Football: Projected 2010 All-Offense team

| | Comments (50) |

Based on last year, here is a look at the leading candidates for the 2010 Tribune All-Area team. Of course this will change during the season, you never know what will unfold. But for now, this is the preseason team. I will do the preseason defense later in the week.

Above: What will West Covina's Ricky Johnson do for an encore?

First Team Offense
QB: Michael Ball, Rowland, Jr
RB: Adam Muema, Charter Oak, Sr
RB: Ricky Johnson, West Covina, Sr.
AP: Leonard Rhodes, Walnut, Sr.
WR: Geoffrey Vaughns, South Hills, Sr.
WR: Wallace Gonzales, Glendora, Jr.
WR: Aaron Stockham, Glendora, Sr.
OL: Michael Wells, Diamond Ranch, Sr.
OL: Richard Tejada, West Covina, Sr.
OL: Siasi Aiono, South Hills, Jr.
OL: Raymond Raygoza, Baldwin Park, SR
OL: Andy Orozco, Charter Oak, Jr.
PK: Henry Calistro, Rowland, Sr.

Above: Don't be surprised if Walnut's Rhodes has a monster season along with the Mustangs.

Along with Pomona, don't sleep on Ganesha either..

Wouldn't be surprised if both teams make some noise this yr.. The VVL is not as strong as last yr..

Red Devil,
New head Coach & new OC, plus a few good athletes, sounds like some exciting times could be headed to Pomona, good luck this season.

DAN,
like you said 7 on 7 means nothing. U have to understand that there has been a major coaching change in the program..new head coach, new OC and we are trying to change the culture around the program...but to answer your question about the QB position we have 4 people fighting hard for that spot..and the Oline is young but big and physical....so we will see!!

Dan Author Profile Page said:

Red Devil, I hope your right, it's always good to see a struggling program get better, and it also adds another good team to the area that the others can test themselves against. If these athletes are as good as you say, then the x factor would be your lines & do you have a decent qb to get the ball to these athletes.
7 on 7 passing tournaments don't mean much, as you already know the real truth will come when the pads are put on, till then good luck.

DEAR POMONA RED DEVIL HATERS,

POMONA HAS THE MOST TALENT IN THE VALLE VISTA LEAGUE. YOU PEOPLE WILL RESPECT THEM RED DEVILS!

4 PEOPLE THAT COULD BE ON THE TOP ALL OFFENSE FOR 2010

ATH- DARRIAN LEWIS (WHO WILL GO D1)
TE/DE-DERON JEFFERSON 6-6 250 (PAC 10 PLAYER ALL DAY)
RB/DB- TAJ TEAGUE CLASS OF 2011 (WILL BE A PARADE ALL AMERICAN AND D1 ALL DAY)

AND COME SEE THE REST WE R THE TRUTH!

Just asking ? said:

Rosemead plays with a chip on their shoulder? Why?

WHO'S THERE said:

Yes his is . Who else could it be.

J SUTTON said:

Where is Rosemead's TE Luis Diaz? Remember the guy that had 2 td's and 3 sacks vs San Dimas in the quarters!

The kid is a MONSTER! 6-1 245 and plays like a typical Rosemead guy--with a chip on his shoulder.

He should at least be on the defensive team at DE!

C'MON FRED!

Bed time story for you,
My post was for Jimmy C.'s reponce to the Diamond Ranch poster, who had a stupid post in which he put down a local kid. Fred has since removed the post from this thread so now it looks as though my responce was towards your post, sorry for the misunderstanding.

There goes the DR Nation, mouthing off at full speed again. Of course, it is only July, lets see how tough they are after the annual beat down against CO? We'll see how they prevail mentally and then watch them snap, crackle and pop as they blow it again. ALL ME AND NO WE! Thats how your teams rolls, the proof is in the pudding. Name one prized recruit who went on to star after high school. Hell, show me proof that ONE of them even graduated from college. Your all show and no go baby, Been that way for what, 12-13 years now huh?

Bra,

If you wanted to be taken seriously you would of at least spelled Franks last name correctly. According to all your info, don't you think Frank at least deserves that! But alas, this is not the proper forum but i felt obligated since you addressed me directly. Maybe if you stop pouting i'll tell you a bed time story.

