Championship Week: Los Altos moves closer to Miramonte League league title, beats Bonita, 3-1

I apologize for those comments being up so long, I wasn't checking this thread yesterday and I should have. To those that we're talking about, do you know how pathetic this is? I don't get it, every game I have been to at Bonita the fans are great, friendly, then you read this stuff. And to top it off the team is having a great season and the coach is such a nice guy, he still talks to me after all this. Please grow up, you're the example-makers, not the examples of how not to act. The comments are being shut down.

Yes, Fred, you are 100% correct. This is an issue in every level of every sport. Doesn't matter if it is recreational, city leahe, travel, or high school. Bottom line is that everyone likes to see their kid play. It it always great when its your kid getting the time, and seems so unfair when your kid is sitting on the bench. Realistically, the playing time your kid gets will never make a difference in their life, but what they learn from being part of a team no matter what their place may be on that team, will make all the difference in the world as to what kind of person they become as an adult. This attitude must start with the parents. It's all about persepective. You can learn and grow from any situation!

First and formost, I will never talk about my team or program on a Blog. No offense Fred and thanks for the support. Now Back to JV. If you are truly a jv parent and you have questions concerning the Varsity Team, you can contact me personally. And if you can't do that, then I would suggest you focus on your Daughter and her team. And that goes out to all; If you have a question or feel the need to speak to me, please contact me. But airing out your frustations and naming kids on this blog is in my opinion wrong.
However, I will say that whatever is asked of these young ladies they always give back as much as they can.... Hannah and Amber, you both know how I feel about you, so continue to be the very best!!

This will be the last time that I will write into this blog. Again I thank all of you for your support, these Kids deserve it!!!!

Carly is truly an awesome kid, I cant help but wonder how she could be good enough to start every game until she made the errors against Los Altos, if we would have won that game would you still be punishing her? doubt it, These girls are smarter than you think, do not tell them something if you are not going to follow through if you want them to respect you. Everyone thinks I am talking only about my daughter, I am defending all of the girls in the program, JV and varsity. You said at the beginning of the year that they all deserved better than what has happened in the past, just do what you say you are going to do and not what your "buddies" or your "favorites" want you to do.

WOW, nice one, she did make those errors, trust me she is still paying the price for it, sad for her, sad for you that you have to hide behind some made up name, at least I am man enough to say how I feel and not hide behind "wow"

BTW, this will not become a blog where Ken is asked to answer your questions in a public forum like this, if you want to do ask, address it in house. If it keep up, I will not allow comments at all.

Ken, you don't have to answer that, if parents want to coach and make the tough decisions, then go ahead and coach. This isn't a Bonita issue, this comes up in every sport at every level. From my experience in dealing with coaches, if an underclassmen is equal or better than a senior player in the opinion of the coach, coaches will more than likely play the younger players in order for their development. Is it fair, not always, but that's the way it is.

Bottom line is that new coach is producing. Standings don't lie.

Coach Ken - great post and don't let what is probably just a few parents bring down your program. You are doing a terrific job and the progress you and your team have made is simply outstanding.

Fred - I think it is time for the Tribune to ban / delete negative posts that callout these high school athletes. I know you and the paper are not hitting the send button, but, the paper surely is providing the avenue for these negative comments to fester.

ken, first no one is taking away what you have managed to do with your varsity team you proved all the naysayers wrong. but you didnt answer the question of the century. why dont your seniors, notably carter and bachman play every game? why are their bats left on the bench? yes sure they will do great things in the future but they are in the here & now.this is the end of their high school athletic career. i saw hanna after the game yesterday and was afraid to approach her she looked devastated. is there any point in going to the senior game? these girls are leaving with a very bad taste in their mouths and lousy memories. you can change that.

Ken is right, if you all want to keep blogging, you need think before you hit the send button. This has been a great season for Bonita, why can't you all enjoy and praise the players for what they have accomplished. I don't get it.

I will answers JV'S question; Hannah Carter did a great job that day she and her team played my Travel Ball Team, Hannah if you are reading these stupid Blog's- please don't, but nonetheless, great job that day! Hannah will go on and do great things as she continues to grow.

As for Robert, I'm truly sorry that you feel that way you do. Carly is awesome young lady, no matter what is being said. Carly, if your reading these Blog's, please don't. Nothing good can ever come from them.

