Your thread to blog about anyone and anything you want.

The regular season is over and we still have no idea who will win our MVP. Seriously, there are so many to consider. Stevie R., and I were talking about it, there is nobody you can absolutely put your finger on and say, "he's in the lead." But we can discuss it. Who will join our long list of former Tribune players of the year like Pat Haden, Eric Bienemy, Mike Smith, Brigham Harwell, and Co.? Obviously we'll have a much better idea when the playoffs are finished, so having said that, who do you think has the best chance, factoring how their team will do in the playoffs compared to how they did during the regular season.

Count me as one more individual surpr ised that you simply did notinclude pepsi around the ??worst??? l ist or even acknowledge their redesign.Other precise comments. The brand new Pfizer logo looks sloppy and careless to me. The blue clearspace close to the wordmark is uneven. I such as the concept, however the execution is undesirable. The aged one is tighter.I do notunderstand what you like greater about the new Guitar Hero logo. The adverse space among the letters tends to make it nearly not possible to examine for me.As for El Banco Deuno, I do notget it in any respect. The line breaks appear completely jarring to me and remind me of a logo I did for my s ister is line of crafts when I was about 15 (it was the phrase pollywogs??? on two lines, that has a hyphen?- ugh).Eventually, I would really like to find out your l ist of Identities which are in desperate require of a redesign. My #1 pick will be Verizon.

So, let's set the record straight regardless of what anyone thought of my talent or career:

* never played at Citrus
* walked on at USC behind a full academic scholarship
* walked on at Nebraska (and yes, was offered a full ride but went to USC thinking McKay would still be there)
* First-team All-CIF, POY, yada yada

Thanks for the nice comments MTZ and jcaz.

Justbecause and MTC, not only are you full of crap but your weak and inane posts expose your true knowledge..."basically none."

Hey Fred,

I love these trips down memory lane! How about a column that recaps every season since the inception of the POY award. Each league and highlights players. Would be a little work, similar to what McConnell does, but it would be fun to see which teams had outstanding years and remember other top players from that particular season.

Or maybe highlight all of the CIF champions/finalists in valley history.

Just a thought.

I'm not certain that KW has the loyalty to Junior that others may think.

Dominic has been on his dad's staff for a long time - but doesn't teach at CO, nor does the other long timer on the staff, Coach Lehigh.

There's a pretty big back story behind the relationship and I'm just saying, knowing the way things operate, it wouldn't surprise me a lick.

Posted by: Joe Amat | November 21, 2008 12:04 PM

Too many things would need to happen. Maybe he relocates back to the SGV (doubtful - especially in this market) Money is clearly an issue. 10 years in public schools puts him way above what an assistant coach/teacher pulls in Lancerland... even Tommy. And MSGr IS still around. Plus, he's a PE teacher... how many of those classes are there to go around? Maybe there are other on campus duties involved -he becomes the AD (good for us), but maybe more work than Tommy wants or Hags becomes AD and Salts takes some of the PE classes (still good for us). The other possibility is he teaches at CO and coaches at Amat - what sense does that make? I don;t see it happening... but like I said - great for us if it does.
Like Charles Barkley's book "I could be wrong... but I doubt it"

But I wrote long ago that I thought Salts to CO made sense. Especially if Big Lou can go out with a ring. THAT wouldn't surprise me a bit.

attn Amat73, there is no way that Damien steps it up to play with the "big boys" they are in a comfort zone and have absolutely no interest in changing.......look at the big 3 programs, baseball,bb and football.....they get plenty of talent and it goes to waste, in baseball they had a first and 3rd round pick on their pitching staff and couldn't win league or a playoff game, what gives there? (moskos, Clemson U... 1st round in '07 Pirates and liebel, 3rd rounder in 08)

