Oh now the city and atmosphere sucked....keep complaining. But as I awoke today, we still won fair and square.

Fear the Mead? You guys won't be half as good as you were this year. 08 was a special Panthers team. Maybe we'll worry in a year or so.

The Rosemead game was a nightmare including the city. What a dump and Paraclete could not even fill up their side. You could not even pay me to live in that place called a city.

The Drive, The Weather, Paraclete home field, Home meals (Paraclete relaxing and waiting in their backyard), Refs calls will go against Rosemead more then Paraclete, hence Home Cook'in Part II. Hostile crowd noise and one sided announcer for the home team as well. If Rosemead can block all this out and go play their game they have the win. If they go on the road and it becomes a distraction like the Harvard Westlake game then they are doomed. Tough to travel up there and bring home the win, but it can be done. you are correct on the paraclete staff on how they approach the game.I would see them at games all over the valley.I also think that it is true that paraclete is not spectacular in the skill positions,but that seems to work to their advantage.They don't rely on one person and that makes them a solid team.It also makes the coaching staff really coach their butts off to keep up with the teams that have more talent.

Just wanted to thank those who came out last night and supported us, and thank you Trojan Man, Jimenez, Golden Arm ,OldSchoolPanther,Stang Fan, and all the parents who supported our efforts. I would also like to thank kicker Bobby Maldenado who I had the honor to coach. Great season which I hope local media outlets reconize as well. The loss stings even more today but I look back this season and the memories I will never forget. Take care coaches and much love to the West Valley football!

Congratulations to Rosemead on a great year.
The Mead had an excellent team and this talk of them choking is complete BS.

Paraclete has a winning formula and extensive playoff experience. What they were able to accomplish against Rosemead, TC and NV were victories similar in scope and approach.
The Spirits prepare and scout in great detail..and focus their defense with one exclusive task - to take away whatever your bread and butter is....On Offense, they are rock solid behind that great O-line, but are by no means spectacular in the skill positions.
NV was 0-0 half, TC was 7-6 half and the Rosemead game close at half as well. ALL THREE GAMES WERE WINNABLE BY SGV TEAMS. Paraclete blew out no one, with the exception of San Marino, and even SM hung for awhile.
Getting this far - just makes you want to get back and go farther.
Panthers and Coach K and staff - congratulations on an outstanding 08 football season.

Well it was FUN while it lasted . RHS played a better TEAM this night . I can talk about this & talk about that , but bottom line our offense did not get it done.Great season Panthers !

First of all, congratulations to Rosemead on a great season. 15 out of 16 teams in each playoff system ends their season with a loss. It hurts but you players represented well.

Secondly, the storyline to this Rosemead and Paraclete game is interesting. Earlier in the week there was an article that mentioned that St. Paul's defensive coach (a Rosemead alumnus) was helping Rosemead in semis and probably the finals as well. We know that Paraclete has a Bishop Amat legacy...I wonder if the Bishop Amat legacy at Paraclete was even more focused knowing that Rosemead had a St Paul influence...

There is no doubt that Gruden's familiarity with Oakland's system was big. However, the fact that Oakland's offensive line gave Rich Gannon no time points to the biggest problem. Oakland's starting center had an emotional/mental breakdown the night before the Superbowl and did not show up to the game. Oakland had to rearrange the line the day of the game. The Center typically calls the defense and sets the schemes for the hogs. Well...Facing tremendous pass rushers from Tampa Bay is hard enough, but having a rearranged Offensive Line makes it even worse.

The weather is coming, the weather is coming, the weather is coming... Bla, Bla, Bla... Rosemead should have won this game... but plain and simple... they choked BIG! An opportunity (and a Tra Sumler) like this won't come around again for a long time... So we won't have to read the "Fear the Mead" nerds for a while now. Too bad for Rosemead... nice run... but 2nd place is just as forgotten as last place... you're just the best of the loosers!

I would have to agree with the statement that Rosemead is "Basically" and I said "Basically" a one dimensional team.
When you get this deep into the play-offs you are dealing with coaches that know how to adjust quickly and have the resources to disect film and actually translate that homework onto the field and make the kid's buy into it. Obviously the Paraclete staff did their homework and the kid's bought into it.
Sumler is good but he is not as good as the coaching was on the other side of the field. They just had his number and the Rosemead staff's tendencies.It was clear from the second series key on Sumler and force the passing game.Then when the passing game started to unravel desperation set in with trying to do too much hence the fumbles and dropped pases.
Rosemead you had a great run!You just met a better team it's as simple as that.

Face it Rosemead bloggers, your team lost in almost similar fashion as did the "Chokeland Traiders" did @ the Super Bowl (2003). Every "Credible" Sports aficianado kept rambling on, on how Chokeland was going to win, it was as if it was set in stone (sound familar Rosemead fans), but Tampa Bay had the Ace Card in Jon Gruden, who was just previous to that year, the Chokeland coach. He knew the scheme Chokeland would be running. Paraclete, sure enough, heard the yapping all year as well, stayed quiet enough, and gave us all a true blessing in disguise........

It was not as cold as it was thought to be. I think NorthView gave Paraclete a tougher game than Rosemead!!! Some had the score 45-10 Rosemead. I think Rosemead did not prepare properly and took Paraclete lightly!!!