For the rest of you, I have asked that we don't do this blog for fear of hurting your own kids. What you think of me is truly and freely your thoughts and last time I checked, I am not Jesus Christ nor am I perfect in any way. I just care about this Sport and more importantly this team.

It is apparent to me that we don't listen, so I won't ask again, nor will I ever support your way of thinking. I will continue to do what is right for Bonita High School Softball and the girls that play for it.

Although and before I end this posting, I do want to go on record and say Thanks to all of you that have supported our program, you have done a wonderful job. And that it doesn't go un-noticed by the players. They too truly appreicate all that you do as well.......

oh so 4 errors in one game you are finished but 1 error sometimes 2 per game on a regular basis and that is acceptable?? carly braveman is NOT leading the team in errors. but she is leading the team in class and maturity.

Please know your facts before your post! I was at the Glendora game, you lost on an error in right field if memory serves me. Also one of your seniors was not there and one of them played. As for them playing on Gold Teams, not true. When was the last time Lady Hawks or Frank's Crunch team played in a Gold National. And Crunch is no longer a team??? And I don't believe Lady Hawks played in the Gold Qualifying Tournament. Butin all fairness to the Bearcats; to imply that the seniors would made a diffrence, I don't see your point. They are all good players and should do very well as long as they all work work together. So please, Let Coach -coach and let the players -play. As for you Parents, just be Parents. That in itself is a very Noble Job. Try and be good at it!!!

Well I can say we all got our money's worth at yesterday game..Great game to Bonita and LA...I think DL did great, she showed a lot of heart,poise,and most important confidence..Hey Bonita's bats didn't show up..it's okay hopefully they will when cif starts..LA hit the ball well, wish they could of executed a little better on the small ball..(squeeze,sacrifice.)But hey they still need to work on some things before cif and I'm sure they will..I think LA is on there way to 4 peat.. league titles..very impressive and I'm sure they'll all be proud of that..as they should..Good Job girls keep it going..It's definitely not over yet!!

You all need to relax again, it's just a softball game. I found it great that both coaches applauded one another, that the Los Altos coach was delighted that Bonita has come so far so fast, and that the Bonita coaches highlight was to compete with Los Altos his first year in charge. Give this all a rest, both teams should be applauded. It was a great three games now wish each other well in the playoffs.

i am a parent of a starter that is not a senior.leave the senior girls alone. they are good ball players and committed. none of this is their fault.they dont need to read or hear about your opinions of them.

three of the four seniors do play travel, gold as well.they dont play at school because they are seniors.no other reason. coach is well aware of their talent.i am actually surprised he has not found a replacement for the LF from his underclassman. so good for her.and it is about putting the best players out there .did you know that the big games bonita has lost like los altos and glendora in the sd tourney the seniors were on the bench? against average teams his starters are fine, against the real talent they cant handle it

You people are incrediable!!! Its always something. Like the stats are really correct in any high school??? As for the Bonita Coach, I know this person and some of you are right he does make some mistake, but I know this, he will be the first to tell you that! But lets see! What did the coaching staff do with all of this talent last year and the year before that and that and so on!!!!!! If your kid is not playing, don't blame coach, rather you should question the commitment level of the player and their skills. At the very least get them into travelball so they can gain more experience, because at the end of the day, it is really about putting out the best players..... However I realize that that is hard for some folks to understand. and to really understand it means to have really been a part of team sports. But back to the Bonita coach, keep speaking to him, he is a fair person at best!

Yesterday was a very good day for the miramonte league, it certainly showed that there are 2 very good teams coming out of this league and heading to CIF. As for the game yesterday, it was a good one however both teams looked like they were were a little off. Both teams had errors and both teams big hitters were not on as normal. But hey; thats how this game goes sometime. This game will always allow for players to step up at any time and be the hero of the day. But nonetheless, "experience" time and time again will always pay off! Los Altos certainly has the experience and Bonita is gaining lots of experience. Good luck to both teams! Now as for all of the backseat coaches that have so much time to write blogs but no time to really coach; I say to you! Keep doing what your doing, because of the things that are being said, your not fit to be a coach. Remember, its easy to sit back and coach
without the actual game day pressure! If you truly want to be noticed then do some thing contructive and stop being so negitive to others, especially Kids.
As for all others; If you had a Mother or Father who had any sense about them, they most certainly said to you at one time or another in your life " If you can't say anything nice about someone, then don't say anything at all"! And for those of you who haven't heard this expression before, then let me be the first to share it with you! Now for those kids who might be reading this stuff, please except my apoligies. that was not a hr, it was a base hit with it getting by the outfielder. i even question fred putting it down as a double. campa rounded the bag and only advanced when she saw it pass by the outfielder.i believe it touched her glove she went down for the ball wrong.if im not mistaken it was an error. but that kid redeemed herself by coming up with an rbi double to put la ahead. good game, i hope all the bonita parents stop this nonsense! its not needed!

