Stop asking, track coverage is back!

Covina High School track coach Kevin Glaspy helped us last year provide weekly track leaders and it was a huge success. He sent an email saying he's ready to go again, along with a message for track coaches, athletes and fanatics.

I found a way through Epi Sports to easily come up with the area's top track marks without having to sift through every result. Dyestat as you all know is the track person's everything resource. They have results from every track invitational in the state as well as top marks throughout the weeks. Please let your readers know the following:

1) All SGV top marks list will only be those marks submitted into the EPIsports or dyestatcal database. Do not send updated marks to the tribune or anyone else. Coaches have the ability to submit their weekly marks themselves.

2) Wind legal/aided marks are listed as indicated, as well as the date and site of the accomplishment and athlete information.

Thanks, Kevin Glaspy

Common (NON)sense;

Your kidding right about Rauley's (4) interceptions! That has to be one of the greatest high school performances ever for AZUSA. Covina lost their starting quarterback, because of the hard hitting of the defense! The second quarterback was thrown out because he started punching an AZUSA player right in front of a refree and then he starting acting like a little BRAT when he was ejected! Covina'a third string quarterback, well do I need to say anymore. Covina was never in sync after losing their quarterback. Every play they ran, the quarterback would look at the coach for the next play, THROWING OFF THEIR TIMING.

Well now I can see why your in here trying to critize a school and a player. You said "I didn't sit on AZUSA side of the stands". Well how did it feel to be on the losing side? Well for myself, I had the GREATEST MEMORIES OF MY LIFE! Even Fred, had us losing to Covina, and we showed everbody AZUSA wasn't just a fluke.

You're other comment on "at the end of the day we have the better athletes". Well now i'm a little confuse? what school are you representing, LP, or Covina. Where did you come to that conclusion, because that's too funny. On my previous post, you would have seen ALL THE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP AZUSA WON IN 2008. Where are yours to support the better athletes??? Okay AZUSA didn't do so well in basketball, what do you expect AZUSA to win at everything. I see were you added the basketball program not doing to well, and what was that for? was that suppose to demoralize me?WOW! You also said "We faced two teams with winning records and lost". Those two teams we played we were never blown out! Yes we lost in the second round of the playoffs to Temple City, but AZUSA played hard all the way to the end!How do I know that, because I was at every game.

So don't come in here with your great statistic and try to make yourself feel better, because you sound pathetic and full of...

NONSENSE!

I did happen to see that CIF game, only I wasnt on Azusa's side of the stands. 4 interceptions do sound good, but you must take into account that the first string qb went down, the sencond qb got kicked out. It must be fun to intercept a JV QB BACKUP 4 times in a game. LP didnt even finish off with their coach this year. They are just on a bad one this year. Baseball is looking good, Track is too. At the end of the day, they have the better athletes, and the history to go with it. Is Zaragoza all that, taking his surrounding teamates to CIF with him? Did you forget basketball? Where was he in the dismall program they have at Azusa? Any League recognition? Didnt think so.

Football, you basically faced 2 teams with winning records...and lost both times. Im not saying he isnt good. He has heart too, risking his health last year jumping on shin splints, and possibly stress fractures to get the league title. He has my respect, but he isnt a God.

Common sense?

Okay so you caught my litte error and no need to get up tight, but it doesn't really matter. Win by one point or seconds that's all you need in any sport. Here's a little jingle your probably familiar with, "JUST WIN BABY". By the way, did you happen to see RAULEY ZARGOSA play football this last season?

Zargosa, can play some football, on OFFENSE AND DEFENSE! Did you happened to see him play against Covina in the C.I.F first round play-offs? Rauley, had (4) interceptions!!! Oh yeah, I also forgot to mentioned, that I was in the stands when AZUSA & LP played football! But i'm sure you know the score on that was also! AZUSA had a great year in 2008, so your past championships sound good, but... Don't forget AZUSA is the defending Montview League Champs! Common nonsense, I know it hurts the eyes to read that!

AZTEC PRIDE.

Reasonably reliable rumors that there were Miramonte dual meets this Thursday, one involving Bonita and Los Altos at Bonita. If I remember right, BHS seldom reports track results even when they have pretty good people and relay teams. Not that LA coaches are any better, but that gets back to my belief that ADs, principals or district officials need to make it mandatory that meet or game results must be posted by responsible people on staff in ALL sports. They owe it to their student athletes that their efforts for the schools are reported.

AZTEC PRIDE,

Credit to your MONTVIEW LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP in track. Did you really call it 'MOUNTAIN VIEW LEAGUE'. Wow. Shows what you know. The reality is that Rauley did win it last year for Azusa, but you make it sound as if you guys won by several points, from 5 or maybe 10, where the reality lies within the fact that the meet was decided by a third place finish. Basset 75 has a point on the sprinters. LP does have several premier sprinters on their side. Jacoby Ngyuen has previously ran the 100m under 11 seconds hand time, and 11.010 electric time. While Zaragoza is good, it basically takes that little extra, to be on a good one that particular day. Edward Bonilla came withing 1 in from each of the jumps in league finals. Is he good, yes, unstoppable...perhaps not. I Love the way it plays out this year for both teams, the final meet of the year. After its all done, it basically is going to come down to a Bonilla/Zaragoza battle. Zaragoza has won the league individual title in the jumps, but Bonilla advanced way further than Zaragoza did in CIF, basically showing Bonilla can take the pressure.

