I think the same thing about SM and CC. He buried them so far down the bench it was amazing to me that they kept such good attitudes. The same goes for all the freshman. I especially liked kc. Don P. had 1 plan all year. It worked in league. The whole team stepped up in play offs, but when it got to the championship game......
Really?
This is one of those things that is so obvious and it amazes me how this guy can't see it.The lefty if allowed to hit on a regular basis would be a top area prospect and be in the paper almost everyday. Both teams clearly were lacking power hitters and this one could have broken the game wide open.Throw in Corona's kid from the beginning and not in a pressure situation and I bet she gets a couple of hits as well.Mr Don just can't see straight sometimes and needs to see an eye doctor or something like that lol.
In more than one instance I saw the "Lefty" of which you speak come through with clutch hits at very key moments. Good Attitude and a Great spark plug....can't wait to see what she does next year and on...Since everyone can "coach" from the sidelines...would be good to see her move to 1st and the 1st move to catcher....#50 will be missed behind the plate but am certain someone will step up to the task. Just sayin...
Hashisownagenda.... Yeah, I saw the same thing you did. I also agree with you about 2nd. 1 through 4 had only 1 recorded hit in the game. The other senior at 9 went hitless. He actually couldn't think past the 1 spot. Never did he try to manufacture runs or put the team in place to score after #1! He left his big lefty on the bench after she was announced as the DP before the game started?? Then, when he has a chance to do something, he leaves her on the bench with bases loaded with 2 out and his #9 hitter coming up?? No one else even attempted a steal against their catcher who had an average arm! I could go on and on.......This is a very good team and even though they will be losing 5 seniors, they should do well next year until he screws it up again.
Now he gets coach of the year for losing that game!!! Unbelievable. The championship team forgot to submit names. Wow, the first loser gets the award. LOL
"BUSH" League...that's funny. HeHeHeHeHe
Iknow,
Don clearly focused on this one player and her stats. So many other players could have made some game changing differences if only allowed the chance. It confuses me how such an experienced coach could have lost focus on the ultimate goal of winning a championship rather than individual accolades.I only saw a few hits by SD in the championship game and none were from this player it was clear leading up to and during this game several players were struggling at the plate while others could have put the ball in play.It was almost like he was zoned in on one thing and one thing only.I thought his decision at second was ultimately his down fall a bit shaky all year and clearly exposed in big games. It seemed to me he played for one run the whole game never giving his kids a chance to put together a rally. But what do I know I'm just a fan.
Actually Iknow...the "hater" train wasn't directed at you at all - that has been happening all year long - and everyone is entitled to their opinion and to speak freely and just as everyone else is, I'm putting mine out there as well. I was only responding to the comment insinuating that the accomplishment wasn't as deserved as you felt due to errors on others or a weak league...yada yada. And as a matter of fact, I don't have a daughter or a relative on the team at all - have just been following the team. So it's the fault of a player that the league or division they are in is weaker than others? I guess we can agree to disagree on that point...nothing wrong with that. It is what it is and one's talents shouldn't be held back in accordance to that criteria.(Again, my opinion) Obviously you seem to have more insight to the coaching part, I'm only a fan. Not a bad thing either !
edit...I call THAT "BUSH LEAGUE."
"Hater" train? Wow, so if people disagree or have a gripe about the way things went for a team, you must be a hater? Have a clue. What do you call yourself? A person that only roots for their kid and nobody else on the team! A parent that overlooks other accomplishments by other players then gives false platitudes? If the coach would have "coached" like one, your thinking would be a lot different. When he takes advantage of weaker teams and has a person still stealing with a 15-0 lead, what do you call that? Is he a "hater" against the other team? No, he's all about showing up the other team to make ONE player on his team look good. I call the "BUSH LEAGUE."
to IKnow said:
what are you talking about..."Not taking anything away from AS"? That is exactly what you are doing with those comments. So by your statement any record that has been broken should be belittled by errors, etc? Come on....Realllyyy?? The record could not have been broke if the potential wasn't already there - Playing hard with perserverence and a good attitude can take you a long way. More people should try it. It's always easy to sit on the sidelines and judge, criticize, etc. Blaming a coach, lashing out at any one player does not change the outcome - never will. So for hashisownagenda......geez guy, take a breath and get a grip. You are right - there is alot of talent on that team - they will come back strong, no doubt ....I only hope for you and your daughters' sake that when she is the one doing awesome and getting awards deservingly you won't be offended when everyone jumps on the "Hater" train.
