South Hills vs. Diamond Ranch
After talking to Huskies coach Steve Bogan, I'm wondering why I picked South Hills over Diamond Ranch this week. Seriously, they can't keep winning with what they have left. Senior Alex Barrios, a returning San Antonio League first-team defensive end, was ejected in Friday's win over Schurr for unsportsmanlike conduct, and will not be available in the quarterfinals. The Huskies are appealing to CIF, but it most likely won't get overturned. This comes with two more returning first-team players fighting their way back from injuries. Linebacker Wayne Goss broke his ankle during a trampoline accident nearly a month ago and returned for a series on Friday against Schurr, though he's far from a 100 percent. The Huskies hope to return starting linebacker Chris Bowden after injuring his knee and ankle, but he hasn't played in nearly a month as well. But that's not all. Senior running back/linebacker Marcus Schneider is also banged up, forcing Bogan to leave Schneider solely on defense where the injuries have hit the hardest. In the South Hills' win over Schurr, the Huskies were led in the backfield by sophomore Jordan Guiterrez and freshman Jammal Hart, who scored and finished with 97 yards on 20 carries. "In some ways I'm surprised we're still playing," Bogan said. "But at the same time I won't be surprised if we're playing next week. The kids are absolutely playing their hearts out." Diamond Ranch coach Roddy Layton certainly isn't feeling their pain. They're 9-2 for a reason," Layton said. "I know they have injuries and they will be missing a player, but they're still South Hills. They're still confident and the last time I checked, they've still got their quarterback."

Drranch and adversaries.
No answer so I guess it aint so. Go gettum Dranch, see you in the playoffs(I hope)
Dranch friends and adversaries.
Any truth to the story DR has lost the services of #2 and#5 to poor grades? One a RB DB and other a WR and DB?
M.B.
I can only use that game because that is what happened that day. SH could very well say the same thing the day you beat them. Those are excuses that any team can say when losing a game. But do you think that we were just a better team the WC and that WC is just a better team then SH.I think you will agree on the second part but not the first and I wonder why.
just pointing out that you can't say DR's only wins are against losing teams if you don't use that logic with everyone. DR's schedule has them ready for SH.
W.C. was horrible against Amat, so don't use that to judge anything else going out there because on a different day things would change on that field.
tappedout,
That is true they lost to those tuff teams but they played very strong against the the 2 best in the valley ,AMAT and CO. All I was trying to point out is playing in games of that caliber and hanging tough then facing a tough Muir team and beating them regardlesss of the thought that Muir didn't show up, DR did and that's what mattered. Also I can only go on facing a like opponent with SH which for us is WC. We took it to WC and WC beat SH. Based on AMAT vs DR and AMAT vs WC . I feel DR has a very good chance of winning due to their performance in those tough games.
Czech,
The discussion is about DR and SH not one mention of CO. I think your obsession with this CO thing is getting to you . Let it go my friend , they are having a great season and it looks like they will be playing for a championship . Give them their due.
tappedout-you can't use that argument for DR unless you say the same for Charter Oak. Charter Oak still hasn't beaten anyone this season with a winning record except for Bonita-and Bonita didn't beat anyone with a winning record all season. The teams they defeated have a combined record of 27 & 66!!! and they're the number 1 seed. So with the Muir win DR has now beaten as many winning teams as CO has.
AMAT 73: I Agree - D.R. did play a tough schedule... they also lost to everyone tough they played!
D.R.'s wins were over teams with a combined record of 7-34!!! 7-34!!! They have shown NOTHING special with the exception of the Muir playoff game and that one was on Muir - D.R. did their thing, but Muir simply didn't show up to play.
S.H. will score more points than you think - watch!
HEY DRANCH you lost to Bonita. from an alright
W C team lol
Yeah yeah I love that all you DR and SH Bloggers are doing all the talking. We like it that way. Bulldogs flying umder the Radar.
WOW!! DID YOU SEE THE OTHER BLOG ABOUT JOSEPH...AT SAN DIMAS..GREAT KID!! JUST ANOTHER PLAYER THAT PLAYED IN THE SAME POP WARNER TEAM THAT COMPRISES THE CURRENT DR TEAM THAT IS KICKIN .SS!!IF THEY ALL ONLY STAYED WHERE THEY BELONG!!!!PHILLIPS RANCH/DIAMOUND BAR..AREA....WE ARE DR!!!
SH will beat DR
DR QB is weak. Dran is going to kill them.
So do you like South Hills to win or not? It sounds like your being wishy-washy again.
Making excuses for South Hills before they even play the game.
C'mon Fred, take a stand!
How did D. Ranch lose to bonita? were they missing any players or did bonita just have a better team? How did bonita manage to get nearly 200 yrds passing with d. ranch secondary as good as everyone says they are?
Huskies in the House,
If you are so confident you shouldn't have to write in caps! Do you really think Dranch doesn't have good athletes nor good coaching? You might win, but don't deny Coach Layton and his boys the respect they deserve. Good luck-being too cocky in high school football usually is a bad thing. Too rich? Too obnoxious more like it!
Mr. reallity czech, I would never assume C.O. would beat D.R. even though they already did...but I think everyone in the valley and everyone that listened to the radio broadcast last year when D.R. swore up and down(you were probobaly included) that they were the best in the valley with the huge banner on their stands when you walked in the staduim. Hate to see you eat crow again. let the kids play.
it's interesting that some act like CO handled DR yet say they played Amat tough-when the games unfolded nearly identical in both score and yardage.