hey fredsmyhero,what did the big kid ever do to you?? her 1 at bat lost the game? man you bonita people sure dont like upperclassman.the WHOLE team blew this game.the 9 starters are suppose to be the best in the game.they didnt show it today.including your senior DH. hitting HR doesnt make up for errors.getting base hit doesnt make up for errors.catcher did great job but she isnt hitting. LA is by far the better team, defense & offense.bonita has looked good but not when it matters the most.

Went to see Bonita vs. Los Altos and stood behind home plate and had a great time. Soft ball parents are pretty cool. Talked to Bonita's former coach who was standing next to me and enjoyed a great time talking with the LA's second base parents.

I don't know a thing about softball and that made it real fun and kind of weird. At one point I asked why the pitcher was being being pulled for a runner? The LA dad said that's teh way it is in HS and the cather gets the same thing. When I said "REALLY???" he kindly chuckled. The Bonita Dad next to him had a great time as well. It was nice to see parents from different schools spend quality time talking about a sport they love.

First things first...DP is a freakin STUD!!! She just keeps coming no matter what happens. Talk about a focused competitor. Bases loaded and she's firing away, 2-1 score and all she does is get an RBI hit to push the lead. In the last inning with the game on the line..she's calm as could be. The last bater kept hitting pitch after pitch and hung tough. What does DL do? She turn her back, grabs some dirt and flicks the ball up and strolls back and gets her to ground out to Gano's kid who runs extremely well and has a cannon for an arm.

Overall what's so impressive about LA is their community spirit and commitment to their teams. LA always has the nicest uniforms and just looks like a million dollars...I really respect that!

Bonita had so many chances but somehow things just didn't work out. Saw a little of the JV game and they also have some real athletes. Their pitcher and 1st base are pretty talla nd very athletic so many it'll be Bonita's run next.

Sometimes coach have a group of underclassmen who are just better than the seniors...the key isn't to shut the seniors out. I try and think about it this way..why divide a team when you'll need them down the stretch..either way Bonita looked a little uneaasy at times compared to LA who knuckled down when they needed to.

I'm always impressed with catchers for some reason and both teams had real leadership there.

One last thing...DL's dad is awesome. Reminds me of the way I coach and was taught...he never stops coaching...ever!!! and isn't afraid to yell anything that will help his players. Peopel might think he's over bearing but LA plays relaxed and focused at the same time...and that tells me they like his style. I talked to the HC when he would go back to third base and he was always very gracious.

Great action packed game....that was fun!

where i come from reaching base on an error or a walk is not a hit. bonita too many defensive errors.not enough hits.4 doesnt cut it.not against LA.

lay off the crack AC made a big error in right and k ed out in three pitches the only chance she had to hit if DL was throwing a beach ball man are you wrong here dud do the kid a favor and stop bringer her up.

well lets see liscano only played the best defense of her career,Campa goes yard ok with an error sandaval lead off hitter reaches base twice no one hits behind her,Romero singles and plays good D the only senior hit was a gift from the gods hc 0for9 now against this pitcher the other senior plays for herself and only that huh' she is the 1hit wonder 2 for 30 against DL give me a break go play sick somewhere else lol. The coach did make a lot of mistakes ill give you that and only that.

nice bonita parents, wishing your seniors gone?? you people are a class act. they didnt lose game today. all your "heavylifting" soph&junior failed today.are their parents proud as well??? .well 1 of the only hits today was from a senior.and your cw couldnt get the job done.so maybe bachman was right. she should of been in there. kcw,ur right.they blew it and so did the coach.la was the better team today.better shape up bonita before you get to CIF .

