Hoops Thread: Tartans win again, 54-40

There was nothing complicated about Glendora High School’s gameplan against rival Damien.
But the Tartans showed Friday night that even the simpliest of things can be quite effective.
Kos Russell and Calvin Smith scored 13 points each and Glendora shut down the Spartans in the first half to stay in the hunt for a Sierra League boys basketball title with a 54-40 victory at Damien High.
Glendora, also getting 10 points from Brian Downard and 12 rebounds from Brad Gatlin, held the Spartans to just four field goals and 11 points in the first half to improve to 18-6 overall and 5-1 in league. Damien, getting12 points from Chris Adams and 11 from Jacob Latham, lost for the fifth time in six league games and dropped to 14-9 overall.
