Baseball: Area leaders and rankings

With one big game today, Chino Hills at Damien at 3:15 p.m., I thought it was a good chance to show where everyone is ranked now that we have reached the midway point. The shocker is in Div. II, with the Sierra League shutout in the rankings. That should change, I mean, they have Arcadia and St. Francis ranked, but we know Glendora proved to be the best of the best in Arcadia's own backyard for the second straight year. The race in Div. IV is on, Northview, San Dimas, and Bishop Amat all in the top five. How far will Bonita fall after losing again this week? I also posted the area hitting leaders, or should I say, the few leaders that coaches report to MaxPreps. San Dimas' Josh Leyland is an absolute animal, his numbers are off the charts.

Joe Amat tipped me on to this feature at Maxpreps. What I did was localize it for us this way you can look at the area leaders, standings and check schedules of our local teams. Please coaches, update MaxPreps and you will all be included...Do you love this or what? To get baseball, just click top right corner

That tradition use to include coaches faxing in their stats on Monday, but they don't do that anymore. But we will post what we have anyway.

Fred,

That would be great. Putting the leaders in the newspaper is a great tradition that you guys have gone away from. It will be great to bring it back. Thanks!

I took it off because it was redundant, if you like, next time I will post leaders here and next week we will start posting them in the paper.

Fred,

I know you can get leaderboards on MaxPreps but it was cool when you had the baseball leaders listed here on the blog. I'm in favor of you posting the leaderboards once a week or so. Why did you take it off after a few hours?

Wow Spartan Fan...spoken like a real coach at a press conference.

Damien will definitely need to work hard to make playoff with their Jeckyl-n-Hyde performances this year. Man, hope Whitehouse stays healthy!

PS- let's clean up the parking lot Spartans. You don't need that MESS around the program!

Spartan Fan,
I am feeling you brother. When it comes to other SGV schools it is pride and confidence in your team. When comes either AMAT or Damien it is cockyness or arrogance. Stay strong and hold your ground.

Daimien 8 - Chino Hills 16

Mr. Class and Mrs. Stay Healthy,

We started with class and we will end with class. Like any team we have hit a bumpy road, but we will endure. I have always and will continue to highly praise our Spartan kids & coaches and have stayed away from bad mouthing others(coaches or players). We play in the toughest league in the valley and maybe one of the toughest leagues in So.Cal. and yes, we will battle for the Sierra League Championship and will make CIF. That is our mindset and that's what sets us apart from others. It is pride, not arrogance there is a difference. We win with class and lose with class. Not once have I made excuses for losses, but when we win I praise the kids and coaches. So bash and nit pick all you want, you won't sway this Spartan Pride. Wether it's our backyard or yours, everytime we take the field we expect to win, not because we are the best, but because we play to win. Don't ya love it! God Bless and stay healthy.

GO Damien!

Spartans, you sure were acting cocky and arrogant. Now give it a rest. You don't see anyone coming on here trashing your team or players. Return the favor and show some class when it's reversed.

Chino Hills 16, Damien6,

Where are all the Spartan Blow hards? We are the best! They got their A** kicked in their own back yard. God Bless & stay healthy.

well i knew when nobody blogged on here from damien all night that it wasnt looking good for a spartan win. Chino hills blows em out and that makes yet another blowout loss in league. Good luck the rest of the way

Sounds like a broke back moment to me!

Thanks Joe, I should put you on the payroll. Too bad we can't do this for softball..This feature will be fantastic during football season.

"a commentor"? I guess anonymous love is as just as good for "anonymous" posters!
Way to get on it Fred - this is great!
Thanks.

Glendora BEAT Arcadia who is ranked 8th in D2.

GREAT WIN TARTANS !

Fight On

good point fred,

about the sierra league being out of the top 10 rankings... i mean Damien and Chino both played #1 Yucaipa and both barely lost 3-2... damien beat themselves on two costly mistakes that allowed two runs to yucaipa and chino was beating yucaipa till they started a rally for three runs late in the game.. but sierra league teams will make it in there at some point in the season.

Hey Fred,

In conversation with some MaxPreps folks (Good peeps!) they pointed out a feature I hadn't seen before. Take a look at

http://www.maxpreps.com/widgets/createwidget.aspx

It would allow you to create a widget to post on this blog that will compile Statistical Leaderboards, League Standings, Team Schedules, Results, and Rankings for all the schools in the valley. Do this once and MaxPreps will do it for you from there on out. It would be a great resource for all of us to do our "one stop shopping" for all the info.

Check it out. It could save you some time and let go out and hit a few... or just watch on TV!

South Hills just got done beating both Div 3 #1 team, Beckman 6-3 and the #10 team Corona Del Mar 17-3 in the Beach classic. They are now 10-5 against a solid schedule. Slow start but they are starting to roll.
