Thursday’s Soccer: Amat finally beaten

Note: If you’ve come back from a game and have the results, post them in the comments section. I’ll update in the morning. Next week we hope to launch a daily preps scoreboard that will look similar to our blog, only you won’t be able to comment, it will simply be used to update scores as they’re called into us.

The honeymoon is over for the Bishop Amat girls soccer team. After a great start, the Lancers are facing the harsh realities of the Del Rey League. After opening the Del Rey with a hard-earned tie on the road against Bishop Montgomery, the Lancers suffered their first loss of the season on Thursday, getting hammered 3-0 by visiting St. Joseph to fall to 12-1-4 and 0-1-1 in league. St. Joseph striker Arielle Rodrigues was the difference-maker, scoring two goals and assisting the other as the Jesters improved to 5-3-1 and 1-1-1. “We didn’t show up to play,” Lancers second-year coach Ruben Gonzalez said. “Nothing went right, we got outworked and we got outplayed.
