Post this on the bizymoms Rosemead community. They would love to hear about it.
http://www.bizymoms.com/rosemead/index.php
It would be useful as the moms can make plans to attend the games together.
HEY...MustangSally?
Who are you again??
HEY! Get a room you two!!!
DRanchhhhh,
Man, I can't wait too much longer for this season to get started!
My take on scheduling DR next year is this...if we play you guys AGAIN in the playoffs we should look elsewhere for Week 0 next year. That would be 4 games in a 15 month span, which is way too much if you ask me...hell, this aint the NFL. If we don't meet up in November, than I'm ALL for it.
As far as the game is concerned, I have no idea what to expect! Like I said, too many question marks. But it is definitely an honor to play you guys as well, and as I've said before I'm a BIG fan of Coach Layton.
ONE MORE WEEK!!!
The Stang Fan,
Thanks and I appreciate your response. I will answer your questions in order.
1.)Yes that would be a good look, and I will briefly explain why. Muir outside of CO and Colony will be the only two teams we will face in pads that have true speed. We had our boys at the LA Watts games this year. This was totally out of Roddy's Character. But it proved to be an excellent move givin', we faced several LA City section teams and placed 2nd next to LA Jordan. If you know anything about them, they had 2 kids commit to SC this past year. We faced teams like, Crenshaw, Compton, Washington, Morningside, Schurr and Banning. We walked through all of them except Compton and Crenshaw, which we out performed in the end. And to top it off we were the only NON LA based team there for the 7 on 7 competition. So playing Muir sharpens us for CO and Colony.
2.) To be honest with YOU, we look absolutely great this year. Our O-Line is averaging 6'2 about 280. And I am not by far exaggerating those figures. Our skilled guys that are returning are the truth. Our weak spot will obviously be our LB corp. We have 3 stud backers but they must stay healthy bc after that, it will be a struggle. Like I previously mentioned we have the whole schedule to worry about, so we are taking no team for granted like we did last year. 5 straight losses by 5 small margins, was the result of lack of effort and bonding early in the season. The only teams who honestly out played us were CO and OC. We have only lost 9 starters, 3 on offense and 6 on defense with 4 of them being LB's. that figure may be off a bit, but im sure thats a good guess-timation.
3.)And as far as the results of the game, well I cant call that one bc from the outside looking in, Rueben Thomas is gone now. We had never seen a n athlete of his caliber. (Surprised he ended up at NMSU, which by the way Bryan Bonilla took an offer there too under D.Walker) So I will remain humble and say, let the best prepared team walk the line of victory. If we meet again in the playoffs, well, it is what it is. To play a team like Muir is always an Honor. Your team will make us better no matter the outcome..
kingofcali626,
Once in a blue moon my posts get eaten up by the blog. There was a 4-5 day period when Miguel was on vacation that it was eating everything up, but when he came back it was remedied. Honestly, I'm not sure what you should do, other than using a different computer or emailing Miguel to see what the problem may be. You know, NY and GA have that problem some time as well, so you may want to inquire with them too.
DRanchhhhh,
I hear you bro and I appreciate your true and honest answer. I can see how and why Amat folks might lambast you for pulling your son out, but when it comes down to your own child, things become MUCH different. $1,400? Ouch! Nontheless, it appears you are much happier at DR and I'm sure your son is as well, and I wish him the best while he's there....except against the Stangs of course!
Anyhow, a few questions:
A. Do you want Muir and DR to continue playing each other in the pre-season, seeing as the chances are high that they'd see each other in the playoffs like last year?
B. You were obviously answering !stang! facetiously, so how do you guys really look this year?
C. How do you see this game playing out, or are you like me and can't call it because of each school's question marks?
The First thing Fred, it is wonderful to know that we fans of the Mid Valley will not have to put up with any games by Mtn. View during weeks 1, 2 and 5. If they have 3 bye weeks the better!
Secondly, D-rancher... there is NO CRYING IN FOOTBALL! or is that the other sport? I don't know, was that Tom Hanks or Rosie O' Fatso who said it?
Thirdly, Com-on There is no recruiting by High School Coaches in Pop Warner programs, especially by Christian/Catholic Schools like Oaks Christian, Santa Marguerita , Saint Margarets, Mater Dei, Saint Don Bosco, or BISHOP AMAT... etc. They do not have the funds any more with the paying off the Civil Cases from all the clergies for the sexual assaults on minors. Sorry Father Flarrity!
Peace out!
So little johnny did'nt get the starting job at Bishop Amat. So you get mad and then decide to pull the kid and send him to Duh-Roach. LMFAO !
The Stang Fan,
You know I'm not the jerk I became in that blog. Its sort of personal but I will give a nutshell explantion as to why
I truly don't value there program regardless of their tradition and history at this point in time. I'm associated w DR in several ways
And I believ Fred J knows how. I have a 13 year old son that was the starting tailback for a DB pop warner team that brought back the
First championship in 23 years.now BA went out of there way to talk to my wife of all people to recruit my son. Invited him to the hit and
Hustle camp. Out of 130 sum thin kids they went after 7 of them. My wife knew that I wanted him at DR for several reasons. So after months
Of arguing and disagreements w the wife, I finally give in and send him to summer school to get acquainted with the schools traditions and
Curriculum. Mid summer during football practice two of the coaches found out that I was heavily acquainted with DR. They pull my son to the side
Twice during camp to ask him if he was sent to BA by myself and Roddy Layton to cheat and secretly recruit other kids to come to DR. A 13 year old kid.
