Hoops Postgame: Chino Hills 41, Glendora 38

Glendora High School's success in big games over the years combined talent with a little Tartan luck.
Karma took some of the back Friday.
Michael Rodriguez scored back-to-back baskets in the final 90 seconds and visiting Chino Hills overcame a nine-point deficit by limiting Glendora to one point in the fourth quarter to score a 41-38 victory over the Tartans in a game featuring the top two teams in the Sierra League.
Glendora had a chance to tie the score in the final five seconds, but Kos Russell's 3-pointer from the left side bounced off the back of the rim as time expired.
Derek Brown had 11 points for Huskies, who took over first place and improved to 20-6 overall and 7-1 in league play. Glendora, getting 13 points from Calvin Smith and 12 from Russell, slipped to 19-7 and 6-2.

Diamond Bar beat Ayala 55-50 @home
Gabrielino is a joke! 23-25, geezenjehoshaphatapedopedoquechonko!
Thank the Lord for Chino if you are Coach Dunn! Too bad Damien can't play Chino every game. They could actually have a winning league record!
Who won between Diamond Ranch and Los Altos? Score?
Basketball Fan. I was at the game with my son right behind the Glendora bench and I can tell you no one on the Glendora team gave it a second thought. The game was extremely well played on both sides and coached by fine sportsmen. I never left my seat and am not sure what type of play,or which at you're referring to - so there's that.
Why make a statement that gives anyone who wasn't there a bad impression.
Glendora's coaching assistants were outstanding but might have missed a crucial, and in my humble opinion vital, substitution of a player that was clearly gassed at the end of the game. Fatigue beat Glendora down the stretch - not anything else.
One think I was impressed with, and they were many, is how well the Glendora played took instruction and rebounded. They were so effiecient and effective in both areas that it's no wonder the Tartans continue to excel with very workman players.
Hats off to both teams. Glendora fans really know their basketball after hearing the people behind us and were tremendously classy.
Let's not ruin an otherwise great night with sure overly harsh comments thatpaint Chino Hills as anything but worthy Sierra League Champions.
Overall a great learning experience for my son. He thought Derek Brown was very good and really trusted his team mates while at the same time being vey impressed with the Tartan "team" concept of all for one and one for all!
Walnut vs. South Hills not even close. Walnut is weak.
I was at the Glendora, Chino Hills game last night. First, thank you to coach Le Duc for taking part in creating fine young men who have integrity. They showed true sportsmanship, they will go out into the world and make it better. I was a little disturbed at the behavior of the Chino Hills players who are not learning that their are consequences for bad behavior. Especially the player who laid someone out on the floor and then taunted the crowd by shaking his head yes I did that and I got away with it. Lets face it Basketball will be over very soon for all of these kids, and then what. It was quite an eye opener to why we have some of the problems that we do with young people who are not learning the important lessons.
Enjoyed the CH/GHS game. GHS should have won the game. Too many missed point blank shots and yes teh pressgave them trouble. GHS is certain;y not deep but they battled as long as their players possibly could.
CH is very well coached. Derek is a stud but Rodriguez came up big at the end.
Remarkable to see the improvement and development of both schools players since their freshemen campaigns.
Great game. Next time I think GHS come thru. Le Duc was his usual self, outstanding. it's remarkable teh job his assistants do during the game.
Thanks GHS for the hospitality!
Glendora was really good, Chino Hills was better.
Glendora has maybe two players who could break into the top six or seven at Chino Hills - so to be successful, they have to play very disciplined defense and patient offense. That was too big of an order against Chino Hills' very athletic and well-coached team.
Damien score ?
Chino Hills - 41
Glendora - 38
Tartans take 9 point lead int 4th quarter and only score 1 point the entire 4th quarter, Chino Hills destroyed the Tartans with full court press. It will be a short ost season for GHS

Both teams are about equal, it will be a good game.