I think he's the best coach from the whole family, better than Tim (my kid played for him at Upland)........I put very little in these rumors especially since the season is not over and as far as I know he still lives a lot closer to Culver City than he does to any of the 3 schools mentioned.....shock the world tonight! does anyone really think that the AD at Damien had any input , regarding the decision to remove Scott Morrison as their football coach, Carroll is just a messenger, he rides the golfcart and is just a figurehead, the real power is the principal, that school is only interested in not making waves, thereby keeping themselves in the Sierra league, they are only interested in the country club sports and soccer and what school and AD is gonna feel threatened by that course of action, actually with the resources available to them and the proper coach, Damien could be Loyola or Servite..........but they know if they go that route, they'll be gone from the Sierra asap.......hey, I remember when Damien played Verbum Dei every year in league, against the likes of Ray Lewis,Roy Hamilton,David Greenwood.........what great games.........we'll see who they hire, you'll know what direction they want to go in by how they build their staffs from the frosh on up!

I completely disagree with SOME but not all of your opinion about the blog of old.
A majority of the post two or three years ago were perfectly suited for this forum. Were feeling hurts yes but this is not little league. Have you read a Texas high school football blog. That is nothing compared to this.
In my opinion fifty percent of the McD controversy was legitimate the personal stuff was un- called for but the issues surrounding Iron Mike on the field were open for legitimate discussion. When it got out of hand Aram stepped in and deleted what had to be taking care of. It’s opinion and granted some here are just out of control but as I said earlier the ones involved earlier on had much more decorum then most of the nonsense going on here now. I agree with you on one thing, most of the posters now are just drive bye artist.
But the guys from Amat, Damien and even the Clone were never over the line. You might never have always agreed with what they had to say but those guys never crossed the line is all I’m saying.
Maybe we agree to disagree but the blog as it is now is nothing but seventy five percent garbage. It’s not Fred’s fault at all he can’t be here 24/7 it’s up to the new guys on the block to keep it real. Just like the OLD DAYS!

Arby Field's son plays for Los Osos with the same namesake. Fields like his son was a starting TB as a sophomore. He stood at 6' 1" 210 lbs ran track (Bassett had a great track team back then too) and was very quick, had a stellar Jr year and had a D1 scholarship to attend San Jose State. His freshman team was 8-1 and co-champs with Workman Lobos. But unfortunately, he became complacent during his senior year. I understood all the defenses were gunning for him and so he played soft to avoid injury. The Olympians lost 9 games, most lost close games by a margin of 1 or 2 points. As funny as it seems, but they were considered the "Best" 0-9 team in 1977. Had Arby done his job, they probably would have won a majority of those games.

I have stated this before. The guys you mentioned when the blog first started had certain decorum that they all held EACH OTHER too. It was good honest between the lines debates on the game of football. What you have today is nothing more than schoolyard gibberish and PERSONAL attacks.
KS just got to caught up into the vulgar name calling and his post deteriorated as he continues on. He has to mellow out.
The blog in the beginning was a discussion about what was going on between the lines. But as you can see it has turned into nothing but a babysitting job for Fred. I only remember Aram on a few occasions dumping some post because they were so outrageously stupid and full of vile and vulgar language. But poor Fred has to be on watch 24/7 because some goof balls just curse or drop some sexual innuendo about ones sexual orientation about someone’s opinion and it just turns into verbal brawling of the worst kind.
A perfect example is the Wilson threads. Those were some of the worst I have seen. And now Fred has to sit there and watch out for some of the idiots and what they post. Fred shouldn’t have to be doing that.
I always found it funny how the guys at Bishop Amat could always bag on their head coach about play calling but when you disagreed with the play calling at Glendora you were branded as a loser. It was debates like that made it fun to read. Monsignor and Coach against the Alumni at Amat or Clone against the button wearers not only was it fun to read but very entertaining too unlike some of the crap here today
I think guys like Blu Orca and Joe Colt and yes, even Mike the Clone just had enough and walked away. I do see some of them jump in once in awhile. But those guys always knew they could walk up to the line but never cross it unlike some of the bloggers today that just run amuck. Do I think Aram encouraged the debate and some of the controversy, heck yes, but he knew those guys would always check themselves and not let it get out of hand. Kind of like “I’m giving you guys the rope if you want to hang yourselves with it, go right ahead” but none of those guy ever did.
Fred has his hands full now having to police the blog and he shouldn’t have to be doing that. The blog needs to have guys like the before mentioned to restore the decorum to the blog that was once fun to read. How ever outrageous those guys were back then it was fun to par-take and pick the brains of the Orca, Clone and Joe Colt and just talk football.
Call me sentimental for some of the outrageousness of the old blog days because I truly miss the read.
That just my opinion!