On top of that he is pretty much disregarded for the rb position and moved to cb. Passing league rolls around and now he is getting no run. Now I know
That coaches go with who the better kids are and I have no problem with that at all. So I question the unnamed coaches and they didn't deny that they asked him
But said it was takin out of proportion. So for me to make 3 month long decision about my child future and iit to end in two coaches ignorance makes me believe
That are no different from any other school. Lost out on 1400.00 for class, spirit packs, contributions, etc. Is quite dissapointing. So in a MANS natural nature
I have chosen to lash out at their lack thereof. How dare them put their school ans program on a pedestal.
This was typed from my sorry BB storm so excuse the mass grammatical errors.
Stang Fan you know the secret to be able to post on the Star-News blog. I been trying to post on there forever it always says sent to blog owner for approval.
DRanchhhhh,
Very funny.
Both teams have unproven but TALENTED players ready to fill the shoes of all the talent that left. It should be a very interesting game, and as all 1st games go, maybe even a little sloppy.
It's very likely that the two can meet up again in the playoffs this year, which would make FOUR games in the span of 15 months.....crazy!
Btw, did an Amat fan cut you off on the freeway or something? You've been going pretty hard in the paint with those folks.
Unless that fire goes to somewhere in the 10,000 acre range, it should be mopped up and out by next week. You never know with mother nature though, if we get winds, it could burn for a week. I wouldn't bet on it. We should be good to go on Thurs Sept 3! Thank the US Nat Forest Service, and the LA County Fire Dept for helping keep our opening day status "ready to go"!
!Stang,
Nuthin much, we are just as horrible as ever. We lost a grip of our players and we are rebuilding. It may even take a couple of years. We have sophmores on the line. We are hoping to compete with you all this year. We are DR!!
Fred , what's new with Dranch? What's the game of the week for week 0?
I just noticed the fire happening over at azusa canyon. What are the chances the week 0 games are cancelled in the SGV?
I hope it doesn't get as bad as the Brea Fire.
SGV FOOTBALL I got a game for you week 0

That must be the hot babe hanging on your arm in Vegas you mentioned on the other thread. Well it looks like your money doesn't buy you much. Do us all a favor, invest in a good joke book because your material stinks.
Fred I grew up in Pasadena and now live in Covina. That being being said i follow both your blog and Miguel's over at the Star-News. Okay so my question is why is it almost impossible to post on his blog and so easy to do so on yours?

jcaz,
here is a joke for you.
Girls night out
Two women friends had gone out for a Girls Night Out, and had been decidedly over-enthusiastic on the cocktails. Incredibly drunk and walking home they suddenly realized they both needed to pee. They were very near a graveyard and one of them suggested they do their business behind a headstone or something. The first woman had nothing to wipe with so she took off her panties, used them and threw them away. Her friend however was wearing an expensive underwear set and didn't want to ruin hers, but was lucky enough to salvage a large ribbon from a wreath that was on a grave and proceeded to wipe herself with it. After finishing, they made their way home.
The next day the first woman's husband phones the other husband and said, "These damn girls nights out have got to stop. My wife came home last night without her panties." "That's nothing," said the other. "Mine came back with a sympathy card stuck between the cheeks of her butt that said, 'From all of us at the Fire Station, Well never forget you!'
Now I know why you still live in La Puente...Jcaz...are you the creepy uncle who bothers everyone at family get togethers?
Time for a funny joke...okay?
When do we get to see the volleyball predictions? You know we are dedicated fans too.
Well it's just tribbin time again. I guess that it's time for the first joke of the year.
Ok all you ultra right wing conservatives and anti-union people. This one is for you.
A dedicated Teamsters union worker was attending a convention in Las Vegas and decided to check out one of the local houses of "ill repute." When he got to the first one, he asked the Madam, 'Is this a union house?'
'No,' she replied, 'I'm sorry it isn't.'
'Well, if I pay you $100, what cut does the ladies get?'
'The house gets $80 and the girls get $20,' she answered.
Offended at such unfair dealings, the union man stomped off down the street in search of a more equitable, hopefully unionized shop.
His search continued until finally he reached a place where the Madam responded, 'Why yes sir, this is a union house. 'We observe all union rules.'
The man asked, 'And if I pay you $100, what cut do the girls get?' 'The girls get $80 and the house gets $20.'
'That's more like it!' the union man said.
He handed the Madam $100, looked around the room, and pointed to a stunningly attractive green-eyed blonde.
'I'd like her,' he said.
'yes sir, I'm sure you would very much like to have her' said the Madam. “But…
Then she gestured to a 92-year old, wrinked faced woman sitting in the other corner,
'but Ethel here, has 67 years seniority, and according to union rules, she's next.'
oops
