Just Tribbin: Bishop Amat leads pack

Who has the most high school football players at Div I-A or Div. I-AA Universities? With help from the Scouting Guru and our loyal commenters, Bishop Amat leads the way with eight. As many of you know, Spring Football has started in the US with a fragment of the teams just getting their spring football over with. So we decided to take a look around the west coast and some of the U.S. to find our past graduates. Our qualifications were simple. They have to be listed on the roster this spring. Scholarship or walk-on. It doesn't matter. So, let's break down the players by their respective high school they graduated from and see which area HS players are at. If the player came from a junior college it is noted. Remember, we are looking for either D-1A or D-1AA schools. D-II"s or D III's don't count here, and this DOES NOT include players signed still in high school. If we missed someone, sorry, tell us who and we'll add to the list. You can find the list by clicking on the thread

Shut up Canales.

Safety Will Harris will miss the rest of spring practice after he dropped a class and fell below 12 units, which are required to be a full-time student.

joe amat and guru,

any chance you two been drinking at the same watering hole tonight? Lonely fellas?

I haven't read the blog in weeks and of course some of the last two guys to post tonight are you two knuckheads.

I never post and truly am sorry but I couldn't resist after reading you vent some frustration that seriously concerns me. Get over yourselves please but if you can't keep up the comedy routine. This stuff is entertaining. I hope you two already filed your taxes.

Good luck and may the best man win. Get it on guys, go get them!

And do make any clairifcations, I have not been hired by SH and the company is doing just fine. Thanks for your concern.

Don't Rock,

The only thing worse than inept people are ignorant people that complain about the inept.

If you had read the intro you would have noticed that these are D1 players on a 2009 Spring Roster.

The Charter Oak RB you speak of Patrick Fuller left Oregon State last summer and was not on the roster in 2008 - much less spring of '09 (unless he resurfaced somewhere - but you didn't know his name nor that he left school - so I'm sure you have no news for us on that front).

The Punter from CO - Aaron Perez, completed his eligibility at UCLA - therefore HE is not on a roster this spring either.

So now... what was "wrong"?

Then you said, "Just to name a few..." uummm - that was *a couple*, but that's neither here nor there. Maybe YOU have dome your homework and have some additional information than the Guru that you are slamming.

But probably not.

Any other complaints - or are you just going to talk out of the wrong end some more?!?

The Guru is no longer in the scouting business and instead was hired back on South Hills staff. This ploy is just a means of recruiting more athletes to his one and only school that he is loyal to and that's the DAWGS! His failed venture was obvious from the beginning and now this is just "dirty" tactics on his part to try and lure more kids to South Hills! Honestly Fred, why do you allow this man to continue to post wrong information? For instance, I am not a Charter Oak fan but can list several names of players like the running back that went to Oregon State and I think they had a punter go to U.C.L.A. to name just a few not to mention my team Duarte has too many names to just start listing them on this post but do your homework someone, one of you, please! I just hate to see our kids leaving for schools like South Hills instead of staying home and playing for us especially when this is example of what lures them. Inappropriate journalism!

sgvscouting, you are a beauty! No info on Ryan Wendells pro day huh? Thats cuz he signed with New Eng LAST YEAR! Way to stay current with former sgv players!

Jaime as usual your stupidity is only matched by your incompetence and surliness.

You are a hack. Every time I've talked to you I see why you're terrible at your job. That's why you'll succeed. It's a sign of the times that someone who never played gets that close to a coach like Bogan and a program like South Hills and somehow after all your past shenanigans you come away with a job that "judges" kids with actual talent.

Your assessments are wrong, your facts are shoddy and the truth is you know what people tell you. That's not knowledge that's memorization.

Be a man and stop bagging on the SGV and keep your slimey stuff in the IE. Wasn't it you who said you'd "go where the talent is"?

Maybe you'll be at the combines and while holding a stopwatch and clipboard some will believe you are credible but others. me included, will be spending time with our families and living life.

