Down the backstretch we go for the big awards

| | Comments (6) |

Entering the final weekend of the high school season, Steve Ramirez and I agree that the baseball and softball coach of the year and player of the year for baseball and softball are still up for grabs. We will make those decisions early next week. There are some not still playing in consideration, but of course a lot depends on what happens in the championships. Care to weigh in?

Below: How's this for a politically correct photo? San Marino players just as dazed and confused about all this as I am.

This is just not a playoff award..

The entire season numbers are off the charts. Once is a short while a "freak" comes along and this year its Josh Leyland. Do you understand baseball at all?

What type of pitches has he gotten in the playoffs? Maybe the hitter in front of him and behind him are getting good pitches to hit because of this kid unbeleivable year! I guess Neito didnt believe KING KONG was anything to worry about..

I am a fan of Josh and have known him for a long time. Kid works hard and deserves the award if Fred/Steve deed in appropriate.

One thing for sure, his parents are not apart of this blog.

Leyland or Leyland's parents need to lay off the blog... kind of obnoxious

Man someone is in love with Leyland - right? Has he been that relevant in the playoffs? Has he been their main guy> I think the cool thing about this play-off SD team is that many OTHER guys have stepped up. Come on - be fair and unbiased.

SGV,
Good choices there. POY is so open to many, it's scary. Leyland is a talent, but not doing much in playoffs and not MVP of his own league. I think Salcedo might be their mvp or jenson even. I think you nailed the infield.
Nico was mvp of miramonte league, so where do you put him or do you?