Wow
Ricky Johnson is way to soft to make it to D1

Relax! said:

Jimmy Crack, I only asked to see if you played with Frank M....Bra?

Dude chill out.

You were name dropping and I asked a simple question and you make hay out of that?

I did Google the Foundation and that was my point...obviously Frank M has been doing things to help people...and that's a credit to all Samoans who are very kind and respectful people...Bra?

Revelance? It's a sports blog...you mentioned going to tons of camps and hanging out and ....my bad....I thought maybe you played some ball...do you now se teh relevance?

Better yet...I don't really care. Good luck. I'm done.

sgvfootballfan said:

Wow
I'll believe it when i see it?

Jimmy C. Corn said:

Bra,

I dont see the relevance in your question. Franks been doing the Big Johns now for more than 30 yrs now. He's also got a football camp coming up this month. Google Big Johns Foundation for more info. Once again, good luck to all the boys playing ball this year.

Frank M. was a stud! said:

Seen Frank Manumamuela ...who there's a name from the past!!!

Seen him play in high school. He was a legend because of his size, strenght and speed. Samoans were just giving a hint of what they could do on the football field back then. Also seen Samoa Samoa at the Shrine All Star Game when playing in that game meant you were headed off to D1 schools as a requirement.

Googled him and was suprised that he has a foundation in his brother's "Big John" honor. I know Babbing nad Crason have a pretty good Samoan connecton but does anyone know if one is starting in the SGV?

Jimmy C. Corn...where did you play your ball?

FBFan said:

Lance R, If San Dimas already had its run and Northview already had its run then who will take the Valle Vista? Heggins has a very different coaching staff this year. Covina is a team full of sophomores. And Pomona and Ganesha are.... well let's just leave it at that. So are you saying that the Valle Vista will be weak. Also, I think CO has quite a few more players not named Muema.

Lance R said:

Amats returning talent is very good but there is always questions surrounding Amat based on do they have the complete package year in and year out to match the rest of the D1 schools. Serra is tough again this year so it will not be a cake walk but Amat will compete (they may not even make playoffs this year the Serra is so stacked). San Dimas had their run with Nico it is over. West Covina good RB but what is there to put around him. Walnuts Rhodes big work horse and they have some good returning players, their OL is a huge question mark. Rhodes cannot play all 11 positions on both sides of the ball. D'Ranch (see san dimas)..Not a SHills fan but they have a quality team coming into this season and they will make lots of noise. Northview(see san dimas and d'ranch)...Damien, surprise team this year but it will take time for it to get off the ground for Gano, maybe next year with realignment. Los Altos(see SD,DR and NV)Charter Oak (see Walnut) Great RB (total stud) they need more then that and they have a QB question mark. Adam cant run the ball all the time the pass opens up the run and their QB situation may fail with Thropay and the others.

Jimmy C. Corn said:

I was at the SC camp and the NCC and the sparqs and the AIGA ( where Frank Manumaleuma and I saw Siosi do his thing before SC hype). I've seen Ricky at a couple camps.Seen the Walnut kid. Seen the Amat kids. Seen the Charter Oak kids. Good luck to all the boys that don the shells this year.

BE HUMBLE said:

Comparing players from different leagues without
head to head competition is hard to do. Fred and other writers put these kids out there in a positive light. Some of you guys like to talk crap at the expense of the kids. All of the kid's mentioned are really good football players. I was at the SC skills camp, and Ricky did very well, but he didn't toy with the better players. There was players from all over the country, and plenty of talent to go around. I wish all of the SGV Players well, and staying healthy is one of my main concerns for these talented young men. so they can get an education, and start adulthood ahead of the curve. Don't get me wrong, I love the game of football, and I have two sons in a local program, but I still think positvely about the other kids. Stay humble or YOU might get cracked!

Big Nasty said:

Sorry 88888888, I don't think there is any talent at Bonita or San Dimas. Not saying they won't overachieve because they both have good coaching, but there is big time talent.

