loss in the late 90's was to Monrovia.

Dammit, Dan...
Your facts are ruining my argument...
Good Luck to the Bulldogs this week!
Posted by: BigMLover | November 30, 2008 2:33 PM
BigMlover,
Monrovia was 2 & 4 in their series vs West Covina, you guy's beat us in 02 & 03, we beat you in 01, 04,05,& 06.
Just to make it clear, if it really was WC that dropped Monrovia from their schedule the only reason would have been to move on to test their ability against different
teams since the two teams had played 6 years in a row.
Posted by: Dan | November 30, 2008 1:39 PM
I was at the Northview game last night. One kid who played with dominating force was "Mullahy" (sp)for NV. The kid is a rock.
I thought the out of bounds hit was going to bring an ejection....but there were many cheap shots flying on both sides.
One fact this year is PI is getting called relentlessly...so much so that deep throws should be made not necessarily for the completion, but for the near guarantee of a PI flag. The DB's and corners are getting convicted whether guilty or not, whether catchable or not or whether the reciever iniatiates the contact or not. Yeah, I know it is a tough call for the official...but their is mucho room for improvement.
Posted by: Goldenarm | November 30, 2008 11:42 AM
CIF PLAYOFFS,
Your facts are fairly accurate..but the point you make is not. A little enlightenment.
TC lost to M-town basically on two plays, two 80 yd runs by Marquise Williams. The Rams played Monrovia tougher than any team M-town has faced, with the exception of Rosemead. An overthrown pass in the end zone - or the outcome could have been different. TC's offense had 15 first half first downs against a bad-ass defense. The Wildcats put up 2 touchdowns - not 5 like they are now accustomed to.
Ask 10-1 Azusa if we can play, ask undefeated San Marino the same. Azuza was averaging 40pts a game, against us they had 7 consecutive punts and ended wih 31 total rush yards...and zero points. That does not happen without solid coaching and strong effort on the field.
You can't choose your opponent in bracket play...if TC could, they sure would not have chosen Bishop Diego last year.
No, we are not LB Poly. But we have beaten the teams put in front of us, and our kids are focused and showing some major huevos right now. Pick another team to rag on, or at least one that had high expectation - then failed to meet those expectations. Their are plenty of candidates in that category.

Please do not take this personally. But does anyone really consider this Mid-Valley Division to be a legitimate division? How is it possible for Temple City to play Azusa and Arroyo and be in a semi-final game? I am in no way a Zernickow fan but ow do they play Rosemead in the second round? That, to me, seems preposterous. It seems like the best teams (and there are really only about 4 in this division) all played each other and a bunch of average teams all played each other. Arroyo had a negative rating on calpreps and they are in the playoffs? come on. Temple City never beat a team other than San Marino and Azusa with a winning record and they are in the Semis. Really? Now, I have nothing against temple City but are they really a CIF semifinal caliber team? I thought semi-finalists were supposed to be ass kickers.

Hey Air Head,
I thought Coach Haggerty and the new staff at Amat got rid of all the loud mouth "supporters" like you. Stop embarrassing your son by posting his jersey number and then spewing such absurd garbage on the blogs. His friends and coaches will read this. Then, you will be "that guy" or "that dad" whom people whisper about and laugh about.

Some people say that sports builds character and some people say that it reveals character. Depending on the situation, both of those statements are correct. Emotions were running high tonight at the NV/PHS game, the majority of the players, from both sides, showed how much character they have developed from sports and played hard and with the appropriate amount of emotion and intensity. A smaller percentage of the players from both sides, had their character revealed. There were cheap shots coming from both sides, and inappropriate behavior from a few individuals on both teams. Unfortunately for NV, there's were very obvious and often times reactionary. In the stands, this was the case as well. For the most part, the NV fans are very supportive and proud of their children and their team. There is good and bad in all things, but I just want to say thank you to all the NV football players for giving everything they had week in and week out. It is very difficult to play football this many weeks and continuously play hurt and give 100% effort, 100% of the time. For most of you with character, it feels bad right now, but when you look back, you will be very proud of this season. You improved as a group over the off season and came together this season. You played together and developed into a championship team. These friends that you made on this team will be with you for the rest of your life. Once again, thank you for all the fun, and thrills week in and week out. Good luck to all of you. Seniors enjoy the rest of your year and we'll miss you!