hashisownagenda.......people are going to look at and read your blog and think.."wow, their kid must have sat on the bench." But, I know exactly what you are talking about! If not for Don P.'s ego and nepotistic thinking, the Lady Saints would be the CIF Div. 5 Champions. Now, don't jump all over me people. The decisions that were made and the butts that were kissed killed this great team. Not taking anything away from AS, but she probably has 15-25 more steals than she should. No errors by shortstops or second or third baseman on any of her steals? No errors on the catcher for overthrows? I personally saw at least 10! I went to only 4 games this year. Don P.'s inexcusable non use of players during not only the championship but during the regular season. He set this team up to fail. His refusal to put the best starting 9 in the championship game and his lack of leadership, his refusal to listen to his coach and team leadership all contributed to a loss that will sting for a very long time.
He blew it again Don P. just doesn't learn San Dimas is loaded with talent year end and year out and nothing but thanks to the hard working parents who have dedicated there time and money to keep that tiny little 100 player rec league a live.It is apparent to most he is so scared to ruffle feathers that losing is OK he holds grudges on families from years past and continues to use his intimidating tactics as par.The guy listens to no one he gives credit and awards to age and in the end after losing cry's about the should haves and could haves.Well a big fat I told you so Don get a clue Mr no it all a chimp could have won cif with your talent this year in fact I would bet a chimp would have had the guts to always put his best on the field and in the lineup.I hope this one hurts more than the last because those kids deserve better then what they are getting.I pity the kid who is your little favorite coming in next year what a jinx it is to be the class pet.Well I would say good luck next year but everyone knows luck is not a factor its more like guts and coaching to win and not make people happy or sad.
CONGRATULATIONS ARIEL!!
Your future is bright because you celebrate life each and every day. Your love for sports brings out the best in everyone around you.
Excited to see you break more records at UCR.
643dp:
You are correct, Ariel Shore did end with 78 SB...perhaps 76 was mentioned as that was the number that BROKE the record? Just a guess. Not to take away one bit Ariel's accomplishments not only this year but over her entire H.S. career, shame on the Coach's at Whittier Christian to not turn in stats for the players! Fantastic pitching over there - other girls as well.
AS very much deserves the Honor - gives 110% in all she does ! Has worked hard not only in Athletics but graduated with Honors as well - there is always always always going to be "haters" no matter who the student/athlete is or what they have accomplished - it is what it is and unfortunately it is not going to change. Keep working & playing hard and don't let the negative get in your way !!
Good Job Ariel - Have Fun in wherever your Future takes You !!!
Good Luck Next Year as well San Dimas - excited to see where next year takes you !! Great bunch of Gals
Great player, inflated stats..........
Softballdad,
Most of the information that is needed to nominate players comes before playoffs begin. Whether or not the AD is leaving is not the point. The AD has responsibilites to both the coach and the players on that team before he resigns if he is resigning. CIF is strict when it comes to rules. If it had to be turned in by a certain date, CIF is not going to bend the rules. We have already seen that with Calvary Murrieta.
From what I've been told the AD is leaving, but still the coach should have petitioned for a few of these girls to have gotten the recognition they soo deserved.
I thought Ariel Shore had 78 SB's not 76.
I put some of blame on the the AD at Whittier Christian. It is the AD responsibility to inform the coach about All CIF nominations. Not only that but most private/Christian schools end their school year around Memorial Day weekend, so if the nominations came after that the coach probably didn't have the information. I'm not sticking up for this coach since he has been coaching high school softball for some time and should know about All CIF nominations. Has there ever been a time that a runner up team gets player of the year and coach of the year? Whittier Christian is the Div. 5 CIF champs and has not a single player on the All CIF team. If I were a player or a parent of that team, I would be upset for not having been recognized.
I totally agree Fred how could that have happened? Coach fall asleep or just didn't stand up for his players? There are some awsome kids on that team that deserved mention.
This should be mentioned, Whittier Christian beats San Dimas in the championship game and gets zero players on the first or second team in Division V. I am told this is probably because the coach didn't nominate players, and if so, what an injustice for the players. There has to be a better way of doing this.
