BigNasty,
Don't Hate!!!
Congrats Jason. It's good to see a former Ganesha Alum doing good things.
If I remember correctly Price and McKee made the first team as Freshman in 2008. Both made it to CIF Finals. Stay cool dad, tell your daughter keep working hard and she will get there.
San Dimas Fan....lesson is you can't fall. Toughen up.
I do feel there is one person from San Dimas that was left off. Soph Katherine Salcido. She was on the 4 x1 and 4 x 4 that were CIF finalist. She ran a 14.99 100Hurdle and unfortunatley fell at CIF prelims. Even though she fell over hurdle #3 got up and missed qualifing for finals by two or three spots. She was also a 5-4 high jumper, 34 foot triple jumper and high 16 foot long jumper.
Really, all SGV is not about what you do in league. Most of these young ladies have proven themselves throughout CIF. Price, Dunn, McKee, Brooks and Burnam went deep into CIF. Dunn is CIF Champion, Price is CIF Champion, Brooks made it to CIF Finals as did McKee. Go to dyestat.com to find out the stats (CIF Divisions and overall)and how your girls match up. I am not discounting anyone out there but track is a sport where it is not objective and clearly you can compare your times to others. (And where accutrack time outweighs hand times always.)
track is king
I agree with Bonita fan. Romero has TONs of talent and couldn't even win league. How does this happen? The guys isn't a coach, but just a cheerleader. Come on Fred, this is a new low (joke for even you. How about next year you give coach of the year to Bozo The Clown. You just lost all credibility.
There seems to be a consistent theme to comments left concerning the girls 1st team versus 2nd team. Without some clear criteria the selections seem very subjective. Candace Williams, San Antonio League MVP, 1st place 100 meter, 1st place, 200 meter, 1st place 4x100 and 1st place 4x400 relay team. 4.0 student. What else does she need to do to get just recognition. You have individuals in her league that are on 1st team but she's the MVP. Is it that she's a freshman? She was also not MVP at her school but yet no other South Hills track member is 1st or 2nd team. I don,t understand. Could you please explain. Thanks
On your all area girls track and field team. I feel Jessica Mendez should have been on the 1st team. She was undefeated in both the 1600 meters and 3200 meters in league meets this year and beat Vanessa Lopez in a head to head battle this year during the West Covina vs. Rowland track meet. Yet Vanessa Lopez was on the 1st team. I'm not sure you researched your statistics correctly. Could you please explain. Thanks
Marty Mendez
I know he doesn't look at the blog, but congratulations to Jason Romero from the Ganesha Athletic Staff. We're sure he's done a great job coaching track at DRanch and we're glad he is on our football staff at Ganesha (as well as being a former grad. and track star in his own right).
Is this the first time a coach has been Coach of the Year who didn't win league. Bonita girls won Miramonte yet no 1st or 2nd team nods