You are right, Bassett did beat Bonita, Pacifica and Norco in the playoffs. We lost to Tustin with Darshawn Foster running the ball for them. Marshawn's older brother is the black nurse on ER now and dont forget Arby Fields in the late 70's, he was our first D1 player to comeour of that school. The older brother of Scott Fields (AMAT) and Father of Arby Fields jr (Los Osos) senior running back going to Northwestern.

Pedro Pinedo was a very B-Ball player in the 70s as was Marshawn Thompsons brother (I forget his name)in the 90s (he and this other kid 6 foot something center led the Olys to there only CIF title) and in baseball Nick Janis was a decent coach as were players Mario and David Ybarra. Thanks for sharing and reliving the memories. Montview was indeed a force to contend with in the day. What happened...demographics? Global Warming? IE?

Now it's just a friggin doormat. I remembered Gladstone, Sierra Vista and Bassett kicking some serious ass. If you put those studs from those teams to form an all star team...they probably could have beaten Amat.

And yeah, you hit the nail on the head regarding Parham (his son played for SH last year). He was the most feared LB in the entire valley, because when he hit you, he probably broke something in the process...bones..helmets.. fingers. I remembered seeing running backs running backwards to avoid getting hit by that Beast. And Marshawn Thompson would literally run over defenders and not run around them. The Montview league was actually fun to watch. I think Bassett beat Bonita during a playoff game and killed San Dimas by 42 points that year.

And what happened to Joe Colt? I know MTC stays out but I could still sense his force like Luke Skywalker. I suppose they all retired from blogging or was it that they just got sick and tired of the escalating bickering, good vs. evil stuff, ah yes, he must have finally come to his wits end with the infamous anonymous blistering personal attacks on him? Aram was at the root of the problem.

I so remember back in the day when Parham and Marshawn Thompson were roaming the sideline. I will tell everyone here, that Parham scared the living SH** out of me on the field. That dude was like Ray Lewis out there. He just never had it upstairs. I also remember Thompson running wild on the whole SGV...

This is for all the youngsters out there.. The MONTVIEW LEAGUE back in the 80's and 90's was so legit. There was some serious hitting going on, and the league was tuff. Here are a list of schools from the past.

Azusa
Gladstone
Pomona
San Dimas
Baldwin Park
Workman
Sierra Vista
Bassett

Ya I remember when Parham and Johnny McWilliams went head up for that hit, that hit was legendary. McWilliams went to USC and played for the Minnesota Vikings. Montview was legit in Football, Baseball and Basketball back in the day. They would strap it up with the best of them....

Another FYI Gladstone was the league champ that year of Parham,Thompson and McWilliams. They were legit and were the only team to Smoke Covina that year. ( Covina was 9-1 )

Just a heads up for all the youngsters, The Montview was very legit at one time, talk with Spoon and the old timers they will tell you!!

Thanks for the time

It really is pathetic that most people take words on a blog so seriously. The funniest part is when people try and figure me out like you actually know me. I do understand I can be controversial and harsh at times but after all I believe that helps keep things interesting. Nothing like a good debate to keep things lively. I did my best to soften up my posts but I still can't win for losing. It's also amazing to me that people get so into my comments. Have beer and relax everyone ( as long as you are over 21).

