Sunday Tribbin: As far as predictions go, this was a classic from our very own Art Wilson
Anything and anyone you want to talk about. I'm accepting athlete of the week nominations

Art Wilson knows his horse racing, he really does, but this was a classic prediction that we will tease him about for a long time. Here is how he started his column on the Kentucky Derby.
Here's the first thing I did while handicapping today's Kentucky Derby - I took out a black pen and drew lines through five horses. They have zero chance. Zilch. Nada. My 14-year-old Labrador/Shepherd would have more of a shot, and he doesn't get around very well anymore. The Five? Mine That Bird, Join in the Dance, Atomic Rain, Nowhere to Hide and Flying Private. If you're planning to bet win money on any of those 3-year-olds, do us all a favor and just make out a check to the charity of your choice right now.Save yourself the anguish of rooting for a horse that might be lucky to finish before NBC signs off. Of Course, Mine that Bird, the 50-1 shot, won it. What's worse, his prediction or mine that Hatton would win?.

Bill, now there's a name from the past, hope all is well with you. You know Jack, if someone beats him, they must have cheated.
I like to say congratulations to AZUSA High Schools Track team for winning the Montview League title Back TO Back. Great job to all the coaches and for taking the sport very serious! Most of the students had spring break off, but not the Track team, you had them practicing early in the morning working HARD and it paid off!
Great job today at Bassett, for the prelims AZUSA athletes! Rauley Zarogoza, 1st place in the long jump & triple jump. Steven Arceo 1ST place 100m run in the third heat.
Good luck to all the athletes on Thursday, for all league honors!
Go AZTECS!
Hey Fred,
Remember when I took over the racing sheet and got to make picks under your name? And when I was in first place after Oak Tree - knowing little to nothing about racing, Jack Karlik called me up and chewed me out for stealing his picks.
Of course, I responded that if I was stealing your picks, how come I was in first place?
Hope all is well at the Trib.
Bill
Fred,
I was watching our BP softball team on Friday. I would like point out that 32 from Covina all but whipped our butts by herself. She had a couple of homers and played a really great game. I give our grils props for hanging in.
GO Braves!
Great job to the Los Altos High School Boys Varsity Track and Field, for winning the Miramonte league, going undefeated in the process and giving Diamond Ranch there first track and field loss since the school opened!
Bishop Amat Wins Redondo Baseball Tournamet: With an impressive 15-0 win over South Torrance High, Bishop Amat went undefeated in the Redondo Baseball Tourney. The Lancers collected 16 hits led by shortstop Josh Genzuk with 3 hits and 2 RBIs and First Baseman Adrian Franco with 3 hits and 1 RBI. Catcher Jerry McClanahan continued his hot hitting collecting two hits, one being a towering home run to left center field driving in 4 runs for the day. Center Fielder Mike Rodriguez also had two hits driving in 2 runs. But the real story of the day was Justin Grijalva's pitching performance. Grijalva pitched 6 near perfect innings allowing no runs. Anthony Cuevas came in to pitch the 7th to close the door. This was a good warm-up for the Lancers that will face their rivals St. Paul on Tuesday in an important Del Rey League game.
I did cover horse racing for about five years, but that's besides the point, this is just poking fun, I poked fun at myself too for thinking Hatton was going to win. Does every reaction have to be so serious.
Aztec, when it comes to track, we cover the Covina Invite, Arcadia, Mt. SAC and SGV Invitational, and next comes CIF, Prelims and Masters. We don't have the manpower to cover all the league finals and league dual meets.
I wasn't aware you were a horse racing person, since I have never seen you write about the sport in this venue. This leads me to think that you are having fun at a colleagues expense which is fine. However my one thought is would you have afforded him kudos here had he picked the winner? I think not. Perhaps it's best to simply write about items that you think you know about and leave the "professional sports" for others to cover.
Fred,
Is it asking to much to place an article on who won their League Championships in TRACK??? Fred you know where i'm going with this!
AZTEC PRIDE!
You're spot on about that! That was vicious wasn't it?
Wilson's prediction wasn't as bad as your Hatton comment. I paid 8 bucks a minute for that fight!!
