Was a pretty good game with the score at 2-0 for most of the game... Kaiser was given a few runs due to some mental mistakes but damien brought the bats today and got the hits when they needed them. pitching was still solid. I believe 4-5 of Kaiser's runs were unearned so good job spartans.

Well having said that just make the haul down the 57 and stick to your beloved OC sports and stay out of our business unless you have a vested interest or since you live in Covina support the locals such as NV and Covina or SH and buy into the community.

The SGV can hang in the National Classic. Charter Oak played in it in 2006 & Amat played in it last year & both local teams went 2-2. So NV has a chance to compete this year as well.
Besides with the cost of ttraveling now, most of the teams are from CA. 11 of 16 are CA & only 3 are from the east coast. I think NV will represent.

The boys from Diamond bar's baseball team want to win!
Urban had enough rest and is a work horse, he needs the innings before league, and he would of made the difference in yesterdays game. The boys are confident and playing well together! let's go for every win possible.

El Toro is tough that's for sure should be a great game. Hope Shibley picks his pitcher smart for tomorrow. Coach shibley is thinking only of league at this point.....but the boys want the WINS!

Servite is a very good team! tight infield, and they can HIT. Diamond Bar can play with the best of them! Good luck DBHS!

Tournament champs is nice, but there is only one winner, but you do not make cif playoffs based on that, it is standings in league. A coach trying to get another starter ready for primetime is looking ahead to the big picture: 1. making cif and 2. winning league. What happens if a starter goes down for whatever reasons???? What then?? Better that their first prime start was in a tournament rather than league.

If diamond bar wins against el toro watch out sierra league DB is back “with a vengeance” . El toro is legit with primetime pitching, D1 players and possible mlb draft picks. Enjoy that game and the talent on the field. Should have tons of electricity. Great opportunity for kids to make a name for themselves early on. Good luck against the OC.

Walnut has been playing Pasadena, Rosemend, and other teams in that area. Holf has been moving kids all around. 3 pitchers a game. Still haven't use all thier pitchers. Cruz is looking good at ss. 2nd baseman is gone from last year thank god. Lee and Garcia is killing the ball.
Only lost two player from last year team. I didn't count 2nd baseman as a player.

Half pint, not bad, agree on the coach 100%, he contributed greatly to the 4 hr plus game on a school night. By the way why was the time limit in the program not enforced??? It says no new inning after 2 hr 45 min.????

Trueblue, Regardless of how they get their key players, NORTHVIEW, is flat out an elite team. Their defense is one of the best in socal D1 on down. It all starts up the middle and from MIF TO CF TO C they are strong. Defense, pitching (throwing located strikes), speed, and great unsung players (bottom of order won the game against Bonita) they will compete in the National. If anything they might not have enough starting pitchers to do real well, probably need 3, but they might have something up their sleeve. But Northview manages a 3 man staff better than anyone (2 starters and a closer).

Finally, I am not for transfers after soph yr, especially when the players are elite and have played varsity. BUT, I sure do not mind that a public school is able to attract talent and keep it when competing with the likes of the privates that recruit with camps and all. Oops a double standard, oh well not perfect.

First off I hope you are really not an AMAT backer and just someone trying to stir up the pot. But if you are you really are off base with the division statement and also concerning NV. You state a div 4 title doesn't warrant an invite but our div 5 title did last year. They should be commended for getting invited to the classic not belittled. Do you think them beating us in last years Glendora tourney had anything to do with getting the invite. If you are trueblue then start acting like it and give credit where credit is due and quit acting like all the haters out there because you're giving us a bad rap with your posts. NV is the best team in the SGV as of this point and deservedly so. Be happy that they will rep us in the classic and get behind them as we would wish others get behind us when we rep the SGV in other tournaments . A win for them is a win for us the SGV.

Urban should have pitched yesterday against Servite. Bad call by Shibley. Diamond Bar is hitting the laces off the ball! Great job boys! Don't be surprised if Shibley goes to the bull pen again and doesn't pitch Urban or Mathews. League starts next week and he wants his 1, 2, guys fresh for league opener.

LA with a 1-1 record losing to Don Lugo(current record 3-0) who also beat SH by a similar score. They LA beats Chino Hills by a score of 14-7. Chino Hills destroyed SD 13-2 and beat RC twice (current record 3-1). South Hills ranked 8th San Dimas ranked 9th. Based on the numbers LA should be ranked higher than both these teams.

The issue is that quite a few on this blog blasted Amat on being in Div. 5 last year even though they played a tough non league schedule. Now is seems this year what division teams are in irrelevant.

