The team to look out for in the Glendora Tourney is Murrieta Valley. This team just came of an impressive win against Ayala with a score of 12-1. They have Cameron Garfield who is a projected first round draft pick, Michael Jordan, a sophmore pitcher who lives at around 86-88. They infield is very solid with three juniors and a senior 3rd basemen.
Watch out for MV

watch and see, you will be suprised, no disrespect to cage or the other guys, they are all good high school pitchers

Gonzales???

Cage will easily be the best of the group you listed. He will also be the #2 starter once the season starts. Gonzales will be lucky to pick up a few innings here and there with Plutko and Cage eating up so many innings.

any idea who will be number 1 for softball? i seen Patterson a few times this winter for travel-ball, WOW!!! she was throwing heat! I really think LA should be number 1,they have all of their strong players returning from last years squad! ild like to say my daughters but the truth is it would be a joke! thanks

curious,

plutko needs to live up to the hype, actual results in games is what matters, but your question, they have jr gonzales, jr smigelski, jr cage, jr riley, the best may prove out to be gonzales, and there is a couple more i cant think of right now, cant think of senior pitcher

Ripley - There are ALOT of people who would love to have an option for Catholic school JUST so they could say ADIOS to Andy "Sir Bunts-Alot" Nieto. Maybe next year. Damien should give Amat asst. coach Chris Beck a shot at his own program. I wonder if he would leave AMAT for Damien to advance his career though, hmmm? Maybe someone from Damien should ask him?

Come on - Damien could not do any better than Leyva? I am starting to believe the ink, Damien administrators do not care to improve Damien baseball. Such a shame, there is such potential there.

Since we're "Just Tribbin" about anything I wanted to acknowledge Amat Defensive Coordinator (and former NFL pro) Daylon McCutcheon for pledging $100,000 to provide scholarship assistance to students who can not afford to attend because of lack of resources.
Students must maintain a 2.5GPA, be involved in extra-curriculars, and be of sound character to qualify.

Big props to Daylon for giving back!!!

I keep hearing about all the pitching at Glendora. Who are their main guys besides Plutko?

Official said:

Al Leyva has been name dthe Damien Head Coach. He comes from being an assistant at La Verne University. Before that he was the head coach at Claremont. I see Northview and Amat meeting the championship of the Glendora Tourney. The key will be each team's 3rd pitcher. Pedroza and Rubalcava should take care of business. It will be up to Banuelos to win the 3rd game for Northview. Paez and Zuniga should get wins for Amat. Anyone know who Amat's #3 pitcher is?

Thanks!

Not really, I'll start making calls next week to work on the preview. I have to get through the first and second rounds of all these playoffs first. There's plenty of time, our previews are not full previews anymore, they're top ten stories, so those are the teams I will zero in on to start the year.

just a question said:

Fred,

I know your working your A** off! But, have you had a chance to check in with the baseball coaches and get their take on the upcoming season?
