Steve Ramirez, take it from here ...
Just when baseball and softball is taking off, I'm taking off for a week. I have to do it, the golf game is struggling and finally, I get a week away from the blog. Starting tomorrow, Stevie Ramirez will take over for a week, it's his top ten's, his games to choose, so enjoy. The boys basketball all-area team comes out on tuesday, girls basketball on wednesday and girls water polo on thursday. Boys and girls soccer and wrestling is the following week. The rosters for the Tribune/Star-News All-Star Classic on April 4. will be released later in the week. Fore!

Since we all enjoy preps sports and would love to see an enlargement of the space, I have an idea.
It's impossible for Fred to be everywhere and report and must depend on coaches to offer information, why do we not take it a step further and offer ourselves as Cub Reporters (no pay of course) for Fred.
IF we could all be impartial in the reporting, we could send Fred a report with pictures and he could, maybe, ask his editor for more space.
What do you think, y'all?

Walnut Insider, DBAR made their fair share of errors to! Diamond Bar just over powered Walnut! It wasn't even close....after 4 innings Walnut had 2 runs? DBAR's outfield was horrible that day! bad reads running backwards than having to run up on easy catches that became doubles. That was crazy. Walnuts over throw from 3rd was the least of Walnuts problems. Walnut has no pitching.

yeah D.B. sure got the better of us that day. Can you really blame the coach when your 3rd baseman throws a routine ground ball into the dugout with 2 outs? That just opened up the gates.

Walnut Insider,
How did you like the Diamond Bar/Walnut game?

been awhile since I posted...but
I think this is part of his "forced furlough". I could be wrong though. I remember Fred talking about how in March or April that he had to take a week of unpaid vacation time.

Bud & Ken,
And if I remember correctly this is Fred's mandated vacation without pay the writers are being forced to take, due to the economic nature of the newspaper business. Not necessarily a joking matter.
Steve?

I certainly have to agree with K.H. I used to enjoy reading the paper with a good cup coffee in the A.M. Now, one sip and I'm done, especially the sports section. As for the rest, it's all doomsday stuff.
Prep sports should be greater and more in depth but fat chance, I know.
I tire off reading about "Manny" or 'Kobe' or some gangbanger killing another gangbanger over some idiotic perceived territory.
There are so many young honest athletes who constantly strive to do their best and never get any ink. No-hitter, homeruns, great careers, signed scholarships etc. go unnoticed, but "Manny" has a sore leg, some football player beats his wife or some player rejects $180 million as embarrassing gets the print.
Maybe, time has come to re-think?

SC looked much the better competitor in the two games they played compared to the pitiful showing UCLA put up against Villanove. Drives to the basket were totally uncontested. Those two 6-10 recruits coming in had better add some pounds or muscle. Finesse isn't going to cut in next yr.

sc fan,
Just because sc won 1 bcs championship they think they are a ucla dynasty...its too bad they cant beat the Beavers or Stanford last year or the BRUINS the year b4 or VY the year b4 that...Face it u cant spell SUCKS without USC

UMMM... SC fan, you do realize that USC had to go on an amazing run in the Pac-10 tourney just to get in the big dance. I mean SC is just happy to get in the dance, getting in the dance is the Bruins annual right. Get a clue!

SC fan,
3 straight final fours! Are you on drugs?
that would be just as ridiculous as me popping off on usc football for not winning the national championship game recently

How bout them lowly Bruins? I love it everytime I see those over-publicized, heartless losers take their annual pounding. Granted, it usually took longer to do it, but by the end of the tournament, they always get hammered. Must taste sour over there to ride their backs and talk all that smack about them being the class of the pac-10 and always getting their butts handed to them

Amazing what you can find just going to "Google"...looks like Pete Marshall had alittle write up dated 3-21-09 about the Mt Sac area schools meeting again April 1 (where it didnt say), with these leagues dropping two proposals each for every to fester over. The CIF website says they will narrow things down with votes in May and a final one in Oct '09. This is for the 2010-2014 time period. Anyone heard anything legit out there?
Posted by: randy | March 21, 2009 5:59 PM
Steve, do you have any info on the CIF changes/releaguing? The OCvarsity.com blog has info on for thier region, what did you and Fred hear?
