CCCAA State championships live thread

Mt. San Antonio College is seeking a 4-peat at the CCCAA championships this weekend.

Hi all:
I’m in Fresno covering the CCCAA state basketball championships, where the Mt. San Antonio College women’s team, coached by Laura Beeman, seeks to score an unprecedented fourth consecutive state title.
I will live blog during both the Mounties game against Fresno City at 7 p.m. at Selland Arena, and Pasadena City’s encounter against North No. 1 City College of San Francisco, which is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
Until then, here’s my advance on Mt. SAC’s quest:
The tournament continues Saturday with the semifinals and the finals on Sunday.
I just arrived and the PCC and CCSF teams are warming up as I write this.
I like Mt. SAC and PCC today, although the Lancers have a tough nut to crack in CCSF, which defeated PCC earlier this year.
Mt. SAC has a tough opener as well . Fresno City should get a boost from the home crowd, but the Mounties appear to have a little too much.

Mt. SAC Update:
There seems to be a problem with posting comments, so I will update here.
Mt. SAC went on a 10-4 surge on back to back hoops by Ashley Adams and leads 27-17 with 2:50 left.
Halftime Update: Surniya Darden hit consecutive baskets to make it 27-22 with 1:07. But Adams followed with a putback with 50 seconds to go before Eliza Dy buried an off-balance jumper from 14 feet at the buzzer to give the Mounties a 31-22 lead at the half.
14:29 Update: …And we could have a game on our hands. Mt. SAC pushed the lead to 11 points, but Fresno came right back with a 5 footer from Blakely Goldberg and then a trey from the freshman to pull with in 39-35 with 14:29 left.
10:32 Update: Fresno just won’t go away. The Mounties, on an inside shot from Kuzma, pushed it to nine points at 44-35, but Darden led a 8-0 run with back to back fast break hoops to pull within 44-43 with 10:25 left.
4:51 Update: Mt. SAC pushes the led to 55-47 with 6:16 left following two free thrrows by Brittney Lewis following a technical foul on Fresno coach Brian Tessler. But another Mt. SAC turnover leads to an easy hoop by Darden and its 55-51 with 4:51 left.
1:00 Update:
Blaire Egardo converted a fast break with a layup for a 62-54 lead with 1:54 to play. But Goldberg hit two free throws and KIm Trevino hit a driving layup to make it 62-58 with a minute left.
Final: Mt. SAC 69, Fresno 64
Fresno went into foul mode and Mt. SAC made six of 8 during the final 40 seconds to clinch. The Mounties win their 13 consecutive Elite Eight tournament game and advance to the semifinals, where they will meet San Joaquin Delta here at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
