Boys Hoops: Workman-La Verne Lutheran?

Ok let's set the record straight! I am not affiliated nor have I been affiliated with Baldwin Park. I have a friend who is though. I am not trying to hurt any kid. My concern is the kids that get hurt by these numerous transfers. Nobody seems to think about them. I know the Workman family as well. I know what winning can do in that community. That is great for the community. We all need to play by the same set of rules. That is my point!

are you serious? you really went to cif and tried to get cj denied? wow, honestly, wow. why would you go out of your way to do something like that? why do you care so much about where this kid plays? are you mad because workman stopped scrimaging about baldwin park in basketball because bp would never help the lobos get ready for a season? seriously man, why are you taking this so personal? how about you go to workman and find cj, and talk with him, ask him about why he transferred. i honestly know why, but i wont say it... but if all of you knew, you would get a sick feeling in your stomach.

I went to see the workman team and was really impressed with the community "affect" and "benefit" the boys basketball team had on that economically and socially depressed community.

when my son played basktball and we made the rounds during summer i saw first hand how poorly motivated the fooftball teams were and the institutional apathy that had taken hold at Wilson.

maybe miles and cj and coach flores have, in some small way, helped bring a litle life to that school and community. I sure saw that. who are they cheating?

have your fun looking to bust and out whomever but please don't delude yourself into thinking you're doing anyone a favor or service. Your righteous indignation sir is comical and pathetic seeing as it seeks to punish those who want nothing more than to further their dreams, mainly everyone.

We can argue all day whether the rules in place are fair or punitive in nature but make no mistake the schools and players with the most money and influence make the rules and are punitive when the best players don't play for "them"

Men like you are a common affliction on our free society always telling everyone what to do, how to think and how to get ahead. Don't "it the rules' me when we both know this is personal with you. My question is why my good man do you wish to hurt them while ignoring more obviously schools and circumstances.

When cj and miles leave, or you get your way earlier, workman will not have created a powerhouse and flores will not dominate the sgv like cooper can and will someday. workman will fall back into the shadows and you will be better how?

My question is simple; Workman didn't cheat? Are you aware that CJ played on coaches travel ball team? Oh yeah, I forgot he is not "listed" as the coach. It is not about hate! I have been to CIF. Why do you think CIF denied his transfer? State doesn't care that is why they over turned it. CIFSS had the facts but the state does not care! I have plenty of facts and they have been shared with appropriate people. Do you honestly think that there isn't a good reason why other schools don't want them around? Come on man. The facts have been laid out to the people who need to know. My prediction is that both schools have a better than average shot of big trouble really soon. Seriously, no hate just facts. Fred is right on one thing. Glendora and other "major" programs did or do the same things. Workman and LVL are just the knew kids on the block. I get to express my opinions too. I would love to go back to the days when a kid had to go to his neighborhood school to compete. What a better world we used to live in.

I can hardly wait to find out who Glendora choses to rout in the triple crown and the opponents in the MLK tournaments. Here are some teams that would qualify to be opponents for Glendora. Pacific hs san bernardino,Loma Linda Academy,Redlands Adventist,Arrowhead Christian,any Rialto hs not named Eisenhower,any Santa Ana school not called Mater Dei,and any school in the El Monte unified school district. It will be tough to find opponents as qualified as Ganesha,Colton,or Ont Christian.

My fault lol, well in one word...SOLID!...the difference was catherdal having a bench and workman did not. Catherdal wasn't a team that was going to blow you away from the start. They were really trying to wear them down. Good guard play from catherdal. They didn't care if they were playing against Kobe, they were going to stay in front of Cj and force him into bad shots. May I also add very good coaching.

When they(workman) play as a team and use the *stars* when needed instead of isos or a two man game then maybe they will do damage. But when other guys touch the ball and have no idea what to do with it then we got problems.

I propose that the Tribune sponsors a "King of the Valley" Tournament. Take 16 teams that want to participate and are within the SGV Tribune service area. Seed them according to the previous season. The top seeds 1-8 play at home to start. The remaining games could be held at neutral sites.
The championship game could be at ULV or another large gym.

You (as well as us bloggers) would have an early start to scouting for your All Tribune team. We all could have a better idea of what the SGV top 10 should be.

Do it for the girls as well as the boys.

This could work Fred. It just needs some clout.

dude, enough already. how many more times are you gonna come on here and call workman a cheater, and then try to give baldwin park attention. i'm so sorry that you're baldwin park team can't compete with workman or lvl, but get over it already. how does workman cheat? cj was not recruited, the only recruiting going on was cj recruiting workman. not vice versa.

This does sound good....but with salley coming back and cooper and the overall talent that LVL gots. I think its LVL by 15. If workman couldn't handle catherdal, I doubt they can handle LVL. But who knows, I hope I'm wrong.

why does anyone feell better about themselves by calling these two "non competitive" teams in "weak leagues" ...as you call them...cheaters?

Workman gets one outside player and everyone calls them cheaters, it's amazing. The jealousy just amazes me, with all due respect to Glendora, those are not all Glendora players. You look at any regular power in any sport, and they all have transfers. What a bunch of crybabies.

I have a real easy fix for this. LVL and Workman make it public what tournaments they would like to get into. If the organizers don't allow them to attend, then we the public don't show up to watch. Fred you don't show up to report on it. I have a real strong feeling the organizers will have a change of heart.

Better yet, Workman and LVL can create their own tournament on the same dates as one of the other tournaments. To make this work Fred needs to comment to the Workman/LVL tournament. These tournament directors will have a change of heart real quick when it starts to affect their pocket book.

Good for them. The 2 biggest cheaters in the valley can play against each other. Let's not get carried away with the "best team ever" crap either. Workman in the 80's was pretty good. I believe they were CIF champs. The valley is so watered down that this team couldn't have competed with Butler, Blow and the boys from the 80's.
