I totally agree with you Let the Kids play. However, it is the parents who place their kid on a pedal stool, especially, if a freshman makes it on the varsity team. God forbid that the kid plays with the freshmen squad. They think that their KID is the second coming. Well, I know Easter is around the corner. Could it be the chocolate eggs? I just got a call that there will be an Easter egg hunt on Covina’s varsity field. Hey! It’s a lot more fun than playing ball. No one loses. Good night

Diamond Bar 17 Covina 1

Some of the comments about these kids are way to serious.we, or some of us seem to forget these are Teenagers ,high School kids. This is suppose to be a fun and exciting time in their lives.Let them play and have fun .We all know a very small percentage of these kids will go on and play pro ball, minor league ball, let alone even play in college.I remember a few years ago being at a game (I wont mention the team, but they are one of the top ten teams this year, but they were terrible then)The coach was yelling at the kid to have some guts for a change and get a hit.He struck out.His dad told the coach that wasnt called for get off his back and the coach right there said your kids a lousy ball player. No wonder the kid struck out.coach was let go after season.the bottom line is these kids have four years to have fun and enjoy their high school experience. After that they have to go out in this crazy world with all the problems and try to get an education and earn a living.Lets not take this to serious.Let them enjoy this where ever they "PLAY"

Five Pack..!!

My bad, you got me in my haste to post.,ABC 123.. ok I'm good now.:)

Diamond Bar will bounce back and play some good baseball. Coach Shibley is new and learning the ropes. Is he going to make mistakes? yes he sure is. Diamond Bar baseball team will pull together and slug it out in Sierra league. As far as the boys go they all respect eachother and get along well. Brahma baseball will do just fine.

DB parent,

Stay positive! there's enough outside sources that try and bring Diamond Bar down we don't need one of our own doing it. To trash the players is not cool at all.

Rock Day you Rock!!! Next time click on spell check “brilliant”
Back to WOW, I wouldn’t my kid playing for a high school where if you don’t excel as a sophomore, you stink. I hope the Colt players are not reading this blog. What a boost of confidence for this program. Here’s the headliner for Covina’s 2010 team.
“If your not on var as a soph at covina your not that good period!”

Go Colts!

Wow..?

What are you talking about.Along with these other bloggers.,learn to write.,its bad enough to read about Covinas briliant inner workings,or how you put down ball players.,to lift up your own.! Before you write think of what you want to say.,P.S. you all need group therapy.,.can't we all just get along..!! :(

josh leyland is hands down the best player in the sgv

First you rip teams like BA and in the beginning all i heard was parents talk about how "the little one" was playing an unproven Frosh and the upperclassmen deserved a shot - Now you see what the kid can do and BA is winning so you all move to Covina and how they have several Frosh players on the team. Really? Covina is not BA, they dont have 100 kids going out for the team. Have you seen the JV teams that last few years? you cant blame the coach for thinking about the future. I remeber in begining when there were a few kids trying their best but they were not Varsity level ballers and the dad (looked like the lead singer from Los Lobos)pulled them out because of playing time. They played JV when they were juniors, like the other blogger mentioned if you cant make Varsity at Covina by the time you are a Soph something is wrong. please take the daddy goggles off and have fun with Pony ball. Aqui para la...

Fred, Fred, Fred. You deleted DBar Soph Dad's comments when he used only the coaches name? I thought you went after guys who used players names and bashed them? Who was the losing pitcher against Charter Oaks? Where was his star player? Why was he not at the Chino Hills game or this tournament? DB has problems...everyone was praising the coach early and now that there is critisism you delete the post?

WOW, If your not on var as a soph at covina your not that good period!
WOW..I have to disagree with you.
NV CIF title run started when their 5/6 freshmen played as freshmen. All moved up to varsity as sophomores’. All gained experience AND maturity.
Amat’s title runs have been with juniors and seniors, with the exception of this year. WOW…then Amat is doing something wrong with their freshmen and sophomore class.
But I guess you are right, only at Covina can freshmen experience replace juniors and seniors. By-the-way….did any experience juniors and senior’s players walk off the field because of this? I tip my cap to these unfortunate players.
I rather take experience and maturity…..this is going to be a long season for Covina.
I hope this is your philosophy “If your not on var as a soph at covina your not that good period!” and not the coaches. Good luck on trying to get quality players to play at Covina. NV is always down the street.

Now your ripping covina but you have 2 soph that played over your soph and Jr's from last years team as freshman. What does that tell you! well it's that your soph or jr's from last year aren't that good. This years team is made up of 5 freshman,3 sophs, 3 Jr's and 4 seniors. 3 of the 4 seniors weren't on Var last year. If your not on var as a soph at covina your not that good period!

I just deleted all those comments, I don't have time to babysit kid parents going back and forth. Grow up.

That's absolutely right, it wasn't Diamond Bar's pitching at all. They had four errors and three in the eighth inning alone. In fact, Charter Oak sent nine players to the plate in the eighth inning, and the only hit was a grand slam. If Diamond Bar makes routine plays, they win easily. You can't blame the pitcher, he did his job.

Just read the article in the Tribune about the Charter Oak/Diamond Bar game. Diamond Bar again beat themselves with errors. Sounded like the soph. pitcher did his job ground outs that turned into errors. Diamond Bar's down fall isn't their pitching it's their defense. How many errors were there Fred?

I deleted that comment because that name was never used, if you want to quote soph dad, that's fine, otherwise, it's coming off.

Correction...Six "freshmen" players for Covina, not sophomore.
The sophomore players have earned it.

Out of the six sophomore players playing for Covina, there is only “ONE” that should be on varsity. The other five should be playing for their freshmen class.
All played a freshmen tournament, none dominated.
Like someone wrote below. “Coach’s buddy need to stay out of the coach’s business!!”
Just keeping it real….Randy’s famous quote.

bhs,

Danny Tiffany started and went first four followed by Kyle New. Michael Hernandez finished the game and made a nice defensive play to end the game and get the W.