Good Luck for both teams, but at the end of the day, I would want to be at the LP stands. They have Ngyuen, Bonilla, and others (Gilmore perhaps??). Azusa depends on Zaragoza. Take the safe bet, and take the 3 time league champions in this one for the men, and the defending 5 time league champion ladies for league.

you may say rauley is good but he didnt do anything in CIF at all he got blown away. Bonilla still looks good and plus LP got them for the last meet and thier sprinter are gonna be fast and thier jumpers are gonna do good and all

Bassett 75.

Okay that's all good, but... will see who wins the overall track meet. Your right about LP having the fastest sprinters, but right now RAULELY ZARGOSA is unstoppable in the long jump and triple jump. Last year, he's the one that won the AZUSA VS La Puente track meet by several points and AZUSA won the LEAGUE.

AZTEC PRIDE!

Sophomore BJ Lee from WC looks real fast in the 100, it was announced that he had a time of 10.5 vs D.Ranch, he pulled up in the 220, I don't know if it was a cramp or a pulled muscle, hopefully just a cramp.
Another standout was Christina Boreman for the WC girls team, as she won several races.

Congrats to Azusa, but LP has the top sprinters I've seen them and you'll see when you guys have your dual.

LP, don't forget AZUSA is the returning MOUTAIN VIEW LEAGUE CHAMPIONS IN:

TRACK!
CROSS COUNTRY!
FOOTBALL~!
BASEBABALL!

OH YEAH, WERE EVEN STRONGER IN TRACK THIS YEAR!

AZTEC PRIDE!

Everyone from the sgv should stop complaining about FRED. In my opinion, Fred does the best job out of everyone. I live in the sgv but i go to school in the whittier area and the sports coverage for track and cross country is horrendous. Someone should tell him to get to his job and do an even share of coverage.

Keep up the work Fred.

LP Track,
"You", Glaspy or Fred, doesn't post them. "They", the LP Coaches, have to post them on either Epi Sports or Dyestat and Glaspy will get them from there. You should be talking to your coaches about why "They" haven't posted for their kids.

A.J.,
The reason you see so many Sophs, Juniors, and Frosh Women is because so few coaches have posted so far. And from my experience, many wont. Why? Go figure.

So when are you going to get LP's stats up here they got top five in mens for 100m, 200m, hurdles, long jump, and triple jump. Whats up with that Fred you got to be more precise on your track coverage

Great, I love the track, now how about swim? Do your job, the size of swim and track teams double baseball and softball teams but so far its jack at the PSN!

Talk about track teams in the 70's Head Coach Robert Nero had some of the best teams in early 70's from C & B teams to Varsity teams. Varsitys Ted Farmer 24 1/4 in long jump, Ray Reeb 6-4 in high jump to C team sprinter Donald Garcia 10.1 in 100yd

Winning state? Winning at a division level will be hard enough and placing at the Masters Meet a great accomplishment. But, state! Real gold medal stuff.

Legend,

You are obviously bitter and fresh out of an argument with someone. Go get a shot of some kind of drink and lay off of Fred dude(ette) if applicable. Be thankful you have a place to blog about our kids!!

Good Track meet yesterday at Glendora High School! AZUSA vs Glendora finally meet and yes, Glendora won, but AZUSA didn't do too bad. There were some good events and RAULEY ZARGOSA, won the long jump and the triple jump! This student is something to watch. Good Job Steven Arceo.

AZTEC PRIDE!

It is notable that so many of the top marks are by sophs and juniors; even a few freshmen and women.

Your historian may be able to reach back and dust off West Covina's remarkable run of league championships, undefeated dual meet seasons and individual performances from '69 thru '79 (or so). A whole string of top hurdlers and jumpers, pole vaulter, really good miler or two, shot putter, relay teams, and overwhelming team depth at all levels. They didn't lose a dual meet at any level for years. Took CIF Frosh-Soph title in '75 or '76. Beat off strong challenges from Wilson in 74 and Los Altos in 73 or 4. See stories in your pages. Tim Brancheau was the coach.

Obom Gwachan of Ayala has 6'8" in HJ and 45'10 in the TJ and Josh Mance of Chino Hills notched 49.31 in the 400. Damien's Taylor Herrera early leader as area's top sprinter.

Legend, you're right, bad choice of headline...I meant no disrespect

Don't forget, Miguel Gonzalez from Los Altos...this kid just ran a 2:03 in the 800 meters at the cal poly bronco invite. This is his first race and should be getting better as time goes on.

Did you really start a thread with the title "Stop Asking"? How about this for a statement for you "Do Your Job" then people ask!

About time the Track thread goes up!! LoL jk thanks Fred!!

Sam Rockwood is a returning State meet finalist from last year in the high jump and the kid from Charter Oak should have a good shot at the triple jump if he keeps improving.

Absolutely, she's not on this list yet, but Diamond Ranch's Dunn is one of the best hurdlers in the state.

Fred
Do you think any of our kids from sgv could make it to state this year?
