Never really saw what all the fuss was about Derek. Is he good yes. Is he great No. he's aconfident high schol basketball player. He'll make a great coach some day. Write that down. He has an incredibe sens eof teh game, it's flow and teh confidence of went and where to put pressure.

But as far as a player. I don't see what teh fuss sis all about. Maybe's he's better that year. Wish him the best.

Know this kid since he was ballin older kids back in the day.

could derek brown be anymore cockier, ok he is good but show some sportsmanship

FYI .. The two teams that beat Walnut are DB and Fairmont Prep...

Just wondering who are the 2 teams that defeated Walnut?

Walnut Insider..... I always post my name and sometime my number becaues I have nothing to hide and always back up my opinon good or bad. Unlike some folks out here like you...If you respect Coach James so much then why don't you post your name so you can take the heat not him.

that had to be one of the funniest things I have ever witnessed on this blog. Classic moment. I was going to respond to the Coach James comment, but there is no need to now. I have actually met Coach James a few times and he is a good man as well. And I was at the football DB game and saw Coach James running up and down the side with the Walnut flag and I was impressed. He was screwed over a few times here, but the last time was the worst. The timing was horrible and he is right in saying the principal screwed him. Although I haven't talked to him since he took his new job at Diamond Ranch, I am sure he is happier there than Walnut.

For Coach James to support Walnut and their programs after the way he was treated shows his true character.

By the way Tony, I don't think it's a good idea to post phone numbers online.

Coach James, First I did not put your name in here, it was done by someone who goes by "exposed" if you llok at the names, second if you are not "Walnut Insider" then I apologize for thinking you are becaues of the post by exposed. However if you look at all my post I have never said james. So like I said if you are truly no the "Walnut Insider" then I apologize, all this means is that their is a Rat at Walnut who poses as a supporter but then goes to bask Walnut on this board. I think all of our boys have played their hearts out and deserve the recognition and to see a post by someone who claims to be a Walnut supporter but does not say one good thing about the team, only negative stuff that angers me and I will call anyone out of that. I always post my name in fact you want to call me you can 714 351 3976. Like I said I never saud it was you, someone else said it.

This is Michael James, I was checking the blog for the SVG basketball rankings. How does the 'Guru" rank Amat above Walnut when Walnut locked them up? Then I saw my name being put out there by Tony G. WHAT THE HECK! I haven't coached at Walnut (by choice) in 3 years. But I have been there to support both Football and Basketball programs. If you attended the football games you would have seen me standing on the sidelines at all the games. At the DB game I was the one waving the Mustang Flag. My problem at Walnut was with that back stabbing principal. It was never with the coaching staffs or players. I can tell you this Tony, this is the first and last time I post on this blog. Coach Cameron is doing a great job with his program, and I tell him that at least once or twice a week. He is getting some players in. I was actually excited for him when I found out the Zach was coming this fall. I have never said a negative word about any of the programs at Walnut. You don't know me so please don't put my name out there. Because whether you know it or not some people take this blog as gospel. If you would like to find out what I'm about I'm not difficult to find. Or better yet if the boys have a game at home this week, you should come up and introduce yourself. I know we met about 5 years ago breifly. I have no problem talking with parents. Within 5 minutes, you will know that it was wrong to put my name out there. Because I'm not the "Insider"

Sure Walnut Insider...

I am fair , I will print out those post. Now it make sense on who you are and why you post these things. Thanks to "Exposed" for spilling the beans, of course you would not want anyone at Walnut HS to know who you becaues if they knew how you support their teams and players with all of these wonderfull comments you make on these boards,I am sure you would have some trouble getting access to all of Walnut sport as you had mentioned in your earlier post. Have you really seen the boys play? or just watched their first game against Diamond Bar which they lost and yes they looked not good at all, or have you seen some of the teams that they have played since? Like Bishop Amat? Keppel? Buena Park? Fairmont Prep? Sherman Oaks CES? Pasadena Poly? or the one tonight St. Monica? First you make their wins to be less and you degrade them by saying that on how you wish they still played workman becaues workman would kill them. That sounds like great support! Your attitude is fantastic.

Tony,
do me a favor and make sure you print up the one about Trevor Beal and his family. I want him to know how proud some of us are of him.

And also print up the one about how I defended Chima Ike for not getting enough credit to get even an honorable mention on the All-Area team.

Thanks

I know who is Walnut Insider!!!! It is their former football and basketball coach, James. He always sounds critical since he got booted from coaching both Football and Basketball> Now you know!