You told me once.."When those people pay my bills I care what they think". Keep to that opinion and don't start believing your own "hype". You lost all credibility when every topic and assessment centered on South Hills when Diamond Ranch clearly had the best talent for the next level this season.

Next time you go to the liquor store read the sign over the counter...

"DON'T GO AWAY MAD...JUST GO AWAY!"

Happy Easter!

Great catch with the two players from Damien and they will be added to the list...

As for the fine gentleman who mentions that our opinion is not good...a great reason why our lists will not be posted on this blog...

Yes, we work both on the Nike Combines, the scout.com combine, will be working at several Pac-10 college football camps this summer and will be in attendance next Sunday at the Nike Camp at USC...

I seriously doubt that you can make the same claim, so, while we'll be working next weekend, I'm sure you'll be on the blog looking for more things to be critical about.

Thanks for the kind words...

Fred:

Hate to tell you, but James is no Guru at anything! Get a new info source next year.

He's watching a combine and will give us his opinions I'm sure. LOL Now that takes alot of education and skill to do!

Some still know better over here!

How about Tommy Hernandez from UC Davis....sgvguru missed another one. He's the only Damien alum who actually starts!

Anyone know what happened to Tristan Turner at Idaho, Dan Miller at Nevada and Brian Malady at SW Michigan? Alex Thompson plays at Northern Colorado?

And who is Joe Smith? Never heard of him. Anyone know what became of Anthony Hile (sierra league defensive POY) and mark mendrun (sierra league offensive POY) and travis eschardise? brad walsh and justin luiten were playing at citrus anyone else?

Once again...

Joe Amat's sword is knowledge.

I'm glad he is a Bishop Amat Lancer!

Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but did'nt our good friend the Guru say that he was done posting things on this blogg not to long ago?

As funny as it sounds, when he was in here last time, he never really did get to many folks from Lancer land to post a whole lot of comments on his threads.

Now he has you guys eating out of his hands because everybody is having football withdrawls.

Yikes !

So, let by-gone's be, by-gone's you say ???

Hum.....ok

No Talent,

You can add Dorian Wells and McBride to that list during those years to go along with Austin, Fletcher, and Gaise (who will also be on the list). Team them up with the kids from this season (Bowens, Price, Seals, Prieto, and throw in kids that left like Sermons and Henson). Mix them with players like Wagner, and Ochoa who will go somewhere.. and... well, you get the point

No Talent, most schools get none per year!

AMAT

only two kids from the list from his two years

Agreed. You know that, I know that, loyal Lancers know that - the rest of the SGV didn't. Now maybe they do. Those kids are achieving and we are back on our way.
Coaching Matters.

To be fair Joe, I think most were disappointed in the performance of the team during the Verti era with so much talent on those teams. It is pretty sad when you look back on it.

Earlier I had stated that Gener kicked at Louisiana Monroe last season as a junior. Gaise signed with them, and should be their in the fall, but isn't there for the spring -so he doesn't count towards this list. But let's revisit in the fall and the numbers will go up even further. And you're right.. these were the years the SGV was slamming the Lancers for being "down" and not producing anything.

Gaisie for BA is at Washington and Tillis for Los Altos is at Hampton.

BISHOP AMAT

What about dominique Gaisie? What's his status?

Where is Gener on the list

I love how Amat not only gets kids into college but gives them the tools to keep playing and going to school. And these were down years!

BIG DREAMS OF BIG SCHOOLS

THIS IS STEP 1.

One more from Damien

Daniel Harper-USC

you'll find it right here if you cut and paste the following into your address bar:

to be respected you must not only play the respected but beat the respected.

And since I am a nice guy, we checked with nfldraftscout.com and Brett Lockett has a chance to get picked up in free agency at the end of draft weekend. His stock is rising after a terrific pro day at UCLA in which he ran his 40 in 4.45, did 36" on the vertical jump and hits 19 reps at 225 on the bench.

We have no pro day info on Ryan Wendell.

