D4 amat vs patriot, northview does not have the pitching depth to make the run like last year. They need another Andrade , which they do not have, those 2 games a week against tough comp will get to them. Amat then should be moved up to D2 or D1 in baseball once and for all.

D3 Bonita pitching staff may be tired with all the innings they throw. They will win first game then get knocked out in game 2. Nice season though.

Based on strength of schedule, and a no hitter, my vote for top pitcher goes to Matt Whitehouse.
Next pick let the Amat coach pick between his two studs. Finally Nico Calderaro for his innings pitched and consistency.

I've seen Bonita many times and I'll say it's been disappointing year because of the losses and who they're against (Wilson, Los Altos, Charter Oak-not once, but twice). Now, they can win the whole thing and that would be nice, but don't go making full of yourself acting like they're dominating. SS is a fine player, not unbelievable by any means and #1 pitcher has good stuff. Besides that, who is a real talent on the team? Don't mention the guy going to another big college (not naming names-trying to be classy) because he's just a good high school player. Huth, lose the bias and be real here.

Finals are at Angel Stadium, probably at 10 a.m. on that Saturday. If the rankings hold up - and there's no reason to think they won't - until pairings day, both would be seeded Nos. 1 and 2, so they could only meet in the finals

I'll say it again and again - we NV fans love when Freddy bets against us. He did it last year in a few of the bigs and he did it after NV lost the first game against SD. I believe big Freddy was wrong again when they met for 2 in one week. NV-2 games, SD-1 game. - so keep betting against us.

It sounds as if the playoffs are going to be very intersting this year, especially if both Amat and Northview get into that final game against one another.

Now, I wonder, if Amat is the home team again this year, will Nieto once again have the game played at East LA College ? Or will he try to give the valley a bit of a break and have that game played localy instead ?

As a private school parant I can say that you are very missed out here as you seemed to always give us a fair look among the many public schools in the area. Today the Star-News gives very little coverage to private schools. Clearly in baseball this year, the Rio Hondo League gets about 90% of the coverage.
Miguel has not even been to one of our games so our being in the Top 10 and where we land is purely a guess.
We miss you Freddy and we miss Scott too!

Friday afternoon Bishop Amat officially won the Del Rey League Championship by again defeating St. Paul 6-2. The Lancers remain undefeated in league and moving towards their 3rd straight CIF Championship.

South Hills beat Monrovia and should be moved ahead of them.

How can say Amat players were intimidated by the Northview players being there. Do you realize that Northview and Amat have players that are friends and play together outside of their HS teams? I went to both St. Paul vs. Amat games this week. They have the best starting pitchers in the division. They are like fire and ice. Paez is the emotional pitcher who wears his heart on his sleeve. Zuniga has ice running thru his veins. They both look unbeatable in the playoffs. I'm hoping for an all SGV final. I was more impressed with the way they both shook of homeruns and beared down and got the job done. In talking to an Amat parent after the game he said that they did the same thing against Orange Lutheran and Servite.

i was at the st.paul, bishop game today...and a few kids from northview were there, and they walked through the crowd everybody's heads turned, n those kids were probably loving it and everybody had a look on there face like if they wanted to make it to the finals they had to go through that team and that they are the team to beat in the playoffs!? it seemed like they wre itiminated by them! should be another good run for them in the playoffs too. they are still looking for that "NORTHVIEW VS AMAT #2" look out amat.... playoffs will be fun!

Amat should be proud of what they have done so far this season, in fact I wish Ayala was in the same place. I just disagree with the number one ranking when Amat beats up on weak teams in a weak league. Good Luck in the playoffs while all of parents and fans of the two Chino Hills teams lick our wounds.

It is not how you start but how you finish a season. Amat was a work in progress team at the beginning and now they are putting the finishing touches on what is turning out to be another title run. They would beat Ayala, Diamond Ranch, Diamond Bar hands down right now. True they got beat in the early stages but this is one heck of a baseball team as it stands right now. The Success of this Amat team will continue and altho anything can happen, come playoff time Amat will be in the hunt for another CIF title.

If Amat was in the Sierra league they would not even make the playoffs. Ayala is bad and they beat Amat with a sophomore pitcher who gets rocked every week when he faces Sierra league hitters. In fact Diamond Ranch beat Amat and they have only one league win. Amat plays nobody and get all the hype. There is no way they can hang with teams in the IE.

Glendora might be able to beat Ayala but how are they going to win in the playoffs without scoring runs? Have you seen the scores of their games this year? Nobody is knocking in runs. Somebody needs to step up offensively for that team to go anywhere.

Prediction:

Glendora sweeps Ayala next week.
Chino vs. Damien results in a split.
Glendora wins league title.

How about matching them up against those teams just east of them in the IE representing Daily Bulletin? I would like to see how Amat would do against those teams now that they are hot.