It was definitely a Paraclete coach...but regardless.
The NV coaches are at fault. #7 wasn't the only embarrassment. Did you get a load of #9's pylon assault. Or the two dead-ball fouls against #30 within a 5 play span. Or #44 hitting the ball carrier after the whistle, after he'd stopped running, and out of bounds...knocking him into the boundary fence.
He wasn't the only "little baby"...
Posted by: BigMLover | November 30, 2008 12:30 AM
I don't think that was a Paraclete coach that was talking to him. That kid reminds me of a Randy Moss type of attitude. You can tell when he's not getting the ball because he doesn't even try. He's all talk and no show!!
Posted by: observer | November 30, 2008 12:24 AM
Did anyone notice at the end of the game after NV lost, #7 was the only player that was off by himself in the corner? Everyone was congratuling Paraclete except for #7...he was off pouting in the corner. C'mon and grow a pair. There is no need to act like a whining little baby. Sore Loser!!
Posted by: observer | November 30, 2008 12:17 AM
A Paraclete coach had to go over and convince him to join his team...his own coaches ignored him.
Sad...

"acting like...undisciplined children..."
These aren't labels...I don't know these boys. I'm only describing how they played...how they behaved...not who they are.
I was embarrassed being in the same stadium with them. Your coaches are doing them a disservice if this is tolerated behavior. And no "emotional game" excuse is appropriate. Teach your children well...

The flight of our athletes to the east has been an increasingly frustrating problem for us...but a program builder for you.
All it takes is a monster program to be built in the west...and I think Coach Maddox has the Cats moving in that direction.
Try to play them now...because in a couple...when the flight is over...we'll be the hammer...and your dominance but a memory.

This post will be short and sweet.First off before I get started let me Sincerly congratulate all of the Final Four Teams in all of the Divisions. It is truly a special deal going to the Semis. This message is strictly intended for Fred Robledo.I would say thanks for the motivation, but your picks were so full of $hit that we couldn't even use it.Just because you work for the lower end of Mid-Valley Football(Valle Vista,Montview) doesn't mean you have to be such a friggin homer.Remember Freddy where your from. When just a short time ago you were a true believer. All year long I have heard you talk about how we are not this or that or Valle Vista is the strongest league in the Mid or Duarte is just to much second time around or How can you stop San Dimas offense. It goes on and on and on.Listen my man go interview how good AMAT is going to be next season or tell me how deep South Hills is.And after Paraclete beats Northview tomorrow this years work in the Mid-Valley is done.Or maybe Miguel throws you a bone and lets you share MEAD,but even then you really know which side of the 605 there on. I don t mean to rave being a friend an all but I could only take so much.Listen my Bruin brother I have enough things to worry about(OUR BRUINS)during the football season besides your crazy @$$ picks.Love you my man.Maybe you will finally show your face down in the old neighborhood for Rosemead vs. Monrovia 2 there is a lt we have to talk about.I know you have definitely seen some good Football games there before.
Go Cats
Go Bruins

After watching the game tonight, I'm relieved that NV will not be in the semis.
They played like a bunch of classless thugs tonight...late hits, cheap shots, tantrums in the end zone (the flying pylon was a doozy!), and worse of all...with the ball and :38 left on the clock, they stopped! They didn't snap the ball! They just pouted, sulked off, and showed everyone in attendance that they had no heart...no pride.
Thank God they're out...what an embarrassment!

