huh,
Walnut will have one of their better baseball teams coming out this year.
The losing at Walnut is finally over.
Unless Coach Hoff finds a way to botch this season as well.

Walnut Insider,
I still run into Dutton and Hannon around town and enjoy talking to them. Good family friends as my dad coached both of their boys in baseball. As for Gunn we had the pleasure of his being our principle at GHS for half a year.

Walnut baseball? Didn't know they actually competed in or out of their own league.

WC fan, CIF rules have changed.....Every high school team can play year round and be coached by their high school coach. Changed last year. South Hills played at D.B. High this past summer.

Coach Hoff is a good role model with all his Christian Faith etc. but he does play favorites based on that sometimes and almost never fields the best nine out there. This is when the team get beat. Steven Garcia will tear it up this year.

WC Fan,
I haven't really looked at baseball yet, but I will see what I can find out about the team this year. I will say this though, despite his lack of success Coach Hoff is a great role model and coach for the program.
And Plaid, I love hearing stories from Gunn & Dutton about those first few years of existence as a football program. Some really great funny stories there.

WC fan, Did Diamond Bar play you in a "Friendly" game over the summer?
Posted by: dreamer | January 15, 2009 9:16 AM
Walnut Insider,
It is always good to hear how Walnut is doing in the sports of football baseball and basketball. As we all know Walnut Girls rule the school when it comes to the athletics. I like to know more about your upcoming baseball team, you lost some pitching from last year, who will step up this year and what incoming JV and freshman will make your Varsity Squad? Seems like So. Hills always beats your team but seems like you play even with the rest of the San Antonio. Could this be the year Walnut gets to the CIF with it's baseball squad. What is your opinion of your coaching staff, they have been there along time with really no success.

Well I was mentioned once (thanks Blog Guru). Not bad considering I just started posting here a few weeks ago.
All I want to do is share my knowledge of Walnut past & current. I know Walnut sports has been a bit of an oxymoron the last decade or so (minus Girls Soccer and Tennis), but there was a time and I don't want people to forget it.
I also do get a ton of information from past/present coaches and players. Let me put it this way, if I was anymore on the insider Fred would be interviewing me as a coach.
By the way, Joe Amat gets my #1 vote.

Well, im glad I got in on the top ten of something I suppose. Ha ha.
But, to tell you the truth, the reason I throw these silly jokes around so much, is because folks get way to serious in here sometimes.
It’s just a blog folks, not life or death.
I think however, that allot of the reasons why people have so much passion in here, is because were usually taking about someone else’s kids.
And if you think about it, when it comes to you're own kid, then ya, I suppose it can get a few folks pretty riled up a bit right?
Anyway, kids do say the darndest things sometimes, and with that, I’ll leave you with my latest (weekly just tribbin joke). Have fun with it people, and don’t hate.
A little boy was afraid of the dark. One night his mother told him to go out to the back porch and bring her the broom.
The little boy turned to his mother and said, "Mama, I don't want to go out there. It's dark."
The mother smiled reassuringly at her son. "You don't have to be afraid of the dark," she explained. "Jesus is out there. He'll look after you and protect you."
The little boy looked at his mother real hard and asked, "Are you sure he's out there?"
"Yes, I'm sure. He is everywhere, and he is always ready to help you when you need him," she said.
The little boy thought about that for a minute and then went to the back door and cracked it a little. Peering out into the darkness, he called, "Jesus? If you're out there, would you please hand me the broom?"

Last Saturday AZUSA had it's Football banquet and it was great! Coach Sherf, was outstanding in his presentation and giving out the awards! Can't believe the seasons over but what a great year and the memories will last for a life time!
