Finally a blog that didnt contradict it self, amazing writing. :)
Damien Wins!!!
Hank Hill I hear what you're saying but Damien's ace was behind 3-0 before the bats came alive. Whitehouse and big hitting has carried this team? and might not have won that game without Whitehouse. Look what happened when he left the game? There is very little Leyva can do, other than Mark Garcia who else is reliable? Last year was last year. I'll be at the game cheering them on win or lose. Traffic's going to be tough so leave early.
This playing wild card games for most of the 2nd place teams and all of the 3rd place teams means managers must access their pitching and look ahead in the schedule. This does give a big advantage to the 1st place teams and makes winning league important. I see where REV the #2 CBL team was playing a weak wild card team in Pasadena. The REV coach elected to use ace lhp Jeremy Perez who pitched a no-no vs Pasadena and now #2 pitcher Griffin Murphy will be facing Glendora rather then Perez. Damien playing a weak #3 team out of the CBL used their ace(White house) vs AB Miller. Now they will face #4 seed Palos Verdes with their #2 pitcher.
Well lets see if Damien can finally get out of the first round. It's been a decade for this 'juggernaut' of a program. I can still remember hearing about baseballs being pounded in the first inning up at Santa Barbara last year. Damien, try getting out of the first at least today. My predictions for Sierra today: Damien 4 Palos Verdes 5, Chino Hills 4 La Mirada 9, Glendora 5 REV 4, and Chino 2 Huntington Beach 3 (upset special) Sierra goes 1-3
Glendora will lose to REV by a score of 7-3. Palos Verdes will beat Damien 7-1. Chino Hills will lose 5-3 and Chino will win 10-3.
Hey kevin donald,
Let me know where I'm wrong here. I thought these "predictions" were about who Fred thought was going to win. And to that end, doesn't one take in all kinds of factors including where the game is being played?
Hey Fred,
Would your predictions be different if they were about who you wanted to win?
Hey Fred,
Way to go out on a limb with your baseball picks. Out of the 18 games you chose only 1 visiting team to win.
Wow, picking 17 of 18 favorites, you sure know how to take chances.
The KG Sports Training Foundation Underclassmen Baseball All-Star Game is set for June 20th at Jackie Robinson Field in Pasadena at 6p.m.
Batting practice is set to start at 3:30pm
Come see the up and coming stars to come out of the SGV.
The KG Sports Training Foundation is set up to help inner city kids stay off the streets. Us as a foundation want to help get kids into college, thus putting together this game and inviting all college coaches to come out and see the local talent. We are also opening up a baseball academy starting June 27th at Muir H.S. at 1p.m.-3p.m. and every Wed and Sat for all kids ages 14-College kids. College coaches will be helping to run the camps to build that relationship between the kids to see if it would be a good fit for all at there school. June 13th will be our little kid baseball academy for kids from 8-14. This academy will take place at Farnsworth Park in Altadena up Lake Ave. High School coaches will help run this academy to help get kids into high school. Any questions call 818-620-7569 Kiko
WHATS GOING ON AT B.P. WITH THE PRINCIPAL AND ADMINISTRATION. WHY DO THEY LOSE MANY COACHES BECAUSE OF THEM.I KNOW OF A COUPLE FOOTBALL COACHES THAT LEFT BECAUSE OF THEM AS WELL, CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN?
GO BRAVES !!!!
By the looks of some of those wild card scores, particularly in div 2, what a waste of time. Many of those 4th place teams and 3rd place teams had no business being in cif. If you got through wild card with pitching intact then you did great and are ready to roll in thursday/friday 1st round. If you had to use your #1 then the wild card round could zap you. I understand cifs view on all the playoff games as it relates to ftb or basketball because more games = more revenue for cif. Like it or not money talks. But to do this in baseball where 95% of the sites dont charge a gate, it makes no sense. When 60% of teams are making cif, then that really cheapens pot in my opinion. But now we're on to round one where the real action starts. Predictions: Glendora wins close low-scoring game...Damien loses close low-scoring game...chino hills gets beat soundly...and chino wins easily. We'll see how the Sierra fairs after Thursday
I hope someone is going down to Fullerton to cover the BP Fullerton game. Fullerton is coached by the former BP coach who left after a squabble with the principal. Kids are fired up to play against him. Should be a fun game to watch. I know I am looking forward to seeing that game!
"the toughest league in the sgv" comes thru with flying colors!!!!
maybe all those baseball guys were right!
glendora, chino hills, damien took care of business in their wild card games and head into the first round against the big boys
the road may be tough but eventually, in the playoffs, you have to play tougher or better teams than yours. the point is all the sierra league teams will compete and that's all you can ask for.
best of luck to everyone on thursday!
fred has only glendora winning but we'll see.
