Walker arrested, then released without charges
What do you make of former Mt. SAC and UCLA football assistant DeWayne Walker, now with New Mexico State, getting arrested for a DUI, then released without charges after he blows a .01. He allegedly failed three field sobriety tests, which makes you wonder how tough these tests are sober.

Funny how the first post is about race when as I have stated before on other topics it should be about his actions. I get sick of people pulling out the race card when this has nothing to do with what happened. I traveled extensively and have been to New Mexico many times and the good majority of people in that state are of hispanic or Indian nature. It's highly unlikely that race played a factor.
He was driving down the one way street the wrong way and when pulled over the officers smelled alcohol on his breath. It is very possible he didn't know the area but put yourself in the police's position and it's easy to see why he was pulled over. Yes he did measure a low BAC reading but at one drink an hour and the fact he is a good size man it's possible the booze wore off. Alcohol usually leaves your blood stream on average at one drink per hour depending on your body size (height and weight). The police did the right thing in releasing him. To bring race into this is completely absurd. It is a typical Democratic type respond as an excuse for someones actions.
Just today I was talking to the father of one of Walker's recruits. He told me that Walker, during recruiting, drilled into the kids heads that he would not tolerate underage drinking or DUI arrests.
Ironically, the recruits all stayed at the Hotel Encanto for their trip. The father also said that the one way street is not marked and he too ended up driving the wrong way on it during the recruiting trip. Hotel Encanto is on that street.

It is 2009. Getting sick of double standards. Content of character and all that. Then people come on here and insinuate. Making prejudgements now a days is only racist if you are white. Everyone else gets a pass - BS.
This is why sobriety test are not allowed in court because they are not a true account if someone is drunk or not.
Any lawyer well tell you if pulled over for dui do not accept a field sobriety test and let the officer take you into custody so you can give a blood test at the station. You have not been arrested until they can charge you with something.
Walker had a USC lawyer and a UCLA judge. Welcome to New Mexico Mr. Walker, no one said it would be easy. Any cops out there know what .01 means?
He's a UCLA guy...he either fumbled something out of his hands or fell down when someone got close to him. :)
FIGHT ON!
So sad to hear this..
I've met him on several occasions & the guy seems like a classy person & wouldn't think you would end up reading an article in which he puts himself in this situation.
Those field sobriety tests are a bunch of b.s.!!
Alot of people can't even do some of those things when they are sober to begin with..
Just make em blow into the breath-a-lizer & thats it! Why all the need for so many "signs of intoxication"
Maybe Walker was just tired after a long night. .01 is equal to drinking an O'Douls. Anyone know how many hours coaches put in the off season? Walker was so far off the legal limit that I'd trust he was just tired. Does anyone know why he was pulled over. Maybe he was DWB, Driving While Black, I'm sure more will come out. I know some will say that's playing the race care but three field sobriety tests when all you need to fail is one? Blows a .01 which means in one hour he would have blown .0001, or .000000 ? Tough to believe a man his size and condition would fail a test based on his athletic ability alone, much less three times. Something doesn't smell right about this story. Wild stories will come out that some one made a call from the Governor's Office to inform the Sheriff that Walker was the new Head Coach in town and to wait to test him until he blew .01. Sure. DWB in America. New series on CNN.