Jcaz,
come on now . It was a joke and a pretty good one at that . Sure he could have replaced CO with SH and AMAT with WC ,would it have been funnier to you because of that.If that holds true for you then I believe you have a little bit of a chip on your shoulder. It is Stud writting and you know we are always on his mind whether he admits or not. Your right about FC because he does have a way with his posts as to who is writting them ,but I'll bet you brokeback comes on here before Stud does concerning the dog post. It's just the way the blog works.Maybe you should think a little more instead of reacting so quick to a post because I know of more than one occasion you have to come on here to reclarify your original comments. But really isn't this for the most part just fun and games and not life or death. In these tough times this is one great stress relief. But I agree no problem.

amnot but you are,
I have a better idea , I'll buy the decal and you can put it on your left butt cheek with the Lance pointing you know where.

Lets see the numbers!

Which QB had the highest passing yards and TD's.

My pick is Drew Kaluzny of Glendora.

Happy4LA said:

Funny that Los Altos is represented with the most MVPs, 10. And the one with the most success in college and the highest NFL draft pick, Shaun Cody, wasn't one of the MVPs. His teammate, Felipe Aguilar, won the award and is now the coach at Los Altos leading them to their worst record in over 35 years (1-9 a win over cross-town rival Wilson).

Pat Haden from Bishop Amat probably had the best NFL career from this list.

I hope you got a chance to read my follow up on the issue concerning KS.

I believe that perhaps in my fist response to him that he may have misunderstood the issue that I was addressing.

To reclairfy (for you), the only thing I was trying to get at, was the fact that he could have made a funny joke much better if he were to "mix things" up, every now and then. It’s no big deal that it was an Amat thing. Really, ok.

I mean, you can love to eat a steak sandwiches every day of the week, but if you pack one for lunch every day, you might want to get some variety after a while, if you get my drift.

For KS, it doesn’t always have to be a dig on Amat on every post, all the time does it? That was my point.

You know, KS, as Joe likes to say, has come a long way. Believe it or not, I sometimes, even enjoy reading his posts, because he puts out some good stuff every now and then.

It's only when he reverts to the old "Amat success" routine (which is rare), or when he takes a shot at Frank Corona (note the post below me here cause it's coming real soon right ? ha ha ha) where I stand back and say to myself, gezz, to much there, big guy!!

That was it. No problem.

What can I say about KS? He comes off as educated but lacks emotional intelligence. Works in management and has decision making responsibilities. Unmarried and no children.

Immoral? Law abiding? He pays his taxes and his bills on time, probably doesn't beat his GF or kicks his dog but was a bully in his youth. Doesn't easily make new friends (geez I wonder?).

Probably walks away from a good bar fight, however he engages in road rage and give people the bird. Likes to watch football, BBQ and drink beer and hang out with his closes buddies.

KS is most likely an atheist and pathetically gets his jollies and cheap thrills at the expense of the weak and vulnerable.

KS is just a jokester so I find his assine comments nothing but entertainment. He does manage by design to piss the crap out of lot of people though.

"A Change Is Going To Come" Sam Cooke said:

Joe that was toooooooo funny. I wonder if King Stud learned anything from that accurate story. King Stud is a pathetic mirror dodging lowlife. Comes on here with nothing more than the intention of putting firecrackers up people's a**es. Reminds me of three kids when I was growing up. They would catch stray dogs, put them into sewer openings and throw lit M-80's into the sewer with them. Ever hear the sound of a totured dog without ear drums trying to figure out what just happened? It ain't a pretty sound. I was coming home from practice on day and these three lowlifes call me over. I see this dog, about German Shepard size stuck in a sewer opening. You know the kind that catches run off. Well they are laughing and carrying on and I ask them..."How the dog get stuck?"...They hoop and holler with laughter. Anyway they say, "Want to help us get him out?" Well I could see the dog trembling and shaking and well I'm not a dog kind of guy, at least not that size, and I tell them I'll go get my brother to help us.'...They laugh and roar again. I'm kind of confused so I tell them . Hey I live around the corner I'LL BE RIGHT BACK"...As I turned the corner I heard a loud BANG/BOOM!!!!!! And then this shrill angonizing waiL....and the most disgusting combination of sounds I've ever heard....uncontrollable laughter and the sound of a dog in incredible pain.....As I ran back I saw smoke coming from the sewer...I was completely confused as to what just happened....and then one of the other boys, probably the oldest yells....'Throw another one!!!"

