Josh Leyland skips college, signs with Oakland A’s

San Dimas High School catcher Josh Leyland, the Tribune’s player of the year after leading the Saints to the Division IV title, has agreed to terms with the Oakland A’s after being drafted in the 16th round. Terms of the contract were not released. Leyland, one of the top recruits for Washington State, will begin his pro career immediately. Cougars coach Donnie Marbut had high hopes for Leyland, and had this to say on Cougsfan.com: “He had a chance to make Bailey-Brayton (WSU’s home field) look pretty small.”
