Sierra League: Predicting the unpredictable, Damien, Glendora, Chino in a fight to the finish

Glendora (15-7, 7-5) threw the first stone earlier in the week, knocking off league-leading Chino (18-6, 9-3) on the road 3-1, setting up today’s showdown at Glendora. Another win and the Tartans move a game back of the Cowboys with two to play, and would own the tiebreaker if the two finish tied at the end of the season. Taking advantage of Glendora’s win was Damien (18-5, 8-4), who moved a game back of Chino with Tuesday’s 4-1 win over Diamond Bar (11-11, 5-7). Damien hosts Diamond Bar today, and can move into a tie for first with a win and Glendora win, which would set up an exciting final week. Can you imagine if that scenario comes to fruition, you would have Chino and Damien tied going into a home-and-home series next week, with Glendora playing last-place Ayala. Glendora owns the tie-braker over Damien, so if all three finish in a first-place tie, Glendora goes to the playoffs at the No. 1. Everything, however, depends on what happens this afternoon.