Not sure I'll ever forget the sight of a scared bleeding dog trembling with fear and seeing those 3 boys laughing like they hit the lotto. I stood in front of the sewer and told said NO MORE!!! Soemhow it all made sense. They'd put the dog there to blow it's ear drums out...again for entertainment.

I went home and told my Dad what happened and who the kids were. He told me to stay put. I don't know if my Dad beat the sh8t out of them or told there parents or stuck them in the sewer with the dog but the yelping dog stopped making noise a couple of minutes later. It was the first time I ever saw my Dad cry. The second was when his Dad died. He never touched his plate that night. The next day as I walked home from practice I went by that sewer and looked for that dog. Nothing. No Dog. No Blood. No Nothing.

A little part of me thought my Dad put that dog out of it's misery. That's the kind of man my Dad is...does what needs to be done.

The next couple of nights I thought maybe my Dad kicked the crap out of those kids or their scum breeding father but I saw those kids a couple of days later, and while they wouldn't make eye contact with me they didn't have the "beat down" marks I hoped they would. Guess my father was more worried about the dog.

That's what King Stud reminds me of...spmeone with nothing going on in their own life. Notice you never hear King Stud mention any kind of personal accomplishment or give credit to anyone for fear of highlighting his own pathetic life.

King Stud I know you've often said "this is just entertainment for me...and nothing more." Is it really? What about those kids. Wasn't that "just entertainment for them as well?"

here are so many other ways to contribute to this blog. Everyone has a "voice" and has a right to be "heard"...but at what expense?

Enjoy the blog and all the attention but sometimes I wonder how those kids live with themselves? You should have seen that dog King Stud. Better yet look in the mirror....if I'm right about you...you won't like what you see.

Unless he fires on all cylinders and San Dimas wins the championship with his injury and set back Nico Barbone may not become the POY.

Right now as it stands I know SH Cameron Deen is high on the list with Adam Muema and Chris Allen of Charter Oak right there in the mix. Brent Seals of Bishop Amat is a long shot possibility. Another consideration should go to Drew Kaluzny of Glendora.

Coach of the Year is Steve Hagerty of Bishop Amat: Come on lets face it, he turned that program from one of the worst the last two years into a more regemented Amat style of team that finally made the playoffs. Of course a great coaching staff helped but then again he built that staff as well. Hagerty has to be the front runner here.

Back in the days,

I think Parham was the best LB to come out of the SGV. He would have stood out in a D1 program. He had the physicality and size to play in college and the NFL, had he played his cards right (he was a knucklehead and will kick your ass if you just happen to stare at him). He was a man among boys.

Still have vivid memories of Parham, at 6'3" 230 lb hitting a 6'4" 230 lb Pomona Red Devil QB at full speed, it was what some called an NFL style hit for HS football. I remembered the QB laid out for 30 minutes and taken out on a stretcher.

Thank god he recovered after 1 week in the hospital for a severe concussion

Yes, I agree, and that is that if you can't laugh at yourself, then who can you laugh at right ?

But, I think you missed my point, and that was that, if you're gonna post a "yuk yuk," then at least try to make it sound somewhat funny. It doesn’t always have to follow the same script all the time, does it ?

In other words KS, mix it up a bit, that’s all.

Actually, anything is cool with me, and yes, Amat is fair game every now and then.

No big deal really...

Joe Amat said:

KS,

I actually liked the joke. I'm stealing it... changing the names, of course... but stealing it! I'm telling you King - you're coming around.

You know these fires have had me worried and I had a really bad nightmare. I dreamed that King Stud died in a fire and his body was burned pretty badly. The morgue needed someone to identify the body,
so they sent for his two best friends, werd up and amnot . The three men had always done everything together.

werd up arrived first, and when the mortician pulled back the sheet, werd up said, "Yup, his face is burnt up pretty bad. You better roll him over." The mortician rolled him over, and werd up said, "Nope, ain't King Stud." The mortician thought that was rather strange.

