Water Polo: Damien, Walnut in Semi's

Boys water polo hasn't been a thread topic this season, but let's open it up with Damien and Walnut in boys semifinals today. Anytime you get this far, it's a huge accomplishment and we want to recognize it. Steve Ramirez wrote a preview of today's games, and we'll have a reporter at each event to bring the full story to you.

Wednesday's semifinals
Division III
No. 2 Murrieta Valley (23-3) vs. No. 2 Damien (23-8), at Mt. SAC, 6 p.m.
Division VI
No. 4 Walnut (26-4) vs. No. 1 Rio Mesa (26-4-1),William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center in Irvine, 3:30 p.m.

Walnut had a good game but came up short. Lead by goalie Josh Yu Walnut boys water polo team lost to Rio Masa 7-8. 2 goals by Steven Garcia 3 by Matthew Morale, and 18 saves by Josh Yu. Great season for the Mustang.