What can I say Fred, I do remember Paraclete taking Monrovia out last year by two last minute pts. in the Quarter Finals, But this year...Oh and as far as San Dimas Maybe they beat Duarte by 14 pts..Monrovia would do to them what Rosemead did maybe even worse. Marquise Williams and DJ Cole are the real deal. ASK anyone who knows! Everyone knows that Sumler is the real deal as well, but in comparison to Jordan Canada he's no match. The Wildcats had a very good pratice going into next week against a very supercharged Duarte teams. But Keep Hatin & Watin then there were NONE! I could be the biggest ebarrasment of your career. We still have a little respect for you over on the westside but Miguel is living the truth now. On another note Northview nor San Dimas will ever really know now will they? Its funny how you do and youre 0-4 in your Mid-Valley second round picks.
Posted by: Observantcat | November 29, 2008 10:17 PM
just like I thought, can here those crickets west of the 605 who can beat C.O.
Posted by: FAT HEAD | November 29, 2008 10:07 PM
hey westside who do you have that can beat C.O.
Posted by: FAT HEAD | November 29, 2008 9:59 PM
Observant, enjoy it while it lasts, I guarantee if Monrovia and Temple City had to play Paraclete and Rosemead in the quarters, they would be out just like they will in next week's semifinals. Watch what happens next week, then get back to me. I'll still take San Dimas and Northview over Monrovia and Temple City any day of the week.

Fred:
Do you want to earn your respect back? I would never count TC out especially with this team. I think they could beat both NV or Paraclete, these teams are average at best. Since when did Northview ever become a running team dynasty? TC's D would have done the same thing or worse yet never let them get past the 40. It's been a long time since you have covered a west valley team. It showed loud and clear with your choices with the Montview vs. Rio Hondo picks. Lets see the final outcome was Rio Hondo 58 Montview 21 and 7 of those 21 were charity points for our boy Canada. Things could have been worse ask Miguel. I think you should get out your pin and paper and rethink the Monrovia/Rosemead Match-up you may come up with the formula that gives you a more objective opinion about this game played at MHS. Better yet how about Mid-Valley Monrovia vs. TC?.. sounds very do able. I will keep you posted on any late breakingnews. For right now it looks like you have to get you a bus pass to the west SGVN to cover what could really be the game of the Year! Williams vs. Sumler II
Posted by: Observantcat | November 29, 2008 9:52 PM
think n.v. fans are bad try sitting in front of tra sumlers loud mouth family
Posted by: FAT HEAD | November 29, 2008 9:48 PM
SD fans/parents just cause you got walked all over by the mead does not give you the right to come on here and bad mouth NV. All SD parents/fans do is complain and bad mouth every other school because they might not be as "white collar" as you guys. Absolutely pathetic I must say! No real class is ever shown by any of your kids or parents so please do not try and single out any kids from one particular school,
Posted by: sgvalum | November 29, 2008 9:47 PM
Guess That's what Northview gets for acting like jerks in the stands last night at our game. The players, and coaches are classless at NV and it showed both tonight and last night. Players are out of control, and if you watched their coaches they were too.
Posted by: SD Fan | November 29, 2008 9:43 PM
There's just a minute left, Temple City, this team's for real. The Vikes never got in the red zone and maybe got past the 50 a couple of times. Robles just got saked for about the sixth or seventh time. The clock is winding down, it's over...
Final Paraclete 14, Nortvhview 0
Posted by: FredJ | November 29, 2008 9:42 PM
It's over!!! Maybe Paraclete is headed back to the top.

Posted by: D-Mo | November 29, 2008 9:30 PM
The Vikings defense has been huge all night and got another big stop, giving their offense another chance in the closing minutes. Northview will start on their own 31, 3:43 left...

