Football: Padilla enrolls at South Hills

| | Comments (45) |

This is the time when we see who's changing addresses and it appears South El Monte junior running back/defensive back Neiko Padilla has already checked out and is taking classes at South Hills in preparation for next fall. This is what Padilla told the Mid-Valley news. "There were a few reasons why but it's mainly because my Dad lives out by South Hills and Coach (Erick) Escamilla stepping down here," Padilla said. "I know they have real good program there. It's going to real competitive. It looks like I'll be playing mostly strong safety and little bit of outside linebacker. I've already been working out there." Padilla rushed for 431 yards on 61 carries, and scored seven touchdowns. He had 19 tackles on defense.

Googd to read it - now I am clever guy.

MVL Watcher said:

Elias- that seems to be the problem with a lot of openings in the area. Who in house can or would take over? Doesn't the old El Rancho Coach teach there? Are there some other coaches in the district that could go over?

elias buckwalter said:

SEM will probably have to stay in house because there are no teaching jobs currently available. Escamilla is staying on as a teacher. Not sure who is the front runner right now.

WOW...GET A LIFE PEOPLE! YOUR ALL PATHETIC!

Fred or Elias who do you hear is in at South EM?

I never insisted anything about Padilla - it was pointed out that you were ranting and raving about things you KNOW NOTHING about.

I don't have an answer for the other situations other than I don't care they have nothing to do with this.

How and where am I defending the CIF?

Again, before you go off on the handle - get your facts straight otherwise - when .......you look in the mirror pal ....all you see is and idiot/moron.

debate said:

elias-you conveniently ignored your Thropay example that was destroyed in rebuttal with the very simple fact that HE was ineligible.

Sorry - YOU lose that debate point!

elias buckwalter said:

I point out facts about other transfer students that weren't penalized and now we're talking about Padilla who you insist should be declared ineligible and you don't see the correlation? (Correlation means connection or relation by the way.) I'm way out there? Are you awake? You have no answer for the other situations and no defense for the CIF which I figured would be the case. Go back to debating class. You lost! dooohh!

Look in the mirror Pal said:

elias buckwalter

Man you really are out there. None of this has/had anything to do with who transferred and played where - it was all in relation to your ranting and raving about how .......now these are all your direct quotes
"He's living with his Dad who lives in the South Hills district. He does have a bona fide address moron" "He's living with his DAD - THAT'S DAD IDIOT! How can the CIF tell him who he can live with? We're paying their salary and they're going to say which parent to live with?"

Facts is before you go off on childish tirades you should MAYBE educate on the facts.....otherwise......who is the Idiot/Moron..........again -look in the mirror pal

reality czech,

I missed you!

elias-great point! Thropay was at three schools in a year - and INELIGIBLE to play football at the 3rd school BECAUSE THOSE ARE THE RULES.

elias buckwalter said:

Look in the Mirror- I think you better...Give me a break with all these hard and fast "RULES" Suddenly this guy is the heavy? Where was CIF when Daniel Drayton transferred from Montebello to Los Altos a few years ago? Where were they when James Davis went from Monrovia to Los Altos and then back to Monrovia for his senior year? Morales went to St. Paul..Josiah Thropay has been at three different schools in the last year. You're telling me they all had legitimate addresses? Now suddenly CIF is going to crack down on Padilla? If you're going to enforce rules do it in every case. Padilla is legit but was everybody else? again, it's a joke!

InTheKnow II said:

What does Bogan have to say about 8th grade students training after school in his weight room that legitimately should be attending other high schools in the fall considering they do not live in the South Hills boundary?!

InTheKnow said:

Bogan is not an idiot. The kid did not work out before he transferred schools. There is no eligibility question right now. He has until September to have his mom transfer guardianship over to his father and he is eligible. Do you think South Hills is going to risk their upcoming season on a 2nd team all league player from the MVL? He is a good player, but if he starts for the Huskies then they are not as strong as I believed heading into 09'. He can come out and say whatever he wants. All CIF cares about is whether or not the kid is living where he says he is & was it a legal change of residence. Don't forget not long ago SEM got a kid by having him move into a hotel inside their attendance area. Padilla will be allowed to play.

elias buckwalter

tsk tsk tsk - each time you open your mouth you make yourself look more and more ignorant.