Before anyone gets upset, i know d.r. didn't beat bishop but they played a great game and proved bishop has alot of weak spots on there so called best team in the s.g.v.(that's a laugh)
I would rather see C.O. play south hills at full strength only because we haven't played them since the playoffs in 2005. But after playing diamond ranch already, and south hills not at full strength, I think D.B. will come through with the win on friday. They seem to pull through when it counts like in there game against bishop. C.O. will still take it all...
tappedout,
Don't overlook DR's schedule. They played some very tuff teams in pre league and it looks as if those games are starting to payoff. They are coming off a big win against Muir who I believe was suppose to challenge for the title. This game will be very close and not as easy as SH thinks it will be. DR is battle tested and they have the experience in big games needed in the playoffs. DR -14 SH - 10.
There is one reason why South Hills will beat Diamond Ranch: SCHEDULE & EXPERIENCE
In retrospect, their schedule was pretty damn tough and they have dealt with adversity all year... mixing up the offensive line, role players being hurt, inconsistent offense, but somehow they went 9-2 against this very strong schedule:
Ayala - 1st Rd. CIF Winner
Won: 23-12
La Habra - Will Win Their Division
Lost: 22-13
Duarte - 1st Rd. CIF Winner
Won: 48-6
Northview - 1st Rd. CIF Winner
Won: 27-14
Rosemead - 1st Rd. CIF Winner (May Win Their Division)
Won: 14-10
Nogales - Boo!
Won: 42-6
Los Altos - Boo!
Won: 30-7
Walnut - Best Team Not In The Playoffs
Won: 41-17
Rowland - 1st Rd. CIF Winner
Won: 45-38
West Covina - 1st Rd. CIF Winner
Lost: 14-10
Dranch,
Dub "C" is a little better than an alright team...don't be so cocky.
Huskies. Who have you guys played with better athletes. You guys lost to an alright west co team. And you almost lost to the most unathletic team in the valley in rowland.
Diamond Ranch is playing good football and has been peaking the last few weeks, So Hills on the other hand is trying to weather the storm of lost players to injuries and are relying on the underclassmen. Barrios has always been a dirty player and foul mouth since JAA WC Bruin days. I see the team West Covina beat in So Hills at district Field Friday where their season will come to an end. Bogan is a good coach but he is running out of Horses. Diamond Ranch will win this one, not because they are the better team but because they are at full strenght and So. Hills is Hurting....Is gonna be so SHitty in Huskie City after So Hills goes down Friday.
huskies in the house
lay off with the trash talk. we all know that DR players are not thugs. you sound a little intimidated yourself. we all expect a great game at our house friday. so save your capital letters for after the game.
BETTER ATHLETES + BETTER COACHING + BIGGER + FASTER + STRONGER + TOUGHER + SMARTER + RICHER = WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN
FILM ALWAYS TELLS YOU THE TRUTH AND SOMEBODY PLEASE TELL ME WHERE YOUR ATHLETES ARE AND DON'T TELL ME YOUR DEFENSIVE BACK, LINEBACKER, OFFENSIVE LINEMAN, AND RUNNING BACK BECAUSE THEY ARE OVERRATED! U.C.L.A. AND THE AIR FORCE ACADEMY WERE DUMB TO OFFER YOU GUYS. NO ONE SCARES US ON DIAMOND RANCH. WE HAVE ALREADY PLAYED AGAINST BETTER ATHLETES THAN YOU GUYS. YOUR QUARTERBACK SUCKS AND YOU CAN TELL YOU GUYS QUIT AND ARE "FRONT RUNNERS". FINALLY, DO NOT TRY AND INTIMIDATE US WITH BY BEING THUGS BECAUSE WE CAN PLAY THAT GAME TOO. ENJOY YOUR BUS RIDE TO DISTRICT FIELD BECAUSE WERE GOING TO MAKE SURE YOU HATE YOUR BUS RIDE GOING HOME. HAVE A GREAT DAY DIAMOND RANCH AND YOU BETTER KEEP PRACTICING. LET'S HAVE SOME FUN BOYS!
SH 17, DR 14 (4 OT)
i just wanna talk about glendora for 1 second and say what a great job they did beating west valley
i mean what a tough task considering the 2 games before west valley lost to (3-7) lakeside 14-10 and beat (2-8) hemet 21-14
South Hills 28 - D.Ranch 10... Our offense is gonna score too much for D.R. to come close to winning...
JUST SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT...THIS DR TEAM IS THE SAME POP WARNER TEAM THAT PLAYED TOGETHER 6-5YRS AGO..THE SAME O-LINE THE SAME RUNNING BACKS THE SAME DESIRE..DIAMOUND BAR POP WARNER....THE SYSTEM REALLY DOES WORK...THANKS RICK...
YES THE EAST SIDE UGLIES! WE PLAY NOT FOR OUR LOOKS BUT FOR OUR SCHOOL OUR COMMUNITY AND OUR SELF...WE ARE DR!!!
Husky fans
I'm very conserned about this weeks game against Diamond Ranch. We have so many injuries and also a player not playing because of suspension. We really didn't look that strong against Schurr and I hope all the injuries won't be a factor against Diamond Ranch. Diamond Ranch seem's to have a very tough defence and there offence has been playing very well the second half of the season.
Hello
Is this blog working. This is a test only.