Posted by: FredJ | November 29, 2008 9:25 PM
Northview stopped on next series, punts the ball back to Paraclete, who has a first and ten at their own 26 with 5:16 left.
Posted by: FredJ | November 29, 2008 9:24 PM
Fred who's waggon you gonna jump on now that your Little DARLING San Dimas AINTS got trounced and are out of the playoffs. Oh yea "and they didn't have to drive 3+hours to get their a**es handed to them, only to Rosemead"
Posted by: jus d facts | November 29, 2008 9:20 PM
Paraclete tried for a 37 yard field goal, but he hooked it left, giving the Vikes life and the ball at their own 20 with 8;37 left
Posted by: FredJ | November 29, 2008 9:18 PM
The Spirits score, but it's called back on a holding. But that wasn't it, a Northview player kicked the pylon thinking the touchdown count, getting the Vikes FIFTH unsportsmanlike of the game, which hurts the Vikes, moving to their own 14.
Posted by: FredJ | November 29, 2008 9:14 PM
Vikings fumble on first play, turn it back to the Spirits on their own 21..
Posted by: FredJ | November 29, 2008 9:12 PM
Vikes D comes up big, gets a stop and the ball back at their own 20, 11:43 left.

Vikings QB Robles goes deep and gets picked off, giving Paraclete a first down at the Vikings 45 with 59 seconds left in the quarter.
Posted by: FredJ | November 29, 2008 9:07 PM
The Vikes get a first down, but their FOURTH unsportsmanlike conduct penalty moves them back to their own seven...
Posted by: FredJ | November 29, 2008 9:04 PM
Dante Donato rushes to two-yardline, after a sneak, Justin Vargas stopped short, but on third and goal, SPIRITS fumble, Vikings get the ball back, Andrew Rodriguez recovers the fumble...Talk about game-saving. The Vikings get called for their third unsportsmanlike, gets the ball on their own 1, 4:27 left in the third.
Posted by: FredJ | November 29, 2008 9:00 PM
The Vikings got a good push on the next play, but a personal foul on shove near the sidelines pushes the ball back to the Vikes' 12 ..
Posted by: FredJ | November 29, 2008 8:55 PM
The Spirits are moving again, getting a huge pass play to the Vikings' 20 with 6:46 to go in the third...
Posted by: FredJ | November 29, 2008 8:54 PM
Vikings try some trickery, a double reverse then a flip back to Robles, but his TD pass to Logsdon was well overthrown, the Vikes punt it back to the Spirits, 1st and 10 on their own 19 with 8:22 left.
Posted by: FredJ | November 29, 2008 8:51 PM
Northview finally makes a big pass as Robles hit Joseph Logsden to midfield, about a 35 yard pass.
Posted by: FredJ | November 29, 2008 8:48 PM
Buteyn scores on eight yard TD run, Spirits up 7-0 with 10:29 left in the third.

Spirits starting a new QB in the second half, Robbie Thompson.. Dante Donata rushes 30 yards to the Vikes 8, timeout Spirits.

Parclete moving, past midfield to Vikings 37
Posted by: FredJ | November 29, 2008 8:39 PM
second half underway
Posted by: FredJ | November 29, 2008 8:38 PM
I'd like to give a shout out to the annoying Northview announcer for giving me a slice a pizza during half. Actually, he's alright.
Posted by: FredJ | November 29, 2008 8:30 PM
A pass interference gives Spirits 1st down at the 26, but clocking winding down to 31 seconds on a false start, Paraclete backed to 28. Paraclete QB picked off by Joey Martinez at their own 10, 20 seconds left, looks like Northview will run out the clock to half, 0-0.
Posted by: FredJ | November 29, 2008 8:17 PM
First big mistake, Robles picked off at own 37, Paraclete 1st and ten, 1:22 left in the half.
Posted by: FredJ | November 29, 2008 8:10 PM
Northview gets another quick stop, getting the ball back on their own 26 wtih 2:28 left...Just got a call from former Vikings catcher Robert Williams in Minnesota, who said he's following it all here on the blog...
Posted by: FredJ | November 29, 2008 8:09 PM
Northview goes three-and-out, gives ball back to the Spirits on their own 39, 4:40 left...Wonder what the Temple City coaches, sitting high up in the Paraclete stands, are wondering about this..
Posted by: FredJ | November 29, 2008 8:06 PM
Both defenses continue to come up huge, the Vikes force another punt, get the ball back on their own 21, 6:40 left in the half

