According to CIF, Charter Oak's Travis Santiago not eligible until February of 2010

| | Comments (32) |

Charter Oak sophomore quarterback Travis Santiago is listed on CIF's website as ineligible to play football until February of 2010. When Santiago left South Hills for Charter Oak in February of 2009, it was determined he had to sit out one calendar year of varsity sports, making him ineligible to play football this fall, according to CIF Director of Communications Thom Simmons. Charter Oak officials believe they have the necessary paperwork to deem Santiago eligible this season, but as of today, he is ineligible to play. We will continue to follow this closely until the season begins.

Hi. This information proved to be very useful. Can you please provide more aspects of this subject? Thanks. There are many small hotels that are reasonably priced and the water at the magnificent beach is calm and safe for kids.

This is my first visit to your blog. We are starting a brand new initiative in the same category as this blog. Your blog provided us with important information to work with. You have done a great job. However, there are smaller things that you must do when caring for a newborn that you may not think to do right away.

I havent played with code at all seems to be the widgets (sounds like a star trek episode or something)

Very interesting, but I don't think it's true.

You are a very smart person!

If you're still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you'll know which is right for you.

Just wanted to say that I read your blog quite frequently and I'm always amazed at some of the stuff people post here. But keep up the good work, it's always interesting.
See ya,

For the record,
If that is true, then why did the younger Canada brother who will be enetering SH as a Soph get denied?

Can anyone please clarify?

The "freshman" transfer rule allows a kid a one-time transfer without any restrictions so Santiago is entitled to go to CO and play whatever sport that he wants. So, the current problem is academically related just as the CIF website states. Thropay transfered twice, thus he had to sit out last year's football season.

That's right said:

Prep fan, that's an excellent point, after leaving Bishop Amat, Josiah Thropay was ineligible to play football last season, but was eligible and did play basketball. After sitting out one full season of football, he is now eligible to play this fall. That makes a lot of sense, thanks for clearing it up.

Prep Fan Author Profile Page said:

Upon transfer an athlete is ineligible for one year in sports that he played in the previous 12 months for his prior school. If he did not play baseball at South Hills as a freshman he could play at baseball at Charter Oak while still being ineligible to play football.

Fan said:

Not true - he did play some baseball, and, then, apparently, was ruled academically ineligible (you know how tough it is to get a 2.0 at Charter Oak). I remember he pitched a complete game against Bonita towards end of year.

Santiago sat out this past year on the baseball team and didnt play.

FredJ said:

It is my understanding that before CIF could rule on his transfer, he was declared academically ineligible first. If you look on CIF's website, there are two specific rulings.

Fan said:

he did play varsity baseball so this does not make sense

Living Legend said:

Wait Fred didn't he play varsity Baseball this past spring at CO?

JFR said:

Fred, why don't you ask the guru or SH what the hold up is before you put yourself in a bad place. P.S. tell the GURU to stay away from CO, not welcomed!

Lucy..."you have some espalaining to do!!!"

Santiago or Thropay, it doesnt matter they both have guns when it comes to launching the ball. We will see not this friday but next friday who gets the start. It has been said before and I also vouch that Thropay will be the starter this year. We will see next week what pans out, either way im still saying it will be CO vs SH in the cif finals. This is the last year it will happen.