Please don't blame the weather, both teams had to play in the same conditions.The differance is half time adjustments.I'm a sgv fan and have been to every game, look at paraclete defense after half in the playoffs there defense has not been score on!!! The bottom line holds true, DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!!

I think it's more than just luck for them. They just seem to allways pull it out when they needed to.

In fact, if you take a look at almost all of their playoff games this year, they had to come from behind and rally in almost every one of those games.

Sometimes luck is a part of being good. And in this case, they were both lucky and very very good.

dont listen to those fools who say we are over-rated, they are just sore losers trying to find any excuse to get back at us. you can't expect high school players who play in 60 degree weather be able to adapt to temp at freezing point and high winds.

Panthers, hold your heads up high. You are Mid Valley League Champs, and you made to the CIF Finals. You worked very hard all season, and it was a great one!! I enjoyed being in the stands and cheering you on, and you gave us all alot to cheer about. Everyone is so very proud of each and every one of you. The politics of sports can be very unfair, including having to play in that absolutely freezing weather. To us parents, you're still our Champs and we love you very much.

Rosemead's Matt Sanchez snuck in and got a huge sack, pushing them back to the 10, second and goal...

Thompson looked for a floater to the corner, BUT SUMLER comes up with the INT in the endzone with 25 seconds left in the third quarter, Panthers' ball at their 20...both defenses are playing unbelievable.

Sumler was able to get a couple first downs but they got stopped again and were forced to punt, Paraclete blocks it, gets it at the Panthers' 39 with 3:46 left in third.

Okay, my connection keeps getting timed out, but we're back, Paraclete gets to 45 but Panthers' D come up big, they punt, Panthers' ball at their own 6, long way to go, 6:52 left in third.

On Rosemead opening series to start the second half, two runs go nowhere then Alejandre gets sacked...they punt, Paraclete get it in good field position at the Panthers' 37 yardline.

After Paraclete missed a 54 yard field goal attempt, Rosemead got it back and was moving, but Sumler fumbled on their own 45, 8:22 left in the third

The Rosemead stands are nearly full, not a big stadium but packed. Paraclete is just as big if not bigger than Rosemead. Alejandre is the key in the second half, he can move the ball, Sumler is having trouble, they're really tough up front.

It's high 30's and very winds, probably 30-40 MPH.. I walked out of the press box at half and had to brace myself. The Paraclete fans in front all bring their own portable heaters, and nearly all of them have these hand bag warmers...okay, second half about to begin

Just like Northview a couple weeks earlier, running against the defense is getting the Panthers nowhere...

Alejandre completes another pass to the 15, then rushes up and spikes it to stop the clock, 15 seconds left ....

Alejandre's passed tipped, setting up a 33-yard field goal attempt .... IT'S GOOD! five seconds left, 14-10 Paraclete.

Paraclete comes up with an absolute great punt to the 50.

Panthers ball, 1:32 left.

Paraclete facing a 3rd and 12 at the 1 and they're stopped cold at the one and have to punt, still plenty of time. Timeout rosemead, 4th and 12 at the 1.

Rosemead gets to the 41 but can't get any closer, forced to punt with 3:03 left in the half, Paraclete ball at the 3 after a great punt.

A holding and unsportsmanlike on Paraclete give the Panthers good field position at their own 43 with 3:51 left in the half. Time out.

Getting tired of the "whose house, Clete's house" cheers off to my left, but the Spirits keep moving, down to the 31. This is going to be a real struggle, and as soon as I write it, Paraclete fumbles in the backfield, but recovers.

They face 3rd and 7 on the 22 and QB Robbie Thompson finds Matt Corova wide open to his left for a 22-yard touchdown pass, 14-7 Paraclete, 5:14.

Starting on their own 20, the Spirits methodically move up the field, crossing the 50 on all runs to the Panthers 48, 1st and ten...

The Panthers are moving, got a first down at the Spirits' 32, early second quarter...

After Tra Sumlers run to the 29, Alejandre found Diaz over the middle, but he dropped it...

On 3rd and 8 at the 29, the Panthers throw a screen and come up short, facing a fourth and long.

Bobby Maldonado into to try a 45 yard field goal, but it's well short and to the left with 9:26 left in th half.

Rosemead moving, Angel Alejandre with a big pass to Luis Diaz to their own 45, but the Panthers fumbled on the next play, giving the Spirits the ball at the Panthers' 42 with 1:06 left in the quarter....BUT GUESS WHAT, Paraclete fumbles it right back, Rosemead ball at the 50.

Paraclete goes four and out on next possession, things are looking up, looks like the Panthers D is settling in.

HUGE break for the Panthers, on a Paraclete fumble, Gilbert De La Rosa picked it up and returned it 15 yards for a touchdown, 7-7, 4:07 left in the first quarter.

Rosemead does nothing on their first series, four and out, punting away and giving Paraclete a first down at their own 17.

Spirits RB Brandon Buteyan ran clear down the right for a touchdown, but stepped out of bounds at the Panthers' 29. On the next play Donte Donta ran to the 15...Not good, they're moving at will. Robbie Thompson took the next carry and ran to the 8. They're facing a 2nd and 3, and Dante Donato scores, 7-0 Paraclete

On Spirits' first drive, they've got a fourth and 1 at their own 43, and go for it, getting first down at the 48.
