GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TOP 10
1. Glendora (4-0)
The Tartans have looked impressive early on, and that includes a four-game win over previously No. 2 Walnut. Senior Valerie Brain came up huge against the Mustangs with 28 kills and nine blocks. Glendora closes out the nonleague season against Hart on Wednesday before opening up Sierra League play against Diamond Bar.
2. Bonita (5-3)
The Bearcats feature a solid triple threat in hitters Allie LaPierre and Katie Kirby and setter Ashley Maxfeldt. They survived a scare against San Dimas early before sweeping the rival Saints. But they followed it up by being swept at Troy, which is ranked No. 3 in Division 2-A.
3. South Hills (4-1)
The Huskies have looked good with the sister tandem of Melinda and Marissa Gomez, who are both capable of double-digit attack numbers. They will be tested when they travel to St. Lucy’s on Thursday.
4. Walnut (3-2)
The Mustangs drop a bit after losing in four to Glendora, but this is still a solid team. Hitter Samantha Sheller has lived up to expectations early on.
5. Los Altos (9-2)
The Conquerors appear to be back. They swept St. Lucy’s two weeks ago, battled Walnut before losing five games last week, then followed up by taking the Mayfair Tournament.
6. St. Lucy’s (8-3)
The Regents appear to have settled into the season following up the loss at Los Altos with wins over Rosary and Alta Loma. We will find out more when they face South Hills this week.
7. San Dimas (5-2)
The Saints looked very solid in jumping out to a lead against Bonita. And although they dropped in three games, this is still a solid team. They get a test Wednesday against Walnut.
8. Diamond Bar (6-6)
The Brahmas, also a youthful, group are holding their own, but will need to step up once Sierra League play starts.
9. Ganesha (11-3).

10. Gladstone (12-5)
The Gladiators are the team to beat in the Montview League and are off to a solid start. They had a solid weekend up north at the Carpinteria.