First quarter over, 0-0.
Posted by: FredJ | November 29, 2008 7:51 PM
The Spirits Anthony Buteyn went for big yards, then was hit out of bounds for an unsportsmanlike, moving the ball to the Vikings 31.
Posted by: FredJ | November 29, 2008 7:50 PM
Vikings go for a fourth-and-four at the 20 and don't make it, giving the ball back to Paraclete at the 21, 3:47 to go first quarter
Posted by: FredJ | November 29, 2008 7:46 PM
Paraclete goes three-and-out on their first series, punts the ball back to Northview, giving them great field position at the Spirits 38 yardline with 6:57 in the first quarter
Posted by: FredJ | November 29, 2008 7:39 PM
Kamaron Germany's 11-yard run moves the Vikes past the 47, 1st and ten. But the Vikes do little else, forced to punt on their first series.
Posted by: FredJ | November 29, 2008 7:36 PM
I'm at the District press box next to the annoying Northview announcer and some heckling fans that are obviously happy they won't have to face San Dimas again. kick-off in a couple minutes..
Posted by: FredJ | November 29, 2008 7:28 PM
Goldenarm...
Congrats to you and your boys...
Now, let's both take care of business and get to the Finals. It's the matchup everyone wants...(except the Easties, of course)

Interested Observer,
Dude, have you just flown in on the red eye from Somalia??
"Eastside teams are always better prepared than WSGV teams". You may want to check the box scores and change the bong water as well. Bring your comment back early in 09, it could apply then after the current "EYE OPENER" movement is completed.
Thanks for the humor.

You guys are so lucky, the Rio Hondo league will host both semifinals
Posted by: VVL | November 29, 2008 12:26 PM
Murph...
You gotta believe, man. We will host next week...should be a fun one. Are you at full strength? We have a couple of nicks, but should be ready at game time...
Posted by: BigMLover | November 29, 2008 12:09 PM
The really Funny thing about this thread is I predicted SanDimas to beat Rosemead even though Melendez told me different!! LOL
Posted by: Murph | November 29, 2008 12:07 PM
Big M, we know it took the best team in the division to beat us. For what it's worth, we played them even the last three quarters after fumbling four straight times to start the freaking game. You don't beat a team that good after falling behind 27-0 with four turnovers. I thought we were big, they're giants. I don't know how in the world you guys stay in that game. But good luck, nice chatting with ya
Posted by: VVL | November 29, 2008 12:03 PM
The only thing I will say is Congratulations Panthers!
We will leave all the Cryin' to you.. Boohooohooo...