Walnut Insider, You keep sayin the same thing, standing behind "being a realist " is an excuse for you to tear down these kids, once again anywhere in your post do you say anything good about the kids. Ask everyone in here that quote sounds mroe like a hater hiding behind fake support. Yes, when I post I revel my name becaues I stand by what i say, i challenge you do so, instead of pretending to support Walnut and hiding behind a name. Next Home game come up and introduce yourself to me. As far Workman, your exact comment is that they would kill us, wow some support, hinding behind a realist. I am a realist and a supporter, go to socal hoops .com and ask Jack Pollen (he is a Sports Writer for LA Times) he is asked what teams does he see at the Viewpoint Tounrmanet as being competative in Playtime time and he quotes 2 teams St. Monica and Walnut, Both who happen to be in the finals tonight. It will be a fight and a challenge to match up with St. Monica's height and athletic players, but I will never say they will kill us, like I assume you would. I am going to print out your quote and show it to not only all the players, but the coaches and the parents, and ask them how they feel about your "supportive" Realist comments. Stop hiding behidn that statement and if you truly don't like Walnut then just come out and say it, i would respect people more if they quit hiding on thses boards and just be upfront. Walnut may not be a great team and we may lose the rest of our games, but for right now they deserve to be ranked and the kids should be proud of what they have accomplished. Like I said their is a big difference is being a realist and supporter, you my friend are just a hater. Like I said I will print out all your comments and show it to everyone becaues I want to show them what kind of folks in Walnut think about them. Specifically the coaching staff. I challnege you to revel who you are, man up.

Tony,
It doesn't sound like tearing them down to me. It sounds like I am just stating facts and commenting on who they have played. If you are to have a top 10 or whatever it should be accurate. And in my opinion, Workman could beat us right now. Just because I say something like that doesn't mean I want the team to lose. There is a difference between a fan and a homer. I am realistic in what I say about all of Walnut sports.

As for revealing who I am to everyone...not sure why I need to be brave to do that. I don't post under my name because I have a lot of access to all of Walnut's sports and I choose not to reveal myself at this time. Go ask Walnut Dad who I am, he claims to know me.

WHO ARE THE TWO TEAMS THAT WALNUT LOST TO ?? 9-2..

WHO ARE THE TWO TEAMS THAT BEAT WALNUTS BASKETBALL TEAM THIS YEAR

hey Walnut Insider....

You say you support Walnut but yet here is you exact quote......

"seriously, Walnut at #8? I talked about Walnut's cupcake pre-season schedule and how that bit them in the ass...should I just repeat myself?

Look who they have played... Fairmont Prep, Orangewood Academy, Los Amigos, Buena Park, Malibu, and Sherman Oaks CES...seriously what does "CES" mean?

This happened last year as well. I will wait and see, but I'm not too optimistic. In fact, I would love to see Workman play Walnut like they used to. I'm pretty sure the Lobos would kill us."

Does that sound like support, it sounds more like tearing down, their is no congratulating the boys anywhere even if they beat teams that you think are no good, a winning record is always an acomplishment. You say you know me, then who r u? Are you brave enough to let me and everyone else know who you are?

A Bonita fan continues to prove what low class trash they are. Go figure!

Congrats to Bonita and Coach Eckler. They won the Glendora tournament, and the Alhambra tournament and took 3rd in the Covina tournament, losing only to the champ, Chino Hills. And, Bonita beat Chino Hills 2 weeks ago.

DRanch fans & perhaps others can complain that these are all "B" teams (his words) but the fact is that most of these teams are very good basketball teams.

Brungard hits a huge game winner but the play of Abernathy, Bennett, Fassas, Woodruff, Northrup and the others cannot be overlooked. The Bearcats seem to be a good overall team. Of course Chino Hills is also a very good team, and with all due respect to the abilities of Derek Brown, he's an egotistical, trash talking punk and he's proven that on many occassions.

Circle Jan. 16 on your calendar. If MaxPreps is right, that's the day Bonita plays DRanch. Should be quite a game.

Congrats also Northview a very good basketball team.

Walnut Fan, STFU! Weakside High School losers! Don't forget who owns the Branding Iron! And tattoo-ed you in hoops too! Just STFU!

forgot to add one thing;
I am very glad to see Trevor Beal apart of the coaching staff, not just for his coaching abilities, but for the fact that he makes a great role model for the players.

I have known the Beals since Cameron transferred to Walnut in the late 90's. The entire Beal family are kind and generous people. And this is a great addition for the Walnut coaching family.