And to followup on the point that there were six players from the Will Harris' class that signed. Who are they and were are they this spring? Clearly, they are not playing football!

And CO didn't sign a D-1 player this year. And we looked very closely for the CO players.

diamond bar,

The original post read,
"Our qualifications were simple. They have to be listed on the roster this spring. Scholarship or walk-on. It doesn't matter."

Lockett and Wendell graduated, therefore they are no longer at a DI school.
Kansas Weselyan is an NAIA Division II school.
have not heard of a Ikenna Udoh signing.

other Diamond Bar players
-Brett Lockett (UCLA)
-Ryan Wendell (Fresno State)
i believe Wendell signed with the Patriots not too sure
-Adrian Thomas (Kansas Weselyan, i dont know if its a D1-AA or if its lower )
-Ikenna Udoh was a MT SAC but i dont know where he transfered to. He started so im assuming he maybe went to a D1 or D1AA

For what it's worth, several of the AZUSA AZTECS players are now practicing with the Citrus College football team doing spring drills.

Citrus College is in the middle of doing a lot of remodeling.Their football practice field is great!

AZUSA has many departing seniors this year, and it's going to be real good to see them at Citrus College playing again. I believe they play on Saturday's, in the afternoon and it should be great to watch.

Jason, La Verne and Redlands are DIII schools. The criteria are DI and DIAA schools.

Look at the Muir last, if they only had coaching, they would have added four or five more CIF championships to their collections.

wow you forgot soo many other from charter oak...

johnny crespo: la verne
Andrew carreon: redlands
Brian Hunter:northern Arizona

and from Will harris class.. 6 of them have signed so that clearly is way more then anybody else

Not to mention all the guys from this years team..

Where is Los Altos in all this.???? I couple of years back they talked like they had the best going on to college and the pros. Now they have a pop warner team fighting for spots on their varsity team.

sgvscouting,

You might have to... uummmm...
change the headline too !:?)

Good work!

My apologies Almighty Guru! I had NO idea that this free forum had no place for others to add info to spice up some conversation.

Btw, next time you want to exclude folks, simply state it somewhere in the thread....jackass!

Joe Amat - I checked the west coast only ...I didn't know that I'd have to check all 100+ D-1 schools in the US to find Amat kids?? (Lol) Hahaha.

That's find and I will add. Hey, I'm having fun with this.

Thanks!

Kicker Jeremy Gener Amat '06: was a Jr at Louisiana Monroe via Mt Sac so he has 1 more year.

...and is Dorian Wells split 2/3 Amat - 1/3 South Hills !:?)

Sorry. West SGV doesn't work here. Sorry

Always trying to be No.1 at something. You've really gotta learn how to let things go.

Always trying to be No. 1 at something.

Here are a couple of Muir guys:

Tom Njunge (Arizona St.)

Tyler Roby (Univ. of Toledo)

Ricky Garner (Wisconsin)

Ryan Graves (UCLA)

Breyon Williams (Idaho)

This year's signees:

Reuben Thomas (New Mexico St.)

Marcus Graves (Univ. of Idaho)

Myles Campbell (Stony Brook Univ.)

Tyree Mills (Stony Brook Univ.)

My error, looked on the wrong website. Soto is on the roster and thus will be added. Thanks!

Thanks for catching the Diamond Ranch players. I have no idea how I missed them. I will add them onto my list. I never said I was infailable.

As for Bishop Amat's Rodriguez, I have verified that he is on the roster and he will be added. However, Soto is no longer listed on the roster and so he does not count right now.

If you think of any other players that are not on the roster, let me know.

As for the user that asked about College of the Desert...well I think if you asked the Mt.SAC guys, they will be more than happy to vouch for the quality of football at the school. They really pushed SAC big time this year.

Hope to see you at the Combine this Saturday or at the Arcadia meet Saturday night.

Hey Guru
What is college of the Dessert? Does that count.I think your kind of reaching for it with that school?