you were right on again today. It was a good game. Both teams played decent but both teams again made errors. They both are going to have to clean some things up before CIF defensively. The Bearcats have struggled against good pitching, but they have the potential to put together big innings. They seem to play better with two outs. Both teams had solid pitching and I thought CW threw a really good game, she was hitting her spots. She got out 3 of 4 times one of the best players around in CG of LA. DP should be MVP, she has taken a lot of crap from different people this year.
I do wonder sometimes the thought process and decision making of the coach, bring up a freshman girl who did not do anything on JV
(over other experienced kids)and bat her in the last inning of the most important league game over other more experienced kids who have faced this kind of pitching. Now she gets a Varsity letter over girls who have been in the program on JV for having one at bat. What is that all about. You had the right batter up in the first place. AC

good to see ya fred .see you tomorrow at the boys game up the st. i really liked watching the girls play. its a team game.you can fill it .softball is so fun to play..great game both sides of the field..that s.s. made all the rouite plays for l.a.she has good balance going after the ball. and there catcher looks like she could help the boys the way she blocks the ball in the dirt..bonita had there chance to take the lead a couple times, but didnt exacute. the boys better get it together soon or ill be back to watch the girls play hard...the whole boys team should come watch the girls and see what team spirits is all about. thanks both teams for a great game to watch, k.h.

Hey Fred there was only one senior on the field for most of the game today.Not until the sixth inning and not sure why that change was made.So not bad for a bunch of juniors and sophomores the Bearcats have a promising future. Hey Fan - who cares if they were profiled in the Bulletin...what is your point. The team is 17-3-1 and they are they are gettin huge contributions from underclassman....Wurst, Sandavol, Liscaon, Spathias. All I am saying there is a lot of junior and soph talent on this team and it makes for an exciting future. Even the most objective observer would have to concede that fact. Bachman and Carter have provided senior leadership, but the underclassman have been just as important. Look up the stats on maxpreps.

Don't know who will win, but win or lose, the turn around at BHS through all the parent drama has been absolutely amazing. Bearcats, you should be proud of your accomplishments. Given the heavy lifting from this team has come from juniors and sophs, next year should be alot of fun and the experience they get from today and a CIF run this year will hopefully pay dividends. Sorry but the coach pulls the strings you win or loose making a decision first,that the players can't control and lies on the coaches shoulders period.

The final score will be Los Altos 6 and Bonita 2. Los Altos is going to come out fighting and put all the questions to rest about how good they are. Now that the end of the season is here and playoffs are around the corner, Los Altos is peaking at the right time. It wont even be a close game.

I have to agree with you that did seem bizarre.HC would have lit that pitcher up if allowed to see more than once but if history serves us correct there's nothing orthodox about this coach and has been lucky on more than one occasion and fyi it was CW's hit that started the game winning rally.

hey i am a firm believer, win or lose it falls to the players.yeah the coach makes the decisions for whatever reason, puts out there who he thinks will do the best job but ultimately it is up to the players to get the job done.and if there are girls in the lineup over better hitters on the bench then they need to step it up.but in my coaching 101 book look at my team,throw my best pitcher bat my best hitters.

i saw your CO game this week and i thought his choice for your DH (other pitcher) was bizarre. if memory serves me she was 1-3.but think we all know it is not always about putting best players in the game.comes down to personalities, who coach likes, parents and players. and yea seniors get the short end alot.coach always thinking about the future.good luck to LA and bonita today.

not sure what games you have been watching these past four years but your coach has been justified with a win.The only big hitter that was on the bench the last time these two faced is 0-8 with 5k's against DL isn't tossup the one who is so infatuated with k's maybe this will inspire the seniors to perform up to there ability.Good for you though with others struggling at the plate I have a strong feeling that some but not all will be in the lineup today.Remember to hate the game not the player!!!!!!go get em seniors and the rest of the Bearcats play your hearts out.

thats crp and chicken sht mixed together if there's a senior on the bench today its because she can't hit DL and probably never will so get over it.

i am guessing if you ask any senior on both teams and they will probably say this is the biggest game of their high school career.too bad for bonitas but chances are most will be on the bench including his big hitters.

That's funny, I totally agree with you on this..I almost wrote this prediction on another blog..you beat me to the punch..lol..3-1 I believe LA will pull this one out because of experience..I think the seniors want this more then ever..I don't know when the last time LA won 4 straight but they have a chance to do it.. I'm sure both pitchers will be strong, I think it's going to come down to the sticks,bunts,steals,ect..a lot of the little things..and the defense has to be on there toes..