Tony,
Once again I am not trying to tear these kids down and if you re-read what I said I did say I will have a wait and see attitude about this season, but the same thing happened last year at this time. Yes they beat Bishop, but what was the score? That's less than 10 points a quarter...that's just not good basketball. You can say they won, which is good, but should that victory go to their head? It better not...especially since Bishop just lost a game 18 - 60.

I am very supportive about all Walnut sports and am positive/realistic about them as well (go read what I say about Girls soccer). People interpret critical evaluation with "tearing them down". I am glad Walnut Football had a solid pre-season, but they were all cupcake schools. When you have RBs like Rhodes & King and run a spread offense, then I have to question why some of these games were lost. When someone like Chima Ike is left off all area team and not even given honorable mention, I defended and spoke up for Ike.

I have been attached to Walnut and it's sports programs since the late 80's and no one wants to see them succeed more than me. I am a realist who doesn't want to see these kids get caught up in pre-season then go winless in league.

And yes Tony I do know who you are.

Walnut Insider.... I have to agree with Boomer Hater, you sound bitter about anything Walnut HS reated. You pretend to want them to succedd but everything you write on here is to tear them down and wish they would lose. If you were a true supporter you would congratulate them on their record of 9-2, thye have beaten good team like Bishop Amat, Kepel, Sherman Oaks CES (go to max preps and look at the teams they ahve beaten with winning records), I also note they have played fluff teams to get wins, but what program out there does not, Even colleges play fluff teams in the begining to gain confidence and wins, that why UCLA and USC plays teams they know they will beat. Give these kids credit, and the difference so far from last year is that they play more as a team, Trevor Beal is part of the Coaching Staff, they have some trasnfers that play for them, and the kids have stepped up, now whether or not that continues, who knows, I believe any team at any given time can be beaten, so we will have to see, but at least I have confidence and hope that they do well, not like you who wishes them to lose. Now you know my name what is yours, you can always meet me in person at any walnut game. Just ask for me and everyone knows who I am. Let the kids enjoy their time now. By the way, I also believe that Walnut would beat Workman. Go to socalhoops.com under mens forum and go under thread Viewpoint Tournament and you will see a note from Jack Pollen (he is a sports writer for LA Times), he is asked if any of the teams playing can make a run in the playoffs and be competative, he says only 2 teams one is St. Monica, and the other is Walnut. That comes from a professional Sports Writer who has extensive knowledge in Boys Basketball in CA. Walnut must be doing something right if we have fans that are not even from Walnut, where fans like you from Walnut, just try and tear down the kids.

amat also only scored 18 points in a game with zero field goals in the second half against fremont. they shouldn't even be in a top 20 list, but they'll show more of their true colors yet again in league

Boomer Hater,
I'm not about bad karma or anything like that I am simply a realist. And truth is that last year our boys basketball team played in the same tourneys and then couldn't do much of anything in league...so why should I expect it to be different this year? Same with football this year. Pre-season is just that pre-season. Every coach will always tell there team that pre-season doesn't count when they get to league. Let's see how we do when league starts.

Fact, unless Maxpreps is wrong, the Workman-Los Altos game in on Monday, Jan. 5

Workman vs. Los Altos friday 6:30pm @ Workman

Lets see how the Lobos bounce back after getting Waxed in Costa Mesa this last week (1-3)

They should be battle tested and should breeze through league...Workman played a brutal Non-League Schedule (south hills,n. torrance, ayala,LB wilson, mission viejo) and only playing one home game a 20pt. win vs. sunny hills

Hey Walnut insider!

Go take your bad karma away! Your not from Walnut, In fact if Workman did play Walnut Walnut would smash them. You must be boomer again disguiseing himself, damm your a loser.

let me clarify when I was talking about pre-season. I was tlaking about Walnut football's pre-season being cupcake and look how that turned out. As for basketball, we are in these low level tournaments that we should win because we are playing tons of nobody schools.

Fred
Once again DR playing the big boyz and everyone else playing well the B teams. Fred I guess it doesn't if its football or basketball or any sport why is it that DR is one of the few select teams in the sgv that is willing to take on the big boyz.

Fred, You know AMAT beat Damien and lost to Bonita at the buzzer. (7th???)

Always been a BIG ZACH FAN...I think from that class he's the most complete basketball player on the team.

Zach your Dad must have been going nuts!!!!!

Best of luck to the Bearcats. In a few years with both Horine brothers and the rest of teh Lutheran Stars up on Varsity they'll be doing special things.