To bad

Again - rules Pal - rule. Look them up if you want. One day you will learn it's not opinion that counts - just the facts

answer said:

elias-you can respond to the post below geezus. the address you use must be your legal guardian.

elias buckwalter said:

Why don't you want me to post? Because you have no answer? That was...uh.. yeah..a really good response... Sorry South fan he's not coming back!

geezus said:

Elias:

Spare yourself and the school you represent by posting no more.

Please.

Joe Amat said:

elias,

The student/athletes can live with whichever parent the family chooses, but in order to be *eligible* the address they provide to determine *residential eligibility* must be that of their *legal guardian* according to custody arrangements.

Now if the family agrees to legally change custody, for whatever reason, and provide CIF with that legal document, eligibility can be obtained.

elias buckwalter said:

What do you mean he can't bounce between parents? what a ridicuolus statement. What if the parent he was living with moved out of the country? then he has to go to? get real. He's living with his DAD - THAT'S DAD IDIOT! How can the CIF tell him who he can live with? We're paying their salary and they're going to say which parent to live with? CIF is a joke!

Observer nailed you - what...... no smart remark from the peanut gallery. C'mon - man up - show us what you got

Fact is the kid incriminated himself in regards to eligibility - he said he was transferring for athletic reasons and is not changing residences legally -

You ask "Why can't player's leave?" I don't know - maybe something called rules' that you obviously know nothing about

Observer said:

Before you call someone a moron, you should probably educate yourself regarding the CIF transfer rules. In order for a transfer to be eligible at their new school (based upon residency) they must move with the parent/guardian with whom they established residency at their previous school. The CIF does not allow children in divorce situations to bounce between parents. They can transfer and go to school, but they must sit out one year of varsity competition at their new school. This rule applies to any sport they played at their old school (even lower level competition).

elias buckwalter said:

Why would he be ineligible? He's living with his Dad who lives in the South Hills district. He does have a bona fide address moron. That's why he moved out there. Hey coaches can leave why not players especially if they're living there!

zzzzz said:

Follow your heart Padilla! Best of luck..!!!

SELL OUT!! HA-HA

WHEN THE TOUGH GETS GOING THE SMART KID LEAVES!! SMART KID! GOOD LUCK PADILLA!

football101 said:

south has been a CIF contender every season that Padilla played. if i am corrent, he played Varsity his freshman year right? How is that not making an impact? The people talking crap probably dont even play!!

silly you said:

ever thought that he didnt make an impact because his coaches favored other players and never gave him the ball? everytime he touched it he broke loose!

MVL Fan said:

Padilla is a sell out. When the going gets tough the WEAK get going! This kid had potential to be one of the better athletes in the MVL and instead decided to take a back seat at South Hills. Will he even be eligible? Not sure if it was the right move or the right time but hopefully he proves many doubter wrong.

Ineligible Already said:

This guy has already - by his own words made himslef ineligible

"There were a few reasons why but it's mainly because my Dad lives out by South Hills and Coach (Erick) Escamilla stepping down here"

So he is not making a bonafide change of address - does not live with dad now AND is stating he is transferring because of athletic reasons"

Doink!

You made yourself ineligible pal

Wyatt Earp said:

South Hills gets plenty of transfer athletes from the Pasadena area like mentioned below as well as others from areas like along the 60 freeway like mentioned above.

dan77 said:

Padilla will not have an impact. He was not a great player in the MVL. I guess he saw the writing on the wall at South El Monte.

Doc Holliday said:

...or from John Muir high on the WESTSIDE...that where Geoff Vaughns and Miles Bevel woulda went if they stayed in DENA

Confused said:

Today is the 1st day for college signing of high school seniors. Is this story about South Hills new recruiting class?? Who's next CO gets new wide receivers from Pasadena HS??

TskTsk said:

"I've already been working out there."

Which, if he did before being enrolled, I believe would be against CIF rules?
