Walter Thurmond hits the big time with O-Ducks
Ohh Thurmond: The perfect picture is always when someone makes a play against 'SC

Hi all, I'm here at Pac-10 Media Day, and wanted to let know that former West Covina High School star Walter Thurmond, now an all-conference defensive back at Oregon, is also expected to be in attendance. He will join new Ducks coach Chip Kelly sometime afternoon.
I will follow with comments from Thurmond a little later.
By the way, they just handed out the Pac-10 preseason media poll and, surprise, USC is No. 1 with rival UCLA No. 7. California is second and Oregon No. 3.
Walter Thurmond: "I'm just happy to be the position I'm at. God gave me the ability. I really can't stress enough how hard it takes to be the position I'm in. It takes hard work, and you just have to have love for the game."

Monday, August 10, 11:00 a.m. PT
Lost a bit in Friday's opening day of camp festivities was the inclusion of senior cornerback Walter Thurmond III on the watch list for the Jim Thorpe Award. The award is given annually to the nation's best defensive back.
Thurmond III, a preseason all-America according to Sporting News, enters his senior season with 11 career interceptions, including five in each of the past two seasons. He is one of 31 players on a watch list that includes four from the Pac-10.
The West Covina, Calif. (West Covina) product is a candidate for captain this season.
Good luck up there Walter, hope you have a monster season, how is Will Wallace doing up there?
From his all everything skills at track and field, Thurmond would have a top decathalete if he had pursued that sport.
