After graduating four starters and struggling the early part of December, the South Hills High School girls basketball team was looking for something positive to come out of the Glendora High School girls basketball tournament.
That might be the understatement of the week.
All South Hills did was beat host Glendora, 64-52, to claim the tournament title on Tuesday, showing Huskies coach Tiffany Liang what 32 minutes of defense is worth.
"I told the girls that we would struggle early while we get to know each other," explained Liang, whose Huskies improved to 7-5 after entering the tournament 3-5. "We just kept working hard and it paid off in this tournament. Our chemistry is coming together but the the big difference was our defense. We made them take tough shots, we rotated well, and got a nice win. Our biggest win of the season for sure."
