Damien pitched the young lefty, Gonzales, game 1 vs Azusa. He did well with 5 innnings of work and I hear he may get his first league start with Amhrien on the mend. We need to shore up the rotation with back to back league games starting this week.

Bearcats sweep the cupcakes (Santa Fe Springs, Pasadena) but tomorrow's game vs COVINA will be a good one. MIER is a beast and deserving of Rawlings, PreSeason All American status.

Here are the scores as reported by the SBSun.
1. Game 1 Azusa 1,Damien 25
2. Game 2 Azusa 3,Damien 8
Another interesting score was Yucaipa winning the USA High tournament in Tennessee beating Arlington,Tenn 10-0. Matt Davidson was the winning pitcher with a 1 hitter and 11 k's. Cody Meservey hit 2 home runs for the t-birds. Look for Yucaipa now 11-0 to be the top ranked team in D2 next week. Davidson was the ace of the Yucaipa staff his frosh-junior years and now the closer and #3 or 4 starter. The only team in the CBL that can beat Yucaipa is Redlands East Valley which was a finalist last year losing to El Toro.

In the USA High Baseball Classic Yucaipa will be playing in the title game tonight after winning games vs teams from Illinois,Kentucky,and Tenn. They are 10-0 and I think the best team in D2 with 4 solid pitchers and a good hitting team led by Matt Davidson(USC). Davidson is an outstanding pitcher who this year has become the closer and may pitch in the championship game. Yucaipa is 2-0 vs the sierra league beating Damien and Chino.