Here are the latest D2 coaches poll.
1. Yucaipa 12-0 returned from Tenn with a USA High title and now in San Diego in the Lions tournament. Won yesterday beating Green Valley with Matt Davidson hitting a 3 run home run.
2. El Toro chance to make a statement in the National Classic next week.
3. Crespi
4. SO Norte Dame
5. Palos Verdes
6. Upland plays a typical weak schedule to get wins.
7. Arcadia
8. St Francis
9. SLO
10. Vista Del Lago

no sierra league teams in the top ten as the league has no dominent team and winner may end up in league 9-6 or possible 8-7 with a 3 way tie. I have not seen who pitched for D-Bar in the last 3 games. Max prep not updated. The brahmas give up way to many runs with loose defense and lack of a 3-5 pitchers.

anyone know who pitched for charter oak?

what you thinking..!!

you said it but not bribes., more like coach is not in charge..no not hating just triping @ fools.,covina will be losing for years to come the AD and his travel team.,coach buddy, need to stay out of the coachs buisness..!!

Way to go Chargers..!!

Play hard @ Mavrick...

Big Daddy ..

Don't sweet Covina will always have something to talk about .,like loosing A good coach like Merril.,like getting bad coach's Loiza and Chris .,ect.,ect., loads to talk about.,

fred the blog. is the blog. but people going out of there way to crum on a player .thats not cool, because if you every played the game, then you know at some time your going to make mistakes.part of the game, skriking out part of the game. most of the people taking shots at the kids are non players or want to bees,, its not the first hr for the big player from.s.d. and not his last either. hes a big stronge kid i saw him up close at am.pm last week..so who ever taking a cheap shot at cage,,what a joke, cage is a class kid with alot of baseball in his future.comes from a good stronge baseball family and is being coached by a lifer baseball man, so fred i think you know everybody who blog. bye email..if you talk personally about a player, your out.

Fred:

Here's an impressive stat for you!

Josh Leyland from SD hit another bomb today which brings it to (7) seven leading entire Southern Section and maybe California while hitting a cool .667+.

If he kepts it up, might be MVP candiate!!!

Hey Covina (pete), turn on your sprinklers and work on your field next time it is used for a tournament.

Cage did a great job today except for one mistake (he made it through 5 innings), and Leyland made him pay dearly for that one mistake. Great game to watch. Ponzo and Slover did a great job too. This one could have gone either way.

Nice start for San Dimas this year ... good to see the bats are alive and well...better than last year when they were silent ... yeah the errors hurt them - they had that problem last year too. But overall, Go Saints - they should win out in the Valle Vista league.

Glendora 8 ..San Dimas 7. 10 innings...great game!

Sorry basebal fan your prediction was way off. San Dimas earned some respect today. Ponzo stepped up to the challenge. He pitched 7 innings with 7 K's and 7 hits. Cage on the other hand was taken out, I beleive in the 4th.

Errors was key for San Dimas loss. I counted at least 5, kept Glendora in the game early.

Josh Leyland hit a towering Grand Slam to put San Dimas up 5 to 3 in the 3rd. nning.

With everybody in the San Dimas squad hitting today, Brent Slover relieved Ponzo and did a great job of it, however lost.

Great game Glendora, good luck the rest of the season!

Hey Baseball Fan,

I think your boy Cage got hit pretty hard today. I think one of his pitches went over the fence and street and landed in the parking lot for a grand slam. I think your prediction was a bit wrong. Sorry!!!

y u hatin on the freshmen that makes up the varsity team over at covina -- they are better than the upperclassmen or loaiza wouldn't play them -- who could possibly influence a coach that much to start 6 young kids -- come on people -- no coach unless he's taking bribes is that influenced.

glendora 8 san dimas 7 10 innings.

Nord-Ansicht Turnier so far:

For sure Diamond Bar had the toughest row to hoe with Sonora and rolled them up by seven runs while pounding an over matched South Pas team. Covina gave the guttiest performance with wins over Montebello and a pretty good La Serna crew. Charter Oak beat up on Walnut and poor Del Oro who are facing a looooong bus ride back to Loomis while Bonita performed as expected, painfully extracting 28 runs from Santa Fe and Pasadena.

Tonight, tomorrow, and after that:

I think the team with the most Pitchers still available, (and the most time to rest after the tourney), has the best chance. Bonita probably has the most pitching left but figures to use one of the Seniors Friday against Los Altos. The Colts, Chargers, and Brahmas all figure to have tired arms so they'll probably be digging into their defense for pitching with the good news being none of them have to go again before next Tuesday. The really bad news for DB is they are in a five team cat fight for the Sierra League and have a Tuesday/Thursday against Glendora next week. C O, on the other hand, has until the 22nd to rest.

Advantage? Probably to the Bearcats; but what will really matter is what's more important to
Diamond Bar: the tournament or the Tarts next week. Bonne chance.

Congratulations to Chris Allen of Charter Oak soon to sign a letter of intent to play baseball at cal state northridge next year. fine athlete their going to get.

Prediction:

Glendora's Jacob Cage shuts down San Dimas today in the Arcadia Tournament.

big daddy - you have to wonder how HORRIBLE those other two teams were that Covina played. Covina is flat out HORRIBLE this year. Have to say after seeing them play, if i were a junior or senior and these young kids were playing ahead of me even after losing as much as they have and getting beaten badly at that, i would be pissed off as well. can't figure that one out at all. i get the future wants to look bright for loaza but that just ain't right.

Looks like Covina will something positive to talk about this season.

ARCADIA TOURNAMENT
