CIF Polls: Monrovia-San Dimas No. 1 and 2 in Mid-Valley and meeting on Friday; Rowland, Walnut No. 2 and 3 respectively in Southeast

Reaction: The new polls are out and there is much to debate. First, Bishop Amat is finally listed in “others” in the Pac-5 ahead of powers like Mater Dei, St. John Bosco and Loyola. This is what a 2-0 start will do for you. In the Southeast, no surprise that Charter Oak is No. 1, but Rowland (No. 3) and Walnut (No. 3) are right behind with Wilson at No. 7. This is not a shocker considering what has happened to West Covina, South Hills and Diamond Ranch, but lets be honest, scheduling plays a big role in this. If West Covina, South Hills and Diamond Ranch played the same teams as Rowland, Walnut and Wilson, they would be undefeated too. Once again, how do you weigh schedule strength against easy wins? And look at the Mid-Valley, with defending champ Paraclete going down, Monrovia and San Dimas are on top of the polls and meeting in an epic showdown on Friday. You gotta love it.