Then he brought amnot in to identify the body. amnot took a look at the body and said, "Yup, he's pretty well burnt up. Roll him over." The mortician rolled him over and amnot said, "No, it ain't King Stud." The mortician asked, "How can you tell?"

amnot said, "Well, King Stud had two assholes." "What? He had two assholes?!" said the mortician.
Yup, everyone knew he had two assholes. Every time we went anywhere in town, folks would say,
"Here comes King Stud with them two assholes."

In regards to my joke I actually switched the original names because of i thought amat people would get a kick out of it. If you can't laugh at yourself who can you laugh at? Would it have been funnier had I selected another school instead of your beloved Amat?? And do you really think nun jokes with kids poking each other with a sexual reference at the end is funny? My joke was more tame. I have read your jokes before and believe me you might want to stick to your day job.

Over the last few weeks you have posted a few, let’s say interesting comments.

Sometimes they have been out of character for you, like the "predictions" post, where you got hammered by the other blogers the other day.

But every now and then, you tend to revert to the same old personality that that gained you you're once famous nickname.

Dude, you're attempt at humor just now, was, horrible !

I mean, if it were genuinely funny, ok, I would have laughed too. In fact, I like a good joke right!

KS, to tell you the truth, you could have done a way better job than the old, worn out, bash Amat line. Next time make it funny, and I’ll laugh with you ok.

Wow, that list takes you back to some really good games. Bieniemy, Phillips, Sierra Vista RB's Arzu and Interiano, they also had Rubacalva who was overshadowed by Phillips. What about Marshawn Thompson? I remember playing against him. He was the real deal 6'1 about 200 lbs playing along side with Richard Parham another 6'2 220 pound beast. Its hard to say but Bassett was actually legit back then with those guys for about 4 years strong!

Where is Mike McDonough? I know he was undersized but so was the last guy who won the award two years in a row (Bieniemy) and he turned out just fine.

King Stud said:

I decided to add to the comedy. This is for all you amat fans out there.

In a school just inside of La Puente , a first grade teacher explained
to her class that she is a Bishop Amat fan. She asked her students to raise
their hands if they were Lancer fans too.
Not really knowing what a Lancers's fan was, but wanting to be liked by
their
teacher, their hands all went up into the air. However, there was one
exception.
A little boy
named Timmy had not gone along with the crowd.

The teacher asked him why he had decided to be different ... "Because I am
not a
Lancers's fan" says Timmy.

The teacher then asked, "What are you?"

Timmy sayed "I'm a Charter Oak fan."

The teacher was a little perturbed now, her face slightly red, she asked
Timmy
why he was a Charter Oak fan.

" Well, my mom and dad are Charger's fans so I'm a Charger's fan too."

The teacher was now angry. "That's no reason" she says loudly. "What if your

mom was a moron and your dad was an idiot?"

Timmy smiled and said, "Then I'd be a Lancer's fan."

Well, it's tribbin time, so it's time for my weekly joke.

As you may have guess by now, im catholic, but that dosent mean I cant make fun of myself right ?

Little Mary Margaret was not the best student in Catholic School .Usually she slept through the class.

One day her teacher, a Nun, called on her while she was Sleeping. "Tell me Mary Margaret, who created the universe?"

When Mary Margaret didn't stir, little Johnny who was her Friend sitting behind her, took his pencil and jabbed her in the rear.

"God Almighty!" shouted Mary Margaret.

The Nun said, "Very good" and continued teaching her class.

A little later the Nun asked Mary Margaret, "Who is our Lord and Savior?" But Mary didn't stir from her slumber.

Once again, Johnny came to her rescue and stuck Mary Margaret in the butt.

"Jesus Christ!!!" shouted Mary Margaret and the Nun once again said, "Very good," and Mary Margaret fell back asleep.

The Nun asked her a third question..."What did Eve
say to Adam after she had her twenty-third child?"

Again, Johnny came to the rescue.

This time Mary Margaret jumped up and shouted, "If you stick that damn thing in me one more time, I'll break it in half!"

The nun fainted...........
