The best baseball coach in the Valley? That’s up for debate fellas, this list is tough to call

Above: One of my personal favorites, Gladstone’s Rich Remkus, shown here after winning his 500th game last season.

For fear of having to talk to these guys again (being both serious and joking), I wouldn’t rank the area’s best baseball coaches, I’ll leave that for the bloggers. But just like football, we have some of the best baseball minds around, there is no denying that. In a thread long, long ago, I listed some of the area’s most notable and respected football coaches, and asked the question, with all talent being equal, who would you most want to coach your team?. So, let’s ask the same question in baseball. In no particular order, here are my top ten candidates, but you can add your own as well. Go easy, these baseball guys are a fickle group. They hate the blogs, but I know they read them too …

Fred’s candidates: Tom Quinley, Charter Oak; Rich Remkus, Gladstone; Darren Murphy, Northview; Andy Nieto, Bishop Amat; Kevin Smith, South Hills; John Romano, Nogales; Mike Regan, San Dimas; Dan Henley, Glendora; John Knott, Bonita; Joseph Verplanke, Diamond Ranch