Fred, what about the Linemen???? Can we get a lineman list? Raygoza I a big question mark on your list. If you are going to put a Valle Vista Lineman on your list, you need to put a San Dimas kid on it. They have the best linemen year in and year out in, in that particular league. They have a huge Sr. center who is a bulldozer.

Dan Author Profile Page said:

For you Ricky J. bashers, I was told that he was toying with the defenses at the USC camp, I also was told that he was the one causing the oohs and ahhs in the camp.
Who knows what will happen next year, but considering RJ's inexperience, he has a lot of upside potential and was vastly improved last season over his first season of runningback which was the previous year.

Dan Author Profile Page said:

Fred, you got the right backfield, Muema, Johnson, & Rhodes all belong there, I also agree with you that Walnut may have a big season, hopefully not at the Bulldogs expense, I think
when all is said and done Amats Jay Anderson will have had a breakout year, and the QB coming up from Glendora's jv ranks, could end up being the best in the valley. I saw that Amat reciever
that transfered in from the Pasadena area, he didn't look to bad.

Dan Author Profile Page said:

Amat 73,
I saw a couple of Amats passing games this weekend, I agree with you on J. Anderson, he's
built solid and looks as nimble as a cat, Darian
Johnson was looking pretty quick too.

Wow! said:

sgvfootballfan,

Your dumb for saying that!...obviously your not up to date..i dont know about UCLA, but i know USC is on his nuts!

8888888888 said:

What about Bonita or San Dimas?

??? said:

Fred,

You tell me... The previous rankings had canada up at the top and now he's gone...

J. Anderson fastest in the valley???

charter oak said:

dennis rufus of charter oak gets invited to play in the espn under armor bowl in 2010 but cant make this team? whos doing the research here

AMAT 73 Author Profile Page said:

SGV Fan,
Since this is based on last years showing, cut Fred a little slack on J. Anderson. I do agree with you that he will be one of the ones to watch. He showed a little of that speed last year and if he is the number 1 back in the offense it will explode with him carrying the ball.

take note said:

The transfer from Pasadena, Austin Lacy, who is now at Amat will be pretty good too.

Pasqy Who? said:

Holmes better STEP-UP and get alot tougher. Guy cannot take the hits and speed is average..

If you guys whin in passing league whats next?

FredJ said:

Those who post "where is" so and so, who would u replace them with?

SGV fan said:

Where is Jay Anderson of Bishop Amat?? Fastest in the Valley

sgvfootballfan said:

Bob Jackson
No way will he EVER end up at USC or UCLA. "Maybe" CAL Poly SLO "MAYBE"

??? said:

What happened to Canada???

SGVfan said:

Bob Jackson,
what you said is so dumb!!! i dont think you have a clue how talented ricky is. If you havent heard, hes USC and UCLA bound! keep that in mind.

Who will block for all these DR primma donnas? said:

sgv football fan,

Can your D1 recruits play as a team and finally win something? Or is it all about ME at DR, and not the team? By the way, have any of these football factory college bound studs amounted to anything at the next level? yeah right!

sgvfootballfan said:

Fred
Ricky Johnson? Fred you were at the game against DR in the play-offs and DR made it look so easy to contain him.I think the kid who will have a breakout year will be Amari Staten at Dr.Diamond Ranch is loaded in the backfield this year with Amari Staten,Jacoby Carter,Chase Price and Elisha Henley.Staten,Carter and Henley all D1 recruits.

FredJ said:

How many Glendora kids you want on the offense? Is two not enough, the running back crew is tough, Holmes is good, but I like Muema and Johnson as the top two returning.

Tartanfan10 said:

andre holmes...????? i hope you dont mess up on the defense. MIchael gonzales of glendora will lead the seirra league i promise!!!!!!!!!

Bob Jackson said:

Wow andre holmes isnt on there? i hope you dont make anoth mistake and not put michael gonzales of glendora on defense. Gonzales was 4th in the league for tackles and everyone else played too more games than him. Holmes should be up there instead of ricky. we will see when glendora plays west covina who comes out on top.

look? said:

The helmet says 32

thats not Rhodes in the picture, Rhodes is number 32
