Big Bad St. Bonaventure coming to town

Just got word that Bishop Amat has finalized a week four game at home against powerful St. Bonaventure. Does it get much bigger than this? All St. Bonaventure did was go 14-1, beat Saugus 35-8 for the Northern Division title, then win a state bowl game a week later over Santa Rosa's Cardinal Newman, 28-6. The Seraphs' only loss was a close 14-6 setback against Pac-5 champion Long Beach Poly. The Lancers' are still looking for a week one opponent, and word is they want a Pac-5 opponent.
Pac-5 First Teamers? Bishop Amat defensive back Sheldon Price and linebacker Brent Seals were the only two Lancers named to the prestigious Pac-5 first team list. Congrats!

Basic,
OK, should I keep him at Amat for football and then maybe transfer him to Northview for wrestling?.....Naaah that ain't gonna happen.
May be I should have made myself clearer in the first place...we are sending my 2 boys there for the ACADEMICS first and SPORTS second !!!!
Basic,
I believe there are many factors that determine what CIF division a team gets placed in. You're right I did say moved up to D4. If its like you say, why would Pierre move up?
SGVFBFAN:
Don't let any anyone distract you. The program is solid. Amat had 2 state qualifiers (Silva,Ortega) last year and 1 placed (Ortega-5th). Both of them are still wrestling and are doing well( Ortega-Embry Riddle Univ; Silva, Mt. SAC- 2nd JC state). I am sure there are others but those two are just from last years team. Not too bad coming from D5.
SPW,
I do not follow it religiously...wait did you just say "Moved UP to Div 4" this is Amat we are talking about, right?
Moving UP to D 4, come on now...
Basic,
Amat moved up to Div. 4 after last year. Do you even follow the sport? Pierre has built a solid program at Amat. I am sure any coach in the valley would agree. The kids work hard to earn their titles and/or rings.
SGVFBFAN...
For Wrestling, really? Come on now, that coach REFUSES to move Amat up in Div so that they can keep winning league title after title. And yes, it's great to win titles but not when you don't compete.
I understand you wanting to send your son there for football, they do play some great teams and they do have dedication, that's why they do not move down to DIV 4 or 5 when they are "rebuilding' but don't say you want to send your son there for their wrestling program, when it seems that all they care is about league titles in DIV 5 and not about stepping up a couple of divisions...
I'll give you approximately 840 reasons for why Amat is for us. That's the number of 8th graders taking the test for 420 spots on January 31st.
In unrelated football news, I was sitting down at pinnical peak steak house with my wife and her folks and guess who sat down at the table right across from us, Damian's own and NFL bound Ian Johnson with his girlfriend. I of course was the only one at the table who knew who he was. It's always exciting to see a local star up close and in person. I did manage to get his signeture witch by the end of the night was covered in my trail boss grease but I well.
here we go-8 more months of wierd up being stupid and then 3 months of him saying wait til next week.
this year was a fluke. amat is going to suck next year. werd up
Nobody cares
Hey Nobody, nobody cares that you don't care what class of 2013 decided.
2013 Graduate,
Nobody cares what your kid decided
Great Hit and Hustle Camp!! My boy chose Amat yesterday over SJB and St. Paul. Great Environment for Athletics.
Amat was up 10-0 at halftime and was sooooo very close to upsetting Long Beach Poly.
Here is St. Bonnies vs. LB Poly this past season:

Videos like this make me proud of our 2008 team! They proved that they could play with the likes of the above two powerhouses!
Are you serious Amat against St. Bonnie?
I'd rather watch Charter Oak play a nobody.
Also came back from the hit and hustle camp. Alot of quality 8th graders looking to become Lancers. Sending my two boys there (class of 2013)to play football for Coach Hag and wrestle for Coach Pierre and Barbosa.
Selected Amat over Damien, St. John Bosco, Ontario Christian, Lutheran.
Just got back from the AMAT football Hit and Hustle Camp. First Class job! All the Amat coaches were working hard with the kids, great enthusiasm, over 100 kids. Then we walked over to the gym and they have CYO basketball going on. This place is a great school. Can't wait for my son to enter in 2009!
This Bishop Amat vs. St. Bonnie's game is going to be crawling with college recruiters...
This is HUGE for Amat and the San Gabriel Valley!
Uh Oh...St. Bons, Well they wont have Patrick Hall. However, Devon was their leading rusher and he is returning. I think this kid had close to 1100 or 1200 rushing.
Amat can definitely give them a run for their money, hands down.
Well said Bleeeds Blue and Gold, Well said !!
I realy liked the kids heart out on that field this year. He was AWSOME !
Every team has a player like Jesse. some get the headlines others don't. Let me tell you, Jesse was the heart and soul of the defense this year. It seems he was in on every play. He also had a blocked FG for a TD and single handedly scored our only points against Loyola by blocking the punt, picking it up, and running it in for the TD.
Kids like that you don't find every day. What he lacked in size, he made up for it with desire, just ask any O-lineman, running back, or QB that he hit. He will find his spot in college next year and will make his mark. Wait and see.
wierd up-that's what you said before OLu-and West Covina-and Diamond Ranch-and Crespi-and Long Beach Poly. that's what you said before every game. you were right once. and NDSO handed out a lot of ass beatings.
Rumor has it Amat is planning to play a certain IE team in Fontana.

another amat ass beating by st bonnie
Jesse Prieto did a heck of a job for Amat this year and should be considered but only so many get the top billings. He is a very good HS player but that's it and it is the end of the road for him. Moe Vasquez, Andrew Soto, Bryce McBride, William Wagner, all good HS Amat players. Jesse fits in that category. No slam on Jesse but it is what it is.
Hey it's great to get quality games in our area, congrats to Amat. The headline is wrong though I thought they were the "Big Bad Bishop Amat"?. They do a great job with their football program and good luck against bonnie but what's up with ther baseball team down 4 divs? or their wrestling team? I am new here but hasn't their wrestling team won like 4 league titles in a row? When do they get to step up?
You know, with all these accolades being thrown around for the Amat defense, we seem to be forgeting Jessie Prieto.
That young man was something special this year, and to tell you the truth, I am very surprised that he has yet ot be recognized by any of these "all team" lists.
As for the St Bonnie game, yes indeed ! It is a good game coming against a quality opponent, and it comes at the right time of the season. Week four.
Win or lose Buying my season tickets over the last 8 yrs gives me a lock to see quality teams come to our Area. Bishop Amat not only plays their tough Serra league teams like Crespi, Notre Dame and Loyola but getting teams like O-luth and now St.Bonnies is what makes Bishop Amat the special team of the SGV. When will other teams in the SGV starting challenging themselves like this. Diamond Ranch is one that has followed this trend and this has helped them tremendously. So. Hills Charter Oak "step it up boys"
Fred
I would like to see South Hills play somebody like SB.Well at least we have BA and DR if we want to see some good teams come into the area!!!!! "Bogan Wake up"
What an incredible game for the Valley. That's bigger than Orange Lutheran and Mater Dei in my opinion
