GSoccer: San Dimas wins VVL; LA beats CO
San Dimas won the Valle Vista League title with a 5-3 victory over Northview on Tuesday. Ariel Shore, Erika Kalmar, Rachel Quaternik and Shannon McKee each scored in the second half Tuesday as the Saints secured a rare come-from-behind victory. The Saints, who also received a first-half goal from Quaternik, improved to 16-4-4 overall and 9-0 in league. Northview, receiving goals from Natalie Barbera, Marissa Cross and Alyssia Fuentes, slipped to 12-10-2 and 6-3.

Los Altos 3, Charter Oak 2: -- Los Altos girls soccer coach Chris Reeder knows his team is young and inexperienced, but he never stopped preaching will over skill, and on Wednesday the Conquerors' gutty effort prevailed, just as it has all season long. After falling behind twice, Los Altos rallied for a 3-2 victory over host Charter Oak, and can clinch the Miramonte League title outright with a victory over Wilson Thursday, which would be the Conquerors' first league title since 1993 -- also the last time the Conquerors won a CIF-SS divisional title. The Conquerors improved to 15-7-2 and 4-1-2 while the Chargers dropped to 15-7-2 and 3-3-1.
"To be honest I really didn't expect this from us," Reeder said. "We pretty much got outplayed on the field today. Charter Oak is a great team but our energy picked up in the second half and we started winning 50-50 balls and giving ourselves chances in front of the goal."
After Conquerors' forward Tara Coffer narrowly beat an offside trap and finished on a breakaway to level the match 2-2 in the 68th minute, sophomore midfielder Lauren Stupin delivered the knockout minutes later.
Running down the left flank looking for someone to cross the ball into, Stupin curled a shot toward the far post that kept on curling. It seemed to confuse Chargers goalkeeper Elvia Gonzalez, who back-peddled quickly to get finger on it, but she couldn't stop it from sneaking in, giving Stupin and the Chargers a 75th minute game winner.

As the saying goes, within the professional's mind there aren't many choices, but for someone possessing a beginner's mind, everything is wide open.
This fantatic post was very nicely written, and it also contains many good facts. I appreciated your professional way of writing the post. You have made it easy for me to understand. Good and precise info.
Since it was apparently my posting which provoked this negative discussion, I would like to request a truce. Some of the postings have been very negative about these high school athletes. I was simply trying to be positive and provide recognition where it was due. Truce? Peace?
SaintsFan- Am I bitter about dealing with four coaches in four years? I don't think so but maybe I am. I'm not going to argue that point. It doesn't matter because even if it's true, it doesn't make me any less informed.
As for the list, you forgot some too. Does that mean you don't know what you're talking about? Of course it doesn't.
You're making my point for me though: SD has players other teams would cut. They may need be good enough to play with decent clubs or at better high schools, but they're still the best the VVL has to offer. What's wrong with having the best players in the league? You should be bragging about it. Just don't get silly and call anyone great. The closest you have to greatness isn't even playing soccer in college.
You should face the facts, even when they hurt.
Oh, and you missed a few teams our girls play for: Real So Cal, Arsenal, Barcelona, Legends, West Coast
As I said, bitter and not informed. We did not pick our league. My daughter has played with or against kids from all of the teams we play in league and many of those at the club level. Maybe teams like Pomona, Ganesha, and Baldwin Park don't have kids that play club, but they have skilled players who have grown up with a ball at their feet. Quit putting programs down just because they do not play with the elite clubs. Clubs can choose whoever they want to play, schools get who goes there. Most schools in this area cut more kids that San Dimas has try out and we still make it work. AND our kids enjoy the game and have fun together. At the end of the day we are trying to produce well rounded adults - Good luck to your students.
And yes, there area several players from the other teams that we would be glad to have.
SaintsFan- Thanks for the assist! Your argument strengthens my point that San Dimas is only "great" because they're playing against scrubs. On a side note, most of the "clubs" they play for don't count: Lazers, Stars, Alliance, shall I go on? My error was failing to put the qualifier "real" in front.
That being said, the worst club is better than 90% of AYSO teams. So the more you have, the more obvious it is that you're supposed to win.
Think of more than 2 players from any of the other teams you'd want to start on yours. Can you do it? I didn't think so.
In the Know, are we bitter? Didn't your team make it to CIF? And it looks as though you don't know much. The majority of San Dimas' girls play club but we also have some really talented players who do not even play regular season soccer. You should come out and see a game. Ill point them out to you.
Observer- You mean "great" compared to the rest of the VVL right? That's not saying much since the league is full of AYSO players. SDHS only has a handful of club players but in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.
San Dimas has great juniors who will be back next year, but don't forget the sophomores and freshman: Rachel Jones, Shannon McKee, Marie DeChaine, and Jeanette Jimenez.
Recap: This team went undefeated 3 years ago. That was followed by Pomona going undefeated. Then last year this team squeaked by for the title. This year the league was very weak. Respect where it's due though. They beat the teams on their schedule.
Now let's see if they can do anything in CIF. That seems to be where they stumble every year.
"The Valle Vista League girls soccer championship will once again belong to San Dimas High School". And with the core of Juniors leading the way next year, and the talented group of jv players that will be making the varsity squad next year league I dont see things changing to soon in the land of "Bill & Ted". A quick shout out to the Seniors awesome job, Ariel and Lauren mad props to you guys, you play hard and play with class way to set the standard. CIF here come....
And tonight those "Glamour Girls" beat Ganesha 4-1 to go 10-0 in league. Pretty good for a bunch of photo grabing cuties.
Los Altos at Wilson boys soccer, can't wait !!!
what game are you covering today?
So the VVL is a very diverse league, and two years ago Pomona girls dominated 10-0. So what is your point?
who cares about high school sports really? just kidding. Just checking up on you and making sure you are still working. LAKERSSSSSSSSSS! you know who this is. No not the girl you met in Vegas. Holla
