LA Parent,

The "stupid" response was not from me.

As far as me starting at Wilson, well I've never went any deeper in my bio since this isn't the "Jeremy" thread, so here is a brief version.

My mother is a Heights kid, not me. I played JAA at La Puente and lived in Covina until my Sophmore year. I wanted to go to Los Altos from the begining, but my mother being a football fan and Wilson alumnus herself, said that my choice was Bishop Amat(her education/football preference), Damien(her 2nd education preference), or Wilson(her 2nd football preference). She was a fan of Wilson and Amat football and still HATED Los Altos! As you know that rivalry in the Heights is for real. Well, I figured that if I couldn't play for the team that I had secretly grown to love over the years of watching H.S. football, that I'd follow two of my best friends over to Wilson, and thus still make my mom happy. I went through Freshman year, and I had to play through BAD coaching, a weak non-league schedule, guys who had never played before, and having to literally fight through B.S. for a chance at an equal look from some of the kids who had played before on the Frosh staffs previous Pop Warner squad. The final straw was being insulted by Dave Merrill in his office, the insult was had nothing to do with football or school what so ever! That guy is Mr. Personality, let me tell you.

So that same night, and without telling my mom what was said, I timidly asked her for a transfer, my request was met by an initial smile, but then she saw that I paused, and she knew that I wasn't going to say to call that unnamed Amat coach that She and my dad had talked to. It took her a week to say yes. I wanted to be a Conqueror since the sixth grade.

Jeremy,

Whats wrong no response so you have to change your screen name. Everyone is waiting for your answer. How to spell Felipe last name has zero to do with the value of the comment.

"Correct me if I am wrong, didn't you start at Wilson, then transfer over to LA. Once a Wildcat always a Wildcat? Or once a Conqueror always a Conqueror? Which one is it?"

Hey Numbnuts. The least you could do is spell, and pronounce the head coaches name right.

Felipe Aguilar
Felipe Aguilar
Felipe Aguilar
Felipe Aguilar

I guess this just shows how "involved" with the LA program you really are.

If I see a strong coaching staff at LA that would benefit my child I would stay. I saw a very weak staff this year and only getting weaker next year. These coaches at LA have no clue what it takes to run a program, they are good people put clueless.

I will give you a perfect example of the LA program. Sal Ortiz quit a couple of weeks ago. Why did he quit, lack of support from Coach Aguilera. Coach Aguilera told Sal he was going to be the new DC next season. The school administration told Coach Aguilera that they picked out his new DC for next year. Coach Aguilera didn't go to bat for Sal so Sal quit. Even a bigger issue is the school administration has no respect for Coach Aguilera so how do you expect the kids and parent to respect him.

NO FRED - your comment about what Fred said here.

"I Also heard that former Amat great John Jackson (also Fox Sports broadcaster) and assistant coach Daylon McCutcheon are on the panel search for Amat's next coach.(NOT TRUE-no panel)"

Was actually given to him from a friend of John Jackson's. They did have a panel. Unfortunately, monsignor wanted to go a different direction than most of the panel.

Jeremy you left out Ryan McMahon.

LA Parent,

Please change your screen name since you are shopping your kid around, and not loyal to LA, and publicily slinging mud at the program. Someone who understands the concept of team and loyalty wouldn't go off and jump ship, you'd stick around and try to atleast influence the direction of the situation good or bad. I mean look at the athletes at Damien, they have some pretty good ones, such as Taylor Herrera.
How are you going to feel when this season ends, and we're in... January, and the headline on this blog reads: "LA hires name (Leighton, Pasquerela, Maggiore, Di Fiori, Salter, Hertel, etc.) as new head coach..."?

Sure, as I've speculated Wilson could get Daryll Thomas, and don't get me wrong that is great, and sure NV has Arellanes, and so forth, but LA could get the ALL the names that I mentioned. Amat had Verti, and now look... sunshine after the rain.

To those of you leaving, bye...you weren't really a Conqueror to begin with.

Thanks Fred,
I hope it`s not true. I would like to see someone there who is for the kids and not about up holding records.

Hey Fred,
Can you give us an up date on the St. Paul job. I don`t trust Roger Murray at Whittier Daily News to find out any real news because of the lack of respect he has donw that way. This job is just as big as Amat`s. Please try and find something out.

"LOL"

FBFan said:

LA Parent,

They are a multiple offense, but mainly a two back pro kind of offense. Zavala is the defensive coach though, not an offensive coach.

Tom Clark said:

The finalists are the dc from Northview and assistant coach from Diamond Ranch Beadle. Roches son-in-law

LA Parent said:

FBFan,

What offense does NV run, I'am suppecting it is single-wing or double-wing.

NV,

You guys were asking for answers and I was trying to provide them for you, but no one listened. Look at my post at 10:31

Notimeforbaseball,

Let's talk baseball....Football is OVER for the season, baseball, baseball, baseball. Gotta love basebal.

FredJ said:

Well, I can tell you that Jim Arellanes is staying, as far as I know.

Nv said:

Fred:

What about that NV rumor that a coach was leaving?

FredJ said:

I think you're right, guess if I throw out enough names, eventually I'll get it

No Fred said:

Let's Dissect:

From very credible sources, I've learned that Diamond Ranch's Roddy Layton and Wilson High offensive coordinator Greg Willig have applied and are being considered.(NOT TRUE)

I Also heard that former Amat great John Jackson (also Fox Sports broadcaster) and assistant coach Daylon McCutcheon are on the panel search for Amat's next coach.(NOT TRUE-no panel)

If this is true, it sure helps Layton's chances. Another very credible candidate is believed to be former Amat assistant coach John Aguirre, who currently works for CIF. Aguirre ran a successful city-championship winning team at Carson, and has deep Amat connections.(VERY TRUE)
Another rumor that I've heard is that Kory Minor may return and be part of the coaching staff. Stay tuned!
(NOT TRUE)

Steve Hagerty is a name I've heard mentioned too, and since this thread started, some have been telling me he's the front-runner.
(VERY TRUE)

Wilson High: I've heard that Mike DiFiori, yup, the former Bishop Amat coach, has thrown his name in the hat. I've heard this from two good sources, so we'll see"
(NOT TRUE)

Six rumors. Two that were true. Not a good percentage Fred.

Fred that last post was comical at best

Bishop Amat: From very credible sources, I've learned that Diamond Ranch's Roddy Layton and Wilson High offensive coordinator Greg Willig have applied and are being considered. Some schools go on the record - yea right - pick and choose when you have scruples and when you don't - try and make yourself look good - twist it around - no one ever remembers - right?

Fred - you can't talk out of both side of your mouth and think we won't get it.

FredJ said:

The difference is some schools go on record and don't mind talking about final candidates. Some candidates themselves, like Gano, announce they're interested. In this case, I was told who the finalists were off the record, so that's where it stands.

FBFan said:

Okay I'll let the cat out of the bag. The two are Zavalla, DC from Northview and an assistant from DR whose name I don't know.

Viking...

Good Point

A year ago Fred ranted and raved about who was applying for the Amat job and gave practically minute by minute accounts of who interviewed, who was a finalist, who had the inside track

Maybe he has learned some journalistic integrity in the last year.....but I doubt it - he probably just doesn't know.

viking said:

Way so much of a hush hush? When persons applied for past coaching positions. they were named. it was even on a blog stating that the finalist are: so why so different this time?