VVL...
YOU won't let it die! What a sad and bitter off-season ahead of you. Let it go.
SD will be ranked again next preseason. That should make you happy...since it IS SO IMPORTANT! lol...
Posted by: BigMLover | November 29, 2008 11:59 AM
Big M, you can't let it die, seedings don't matter to players? They don't matter to coaches? What planet are you on man, they matter!
Robert Murphee
And once Monrovia gets beat by Rosemead, you can always say "At least we beat Duarte twice," which is sadly the best wins you have on record.
Posted by: VVL | November 29, 2008 11:52 AM
Good point, Murph...
By your logic, VVL, the Cats are screwed no matter what they do! I don't believe it...the game is in the players hands...and the best team will win.
And unless its NV...they ain't comin' from the East!
Posted by: BigMLover | November 29, 2008 11:48 AM
VVL,
Rosemead is a Great Team this Year and yes they destroyed SanDimas!! But look on the bright side , if they win the Championship you can tell yourself you got beat by the Best team.
On the otherhand if the WildCats win you can always go back to your #1 seed BS
Posted by: Robert Murphree | November 29, 2008 11:46 AM
Seedings matter to fans...not players...to analysts...not coaches. Concentrate on whose in front of you...and play again next week.
Posted by: BigMLover | November 29, 2008 11:45 AM
Hey VVL...
As far as Rosemead goes...we're not stupid! We know we have a fight on our hands this week...don't forget we struggled against them in Week 2.
Coach Maddox will have our Cats ready.
Posted by: BigMLover | November 29, 2008 11:42 AM
Big M Lover, of course seedings matter. Matchups matter, are you kidding me with than nonsense.
If Rosemead beat San Dimas in the first round while Monrovia beat some Montview league team, are you saying that makes Monrovia's season better? To me it would make them extremely lucky for having such a cupcake game. Admit it, you had the best in the division do your work for you. I give all the props to Rosemead, they're legit in every way possible. You'll get exposed next week, just like you were exposed the first time you played them. I really feel bad because I don't want to spoil your thunder.
Posted by: VVL | November 29, 2008 11:39 AM
I.O....
"As a former coach" you say... How do you make a blanket statement like "the kids are better...and more committed..."? PATHETIC? You were a coach?
I hope you got out quick before you infected some poor boy with the soft discrimination of low expectations...
Posted by: BigMLover | November 29, 2008 11:38 AM
Hey BigM,
Why is it always (FORMER) Coaches on these Trib-Blogs?
I guess you gotta win to keep your though Hmmm.. LOL
Posted by: Robert Murphree | November 29, 2008 11:37 AM
Of course I am, Mr. Murphee.
...and I'll forgive you for your ignorance in the matter. You are pardoned...
Posted by: BigMLover | November 29, 2008 11:33 AM
Big M........
Give us a break !!! As a former coach, who spent his career on both sides of the 605, the kids from the eastside are better prepared and are more commited than the kids from the westside. Your rantings about TC and Mtown are ridiculous..The kids at TC are overacheivers at best and finished 2nd in a watered down RHL..And Mtown likes to rest it's hopes on their athletes to win them games. Well, Sir, you won't be playing anymore Blair's, Duarte's, or South Pasadena's next week. You'll be playing a team that is commited on the field and in the weight room. Kids that have been preparing for this moment since last Xmas...Sleep on that....

