Football Top 32: Charter Oak clings to No. 1; Bishop Amat, South Hills make a move

Top 10
1. Charter Oak (2-0) – The Chargers looked impressive in routing L.A. University. QBs Travis Santiago and Josiah Thropay combined for more than 200 yards passing and four TDs.
2. Bishop Amat (1-0) – The Lancers started slow before scoring a 28-14 victory over Dominguez. Jay Anderson rushed for 113 yards, 102 in the second half. West Covina is next.
3. South Hills (1-0) – The Huskies used a solid defensive effort in beating Ayala. They will have their hands full when they challenge La Habra, who just whacked La Mirada.
4. Glendora (0-1) – It’s been a tough few days for the Tartans, who lost to Upland, 10-3, on Friday, and now are without stud receiver Wallace Gonzalez, who has left the team. A win over Canyon will soften the blow.
5. Diamond Ranch (1-1) – The Panthers play one of the toughest schedules in the area, and this week it takes them to Elsinore. They dropped a few spots after a tough loss at Colony.
6. Rowland (1-0) – The Raiders, led by Michael Ball, were steady in beating California. Now they get an improved Montebello squad.
7. San Dimas (2-0) – The Saints just march on, opening the season with routs of Los Altos and South El Monte.
8. Walnut (1-0) – The Mustangs were off and running, beating Diamond Bar 44-20. Austin Cooper proved to be a good compliment to running back Leonard Rhodes.
9. Baldwin Park (2-0) – The Braves make a major move after starting the season 2-0.
10. Damien (0-2) – The Spartans stay in the top 10 by default, but they will need to play better than last week’s 40-7 loss at St. John Bosco to remain. A win over Claremont this week is a good start.