Trueblue: the divisions do not mean much at the higest levels. Bishop Amat was D5 last year, but do you doubt that they could compete with OLU, Los Al or other D1s? Northview definitely is worthy of being in teh National Classic. You are too hung up on divsions- among the top teams, the skill level is about the same.

Looking at the Loara tournament website I see where El Toro was beaten by Loara and now will play Diamond Bar on thursday. Should be a good pitching matchup with El Toro #1 pitcher vs Jake Urban.

How about those Spartans! I hate to say I told you so, but, winning sure cures all. Caroll looks like a genious for picking up Leyba.... He has to be the smartest AD in the area.. Who else would have the forsight to fire a coach 2 days before the season starts and then go out and hire a mircle worker.... Man oh man....

i have to give credit where it is due. northview passed their first big test of the season. but you northview fans act like your team is in the elite class of teams in so cal. keep in mind that you are a division 4 team. everyone that knows baseball knows you do not stack up to the power oc and sfv teams. but you will soon enough be humbled when u enter play at the national classic. im not even sure how they took northiew. only accomplished teams are given entry and a div 4 title does not merrit entry into this tourney. but you will see in that tournament how your greatness does not extend far out the sgv. but hey congrats! your the kings of the sgv for now. big freaking deal, lol.

Have you seen northview play? No way are they behind the schools mentioned. They do everything well. Dia ranch has tons of offense but I always believed that pitching and defense wins championships.

Northview-Murrieta game was pretty close for about 4 innings than NV broke out and starting ripping the ball. That team is just solid. Happy to see so much strength in the SGV.

Former brahma star Gary Brown after a slow start is on a terror getting 7 hits in the 3 game sweep on the road vs Southern Miss. Tonight Brown had another 3 hit game as the titans beat #3 ranked Texas A&M in college station texas. The titans next head to Oklahoma City to play 4 games 2 vs Ok St and 2 vs Rhode Island. This finished a 11 game road trip. Brown at 3b looks like a natural with his great arm and quickness.

Well Diamond Bar got edged by Servite in the Loara tournament 12-9. Diamond bar coach went to his bullpen in opting to rest Urban and Matthews, nonetheless the Brahmas continue to hit the ball very well.No weak sisters left in this tournament!

So you don't see the need for wholesale changes because your perception of how a team may be before they play 1 game overrides how they play on the field. I'm not saying Amat should drop out of the top 10 but they don't DESERVE to be ahead of Diamond Ranch since DR is undefeated & BEAT Amat (however close the game was). Just like last year when NV beat Amat, NV deserved to be ahead of them. There is plenty of time left in the season for the highly ranked teams to make up ground & that is why it is not right to hold down teams at the beginning of the season based on your perceptions. SH has plenty of time to make up ground but at 1-3 they are NOT the #8 best team in the 2nd week of the season.
Baseball is a sport where even the best of the best usually don't go undefeated. Anything can happen. SH will probably be very good at the end but my point is make them earn it on the field & give teams who actually played well their time in the spotlight.

dont worry tarton fans, coach henly wont let you down, he will find a way to blow it again at the end of league play, as sure as the sun rise

NV would probably be at the same spot.. Amat lost one game and that didnt change anything. That was just 1 game. You need to look at the whole picture.

Check out the Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball rankings, which don't have knee-jerk reactions after a few games. You might have a little movement, but remember, unlike football and to some extent basketball, even the best of teams in baseball are going to lose a few games. The key to baseball rankings, at least early in the season, are a balance of what happens on the field and how good a team, based on talent, is suppose to be, just like Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball do with their rankings.

You answered your own question, basically teams only have played one or two games, I didn't see the need for wholesale changes. The Amat-DRanch game could have gone either way, and in my opinion, Amat is still deserving based on what it has back and where it's ranked in their own Division, No. 2. Same with South Hills, they're probably even better than No. 8, but are off to a bad start.

This poll is brutal. Not that most of the teams don't deserve to be in it; it has to do with how you come to your conclusions. Basically each team has only played 1 or 2 games yet your boys at Amat stay at #2 after Diamond Ranch beat them & are undefeated & are only at #5. South Hills is 1-3 after losing to Don Lugo & Ayala which are not powerhouses & you only move them to #8 while moving Charter Oak to #11 when they lose to a very good Glendora team & then shut out Arizona 11-0.
The poll should be how teams play, not your subjective potential on how good a team may be.

Damien has the arms, but the bats need to come alive. Their pitching has been superb and they haven't gotten through their whole rotation yet. This is going to be an exciting season for Leyva and the boys.