How can someone answer a question about a decision he didn't have anything to do with?
Hey BigMLover are you on the CIF Committee?
Posted by: Robert Murphree | November 29, 2008 11:30 AM
Sadly VVL, you're fixated on something that doesn't matter...and that the players and coaches have no control of. #1 seeding means NOTHING...it's about winning your games. Didn't you ever play?
No...with this deflection you are more interested in finding excuses as to why YOU couldn't perform to your level of expectations...
Posted by: BigMLover | November 29, 2008 11:30 AM
northview players and parents are nothing...you should see amat parents and players...they make northview look like well mannered angels...amat parents are as cocky as they get...they recurit all the players in the valley then call themselves the best...pathetic scabs...even when they do that, sometimes they're still not worth a crap! but never fear, there will be some amat parent(s) who see's this and tries to rebuttle...i can't wait to read the waste that they type!
Posted by: sgvfootballparent | November 29, 2008 11:30 AM
I'm from San Dimas and want Northview to win, but it's a toss up. It's not like they gotta go through Azusa or Duarte.
Posted by: VVL | November 29, 2008 11:29 AM
Sorry man, I don't want to rain on your parade, but I knew you couldn't answer the No. 1 question. Good luck proving it on Friday.
Posted by: VVL | November 29, 2008 11:26 AM
Hey WL
We will enjoy watching the WSGV
You enjoy being HOME Friday watching Re-Runs on T.V.
Posted by: Robert Murphree | November 29, 2008 11:26 AM
I notice, VVL, that you have nothing to say about the game tonight.
Is the NV game another CIF conspiracy?
Posted by: BigMLover | November 29, 2008 11:25 AM
You play who's in front of you, VVL...You know that!
And correct me...YOU (SD & NV) played the worst teams the East has to offer in Workman and SV, no?
Again, you rattle of a bunch of non-VVL teams in your rant. Are you not a believer? We kept WC on our non-league schedule for years before they wanted out...we played them even going 3-3.
Posted by: BigMLover | November 29, 2008 11:22 AM
Big M, once again, you don't really believe that. The WSGV is represented by Charter Oak, West Covina, Rowland, Diamond Ranch, and South Hills. What public school on the westside can match that? Go ahead, take your easy road. If you had met Rosemead in the quarterfinals you would be gone too. If Temple City met Northview in the second round they would be gone also. If you want to feel good for beating the worst league our side has to offer, then that's you. Admit it, you got the perfect road in history thanks to your incomprehendable No. 1 ranking. BTW, I'd love to hear it BIG M? Give me one rational reason why Monrovia should have been ranked instead of Rosemead.
Posted by: VVL | November 29, 2008 11:15 AM
VVL...
That does stand for Valle Vista League , right?
Do you have ANY pride, man?
I'm glad you don't represent me or the rest of the RHL!
BTW - Monrovia and TC have had consistent success with the Pacific and Almont non-league games...
Posted by: BigMLover | November 29, 2008 11:12 AM
VV sent three in just like the RH.
Your teams have played only Mont teams, before last night, going 2-1...with highly-regarded San Dimas getting handled the moment they came over the 605!
The RHL played MVL#2 & #3, beating them both...and we, Monrovia and TC, beat the ESGV reps both last night.
This blog has been running its mouth about how superior the ESGV play has been all year...but when it mattered most, they couldn't produce. Why would I like that tonight would be any different?
Posted by: BigMLover | November 29, 2008 11:09 AM
By the way Big M, the east side's upper division, better known as the Southeast, wiped the floor with the best the WSGV had. Where's Muir, Arcadia, PHS and the rest of the Pacific. Gone. Where's the Almont. Gone. The Valley's best lie in the Miramonte and San Antonio league's, with all four teams in the final four. Please, don't give me that ESG 3, WSGV 0 trash. You go ahead and fun advancing to the mid-major semi's and going home. Leave the real titles for the East Side of the Valley.
Posted by: VVL | November 29, 2008 11:02 AM
Big M Lover, Don't go padding yourself on the back pal. The coaches, and they must have been Rio Hondo coaches, voted in the polls so the RHL would have the easiest road in history to the semifinals. Seriously, you had to beat two Montview league teams, give it a rest. Isn't something that the MVL gets matched up with the VVL while Northview gets paraclete so the RHL teams can skate by. Don't worry, they will get exposed for they're once they play "real" teams. I guarantee they get the floor wiped in the semifinals. You know it, I know it, and the Valle knows the truth. Rosemead and San Dimas in the second round? Just how you RHL coaches planned it, right?
Posted by: VVL | November 29, 2008 10:55 AM
The WSGV 3 - ESGV 0
Rio Hondo/Mission Valley had there way last night with Montview/Valle Vista. Paraclete should finish off the Valle Vista tonight. They're a very good football team...well-coached, disciplined and hungry. All the disrespect talk has been aimed at Rosemead...but Paraclete is no #6 seed. NV will lose tonight...and the hopes of the ESGV will lie outside the Mid-Valley.
Posted by: BigMLover | November 29, 2008 10:41 AM
I feel the same way about the rude and obnoxious northview players and parents! no class!
Send those boys to charm school!
I'm another VVL parent and I'll be rooting for ROSEMEAD!
That announcer at their games is obnoxious too! Does he think he is funny announcing Northviews plays with all that excitement then when the other team makes a play he down plays it? How old is he? 12?
I often wondered if some of those players even live in the school district?! hmmm..
Northview players go to other games and do the same thing, talk mess..
San Dimas lost, now it's time for Northview to lose too!
Posted by: footbal08 | November 29, 2008 10:15 AM
north view this north view that ,I'm a valle vista fan-parent and will be sitting on the otherside tonight because I can't stand NV parents, talk about no class, they win hands down!I will also bring my ear plugs so I don't have to here the anouncer talk about there last year's baseball team and not to mention the wrestlers, good grief give it a rest!If by chance NV wins tonight they most certanly will not beat rosemead ,I would love to see NV lose in the big game, I seen few NV players at the rosemead game last night, and all were talking trash about rosemead, say your prayers NV, the end is near.
